Joey Chestnut

Joey Chestnut

Joey Chestnut was adopted over the weekend! The meeting was perfect – it was like Joey just knew they were his new parents and was ready to go!

From his new mom, Nora: He’s catching on to the spoiling for sure. He’s sleeping by my side right now, but he spent the night in the den. That seems to work well.

When it’s time for bed, we walk him into den and close our door. He didn’t want to go, but he didn’t resist. He sat outside our door for a couple minutes, then we heard him shuffle to his bed, where he slept half in/half out all night.

This morning when dad went to make coffee, he woke up and came into the bedroom and climbed onto the bed.

He found the garden fountain yesterday and went straight for it. We have one small koi in there, and it swam up to him, but he didn’t seem to notice.

He totally killed his lobster toy last night.  It has crossed the Rainbow Bridge, but he loved it hard.

He is sooo PERFECT for us and we love him.

I have a story you may not believe.

One day, my family dropped me off at a friend’s house and they forgot to come back to pick me up. That’s right, they decided they didn’t want me any longer. I guess they thought I’d be happier there. Well, I am the kind of fella who would be happy anywhere ~ and that family didn’t want a Bulldog either.

Then one day, a really nice lady named Christie came over to the house. She came to check out a table she saw for sale on OfferUp through Facebook. Christie immediately knew that the family didn’t want me because my eyes were matted shut and I looked miserable.

The lady selling the table told Christie to take me too. Christie is a dog lover and knew giving me away on OfferUp could be very dangerous for me.

So, Christie took me too.

Christie has three senior dogs, one cat, two birds, two small kids, a husband and a wonderful life. She gave me a bath, some eye drops, some love and attention.

She also promised me that she would find a rescue who would love me and find me a fabulous family.

And now, here I am, the OfferUp Facebook Bulldog.

Everyone loved me and hugged me goodbye and told me if the circumstances were different, I could stay with them forever. But I understood. Three seniors need a lot of attention and I need a family who is going to love me forever.

I’m estimated to about 4 years old. I am 100% potty trained ~ I will bark to go out and I know to come back in. If you think you may be a good match for me, I hope you are putting in an application soon. I’m ready to win your heart!

7/11/23 Update:  Joey came to stay with us almost a week ago. He is truly a breath of fresh air! He is one of the sweetest guys I’ve met and is such a lover. He loves to cuddle on the couch with his foster and human siblings. He loves to play with his toys but he loves to play with a ball!

Joey hasn’t been to see Dr. Larsen yet but as soon as we can get in and get him all fixed up he’ll be closer to finding his perfect home!

We’re so excited for his future because he will be the biggest blessing on a family!

7/21/23 Update:  Joey is doing so great in his foster home! He is such a lover – and of everyone! He’s playing more and more with his foster siblings – both the ones with and without fur.

He is such a cuddle bug with the sweetest soul and will be the biggest blessing to the right family.

Joey got to go see Dr. Larsen and his favorite girls, Heather and Kat, this week. He loved how much they cared for him and started him on road his road to become a very healthy guy.

Joey is being treated for ear infections, some skin issues and unfortunately, will need to receive treatment for heartworms.

8/3/23 Update:  Joey Chestnut continues do so great in his foster home. He’s getting all fixed up and is looking amazingly! He came to rescue with infected hind legs and cysts between his toes, but now he’s mostly healed up with the help of daily Epsom salt foot baths. He also will continue his heartworm medication and daily eye drops. Joey is such a good boy who gets along with other dogs and all humans! Keep watching for more from Joey Chestnut updates.
