Henry Ford

Henry Ford

Henry Ford has been adopted! Henry’s the life of the party and so much personality and fun. His new mom and dad are so excited to have Mr. Personality join their family. His new mom works from home, so he’ll get to play and snuggle with her all day long. He’s settling into his new home by searching out all the toys and best cuddle spots.

Friends, what was I thinking? It sure didn’t take me long to realize walking around when the temperature was in high 90s could only end in disaster for me.

Even though I am in great shape, a Bulldog stays inside the house when it gets hot, or gets cold, or when it rains, or when the weather is nice. Let’s face it… Bulldogs stay inside year-round!

I must have gotten turned around. I was lost and not one thing looked familiar. I am so glad someone contacted animal control before I just fell over in the heat.

Once I got to the shelter and stayed there for several days, I wondered why my family didn’t come for me. I kept thinking every time the door opened, “Was that my family?”

Finally, my new shelter friends told me my stay was over and I was free to go. And they had already found me a special place. I was glad because I didn’t  want to go wandering around in the heat again. The rescue wagon rolled up, I hopped in and the rest is history.

Pretty soon, I’ll be looking for a new family and this time, I promise I won’t go on a walk again…. unless I’m with my family, of course.

7/1/22 Update:  Unfortunately after his exam and labs we found out that Henry tested positive for heart worms and will have to undergo treatment.

8/22/22 Update:  Henry Ford moved into his foster home earlier this week. He’s currently on crate rest because he’s fighting off those nasty heartworms. It’s going to be a long two weeks for this boy. He has energy and wants to play. He loves toys and plays well by himself.

Until his crate rest ends, I won’t have an opportunity to really see all of his personality. What I can tell you now is that he’s sweet and very playful.

Even though he needs to learn some manners, he’s great on a leash and knows the sit command. He seems to be potty trained and we’re working on him not trying to mark everything.

He gets along great with the other two Bulldogs in the house. He’s interested in the cat, but hasn’t tried to chase her.

8/31/22 Update:  Henry is super excited for his upcoming heartworm treatment crate rest restriction to be lifted. He’s really been enjoying some relaxing non-crate activities. We can’t wait to see this boy’s personality really come out!

9/6/22 Update:  Freedom! Henry is so excited to finally be able to play post-heartworm treatment activity restriction. He’ll be living it up for the next few days. Unfortunately, he’ll be back on crate rest next week after his palate surgery, but the surgery will help him breathe better.

9/14/22 Update:   JLast week was a big week for me. I had a meet and greet! Of course they fell head over tail in love with me. I’m really excited to meet them again. I just have to wait until I’m recovered from my soft palate surgery. Ugh…. Yes, you heard that right. More recovery time for me. So back to no playing and more resting. Foster mom keeps counting down the days for me. It’s not much longer. Then totally freedom!! I can’t wait.
