Johnny Cash

Johnny Cash

Johnny Cash had a very exciting weekend! Ben and Andi flew out and rented Johnny his very own mini van for the ultimate car adventure to his new home in South Carolina! There were lots of cuddles and hugs as the little heffalump said goodbye to his foster family and snuggled in with Andi for the long ride. They arrived home safely and Johnny is now beginning his new life! Update so far is that he has been a very good boy!

The date was written in stone. It was the day I was leaving the farm, hopping in the rescue wagon and ready to search for a new career.

I have always loved music and two-steppin’, but as of late, I have longed for a family, a couch, car rides and some vacations at the beach.

Dr. Larsen squealed when she saw me. She said I was one good lookin’ Bulldog and with a little minor surgery, I was going to loose my “lovin” feeling” toward the ladies. She also said I was a little “thick around the middle” and I should lay off the snacks. I am not sure about all that because I do love to eat.

I joined rescue with three of my friends. It was a great day. Lots of singing and swaying to the music, as we watched out the wagon’s windows, wondering where we were headed. We knew wherever we went, we were going to love being there.  Watch for updates about each of us in our journeys through rescue.

10/17/22 Update:   Johnny Cash is an amazing little chunk monkey who loves attention and toys. He’s a bit on the slow side and will play with other dogs kind of in slow motion. He met one of our cats and was a bit scared of her but walked past her with some cookies and encouragement. He also could care less about the livestock. I think he’s a bit tender footed and had to be carried back down the hill after the nasty sticky leaves touched his feet. Overall an easy going boy with the cutest butt wiggle! We’re going to work on his weight a little bit.

10/26/22 Update:  My foster momma calls me her sweet lil’ hefflelump because I’m such a love bug. I’m a hugger, so if you meet me, don’t be surprised if I try to climb into your lap so you can squeeze me! Country life is good. I’ve met some cows and pigs and I’ve been walking myself back down the hill!

11/1/22 Update:  Johnny continues to do well and enjoy new experiences! This week, he enjoyed being a shop dog and spending time with house guests. He also is less scared of the cats and wants to get a closer look! Johnny also enjoyed playing with his foster brother Diesel William.

11/14/22 Update:  Foster Mom has been so proud of me this week, as I learned that I LOVE to chew on bones! I like to carry them around and find good places to relax with them.

Foster Mom has been bathing me a lot lately to treat my skin. She tells me that I am the cutest little heffalump and a good boy while we wait for my bathtub timer to go off!

11/21/22 Update:  Foster Mom says we are going to continue working on my “bite inhibition.” When I get excited and want to play, she says my nibbles hurt and my human foster brother and sister don’t want to play with me because of it! Luckily, I’m learning to love my chew bone, so I can get my excitement out with it, instead of my nibbles. Otherwise, she says I’m still as cute as a button!

11/30/22 Update:  Johnny continues to do well in his foster home! He has become a chew bone junkie and loves carrying them around the house with him. This week, he got to snuggle next to his two-legged foster sister to watch the Grinch!
