JLo

HAPPY REUNION ALERT! Jlo wants you to know she has gone home! That’s right, after being gone for about a month, we reunited her with her family.

She writes: I left home after my family went to Arizona for job training. I guess my caretaker wasn’t keeping a close eye because I just left home and went for a stroll. In my neighborhood, our neighbors look out for each other and someone surely would have taken me in… so we think someone picked me up and took off.

An animal control officer picked me up about 45 miles from my house. I became a favorite at the shelter, which is a good thing, because they let me stay 10 days, much longer than the norm, just in case my family was searching for me. They were searching for me, but they were searching in the area where we live, not where I was dropped off.

On the day I made it on the shelter’s euthanasia list, I was super worried. Was I going to make it? But then a miracle happened… my shelter friends called rescue and my new rescue friends came to save me.

Y’all know the rest… I had a bath, got some meds for my skin and moved into a foster home!

Soon, someone saw my rescue pics on Facebook and contacted my family who were desperately looking for me. They never gave up. They put up signs, posted on social media and my skin sister cried herself to sleep every night.

My real name is Monae and I have always been loved. Please know my family did NOT crop my ears ~ that happened when I was 8 weeks old ~ before I joined my family.

I was so glad to see my family again! And really people, it was one of the best days of my life. I got to go home. My family cried big tears and said it was a miracle and that God was great. They also donated $500 to the rescue program so more dogs can be helped.

And oh yeah, I am now microchipped! But I am never gonna walk away again. My mom now is a hover-over-me type of mom, and my skin sister has not let me out of her sight. JLo Monae is out of here!

Talk about living on borrowed time… That was me!

I was picked up by the local animal control as I was strolling around town. I was hot and dirty, and I really needed a drink of water. I was thankful that I was given a ride.

I sat at the shelter for several days, wondering if anyone was missing me or if I was ever going home.

My ears are infected, my rear end is infected and for some reason, someone chopped my ears off close to my head. Why someone would want to make me look mean is beyond me.

My release date to leave the shelter was Wednesday. I waited and waited and waited. No one came. So, there I sat wondering why.

And then on Friday, I heard the worst news. The shelter had to start euthanizing dogs for space. That is the reality when there are too many dogs and not enough adopters. My heart sank. After all, I was dirty and smelled really bad.

I pleaded with my eyes to my shelter friends… “Please give me more time.” I certainly didn’t want to die. My shelter friend said my only hope of being saved was if she called rescue and they could take me.

On Saturday morning, when they put the leash around my neck, I didn’t know what my outcome would be.

However, when I rounded the corner and saw a pretty lady standing there, I had a little hope. She said she had come for me. All of a sudden, it was the HAPPIEST DAY OF MY LIFE!

In the time I was at the shelter, I made many friends. My friends came out and gave me a “high five” and told me I was one of the sweetest ladies that they had met in a long time. I high-fived them back, but then I sprinted out the door. I was done with the shelter life. I’m ready to begin a new life with a new family…. one who will make sure I am never neglected again.
