It’s a foster win alert for Harry Winston! Winston moved in and became part of the pack immediately. He’s so easy going and loves to play with his trainer, Bean, the Pug. They go non-stop! Winston’s new name is Meatloaf and he is enjoying life in his forever home, despite mom keeping him on his diet and training schedule! Welcome home, Meatloaf.
My name is Harry Winston, but my friends just call me Winston. To end up in rescue was a shock to say the least. I had a family and a Bulldog sister named Willow.
Out of the blue, my mom found out her employer was transferring her to another state and into a small apartment. I said, “Nooo. No way. I love my big home and my big backyard.” It’s all I’ve ever known. But my mom didn’t have a choice. She has to move. But me? I was born a Texan and a Texan is what I want to be.
Willow moved in with a family friend. She continues to be the queen she was born to be and I have moved in with a foster family. So far, so good. Everyone is super nice and welcoming to me.
I am 2 years old. In fact, when I turned 2 in July, I had a party.
So, Bulldog people, please help me through this process. I am having a hard time today because everything is so different. I’m singing the blues in my new place. Things are looking better though. It’s almost meal time and that happens to be my favorite time of the day.
I am thick and wide, so the wind won’t blow me away. All I really need is a big ol’ house, a big backyard and a family who will love me forever!
1/24/23 Update: Winston is adjusting to foster life quite well. The changes in just two days are quite remarkable.
When he first got here, he was a bit of a stage 100 clinger, using his size to push anyone and everyone out of the way to be center of attention. He was anxious and over-exerting himself, but he’s quickly finding his routine. He goes into his crate voluntarily and already no longer cries. He goes potty outside too! He doesn’t seem to have had any obedience training, but Winston is very eager to please.
Winston will need to learn quite a bit about reducing caloric intake and gentle exercise. He is so young and playful and losing weight will really help him play even better! He LOVES going for walks, so he’s at least willing to join that part of his D-I-E-T journey. He will need a family who can commit to helping him trim down to be the quick and dancy Bulldog that he is.
Winston is just a young and playful boy. He’s a quick learner too! Other than his size, he’s a healthy Bulldog. He has a soft coat and clean ears. His paws are healthy. Winston is a rockstar!
1/24/23 Update: Winston loves being in the backyard and is quite independent out there. If I’m outside with him, he just stares right at me. If I go inside and spy on him through a window, I see him sniffing, rolling around and bird watching.
He and Mr. Munch are figuring out their dance together. Winston still likes to shove Mr. Munch out of the way to be first, but he’s not dominant at all. He’s just a bit excited, maybe anxious, and perhaps has a case of FOMO! He is learning to respect Mr. Munch and to follow Mr. Munch.
Through the fence, Winston has met the two little 8 lb Yorkie neighbors. He is very sweet and curious toward them, even if they’re yapping. Winston is a big lover! I think he’d do well in a home with other young dogs to keep up with his dancing paws or a family.
Winston loves his crate now. In fact, after he’s tired himself out outside or from a walk, he comes inside and runs straight to his crate for a snooze. With it being a new environment, it’s destimulating for him to rest there. Otherwise, Winston can get out of breath trying to keep up! He knows his crate is the best place for R&R.
1/31/23 Update: Harry Winston is potty trained and goes right into his crate without issue. If you shut the door so he can’t see you, he won’t cry. If he does see you, you’ll get two minutes of soft whimpers. He knows it’s time for R&R.
Winston is extremely playful and only wants another dog to play with him. Unfortunately, Mr. Munch is still uncertain and hasn’t responded to Winston’s bids. Nonetheless, Winston still tries! He rolls over on his back and play nibbles. He does this thing where he sits up on his two back legs and waves his front paws around. He has the cutest “please play with me” efforts that I’ve ever seen. He’d get along swimmingly in a house with other dogs or he’d enjoy being center of attention.
2/7/23 Update: Mr. Harry Winston is settling in great in his new foster home. He’s exploring the yard and the kitchen, following FM everywhere & playing with the resident pug. He’s young, very playful & looking forward to “working out” with his fitness trainer (Bean, the pug) to lose a few extra pounds.
2/14/23 Update: Harry Winston checking in & doing great. I blended right in with family, fur and skin, easily. I’m a champion napper, snacker & player! I love belly rubs and I’m trying new snacks like blueberries and carrots! I love playing with my little foster brother. We chase, wrestle and chew Benebones together. I also enjoy chasing squirrels outside! I got to sit on the floor with Doc this week and she agrees that I am perfection in a buff bulldog body, but a little puffy. FM has me eating a little less and walking the yard a few times a day and working out with my trainer, Bean, the pug to lose a few pounds. If you’re looking for an all around hunk, I’m your man!
2/21/23 Update: Harry Winston easily fit right in with his foster siblings. He acts like he was born here! He’s great with all the fur siblings, but does love to bark at the barn cat and try to play. He’s working on dropping some weight and enjoys days full of naps, wrestling, chewing toys and lots of love
