Kaitlin

Today raised the trajectory of my life to the highest arc. A family who met me at the Bulldog Bonanza at Hollywood Feed in Allen asked me to join them furever. They wanted me to move in as a full family member!

When they arrived at my foster home, we cozied up on the sofa because they wanted a love bug. Are you kidding me?  Look up “love bug” and you will see my mug. I had them doing the belly rub within seconds of sitting.

My peeps reviewed the details of my food, meds, potty behavior, sleeping arrangements, and all the things a Bulldog needs to settle into her furever home. My new family had already bought beds, toys, food, snacks. Sounds like a good start to me!

Lone Star Bulldog Club Rescue has treated me so well, but who could have believed such good fortune?

I may make my new dad a marshmallow, just like my foster dad. I already have his number, as you can see for yourselves.

Foster peeps approved  of this déménagement, but I decided. My new family fitted me into my new harness for a seatbelt, and don’t I look stunning in it?  I would not be at risk on the ride home to Round Rock – that worked for me.

Everyone at Lone Star Bulldog Club Rescue does so much for us Bulldogs. We reciprocate with love, our best quality.

On the ride home, I thought about the broken road that lead me to rescue. How blessed am I to have been embraced into your arms?

I hesitated for a moment when we left, but at the final kiss, I assured my foster peeps that while I was finally in my furever home, they would always be my heart’s inspiration. This is what my heart sang as I departed….

Away I drove off with a piece of your heart

As my adoptive family gave me a new start

But I heard you exclaim, with a tear in your eye

Fare thee well, dear Katie, but never goodbye

My new friend Tina who picked me up from the shelter named me Kaitlin. She said I was beautiful and that she loved that name.

I licked her on the face, and she told me she loved me.

It’s been a long time since I heard those words. Most of the time, I just hear, “old” or “fat” and people pass on by.

I was picked up walking around in the heat and no one came looking for me. That was OK because I don’t think anyone has wanted me for a long time.

4My skin is a mess and so is my nose. My teeth look like no one ever took me to the vet for a dental. My ears are infected, and my nose rope has something growing underneath it.

But today, I joined rescue. I know better days are ahead! I’m going to have a bath first thing, so I can get to smelling better.

I am around 5 years old and I am hoping to find a family who will care for me for the rest of my life!

7-11-23 Update:  Are you looking for the perfect pint-sized Bulldog? Look no further… Kaitlin is your girl. At a whopping 38 pounds, she is sweet, slow, and perfect!

8/18/23 Update:  I recently checked into Chez Maison Ménard BBnB. The buzz around rescue raved about the haute cuisine at this venue. When I heard about a vacancy in the guest suite, and a call for occupants, I raised my paw to say, “J’aimerais y aller.” I have been studying French using Babbel.

Within a few days, I found myself in these idyllic quarters with multiple comfy beds, a private dining nook, and space to stretch my petite body. I could not believe my luck!

The culinary staff welcomed me with a selection of fresh fruits (cantaloupe was new to me, but I liked it, as strawberries and bananas), cheeses, and cold cuts. Who knew a girl could enjoy such luxury? When I asked about the missing dessert cart, I heard that my physique was not quite bikini-ready. Are you kidding me?

Sweetness describes my character.  Foster peeps have encouraged pack membership, but cautiously I proceed.  A girl must protect her security. I have mingled with my fur sisters from the security of my apartment and she shed.  They must earn my loyalty.

Wigglebutt (Lone Star Bulldog Club Rescue term for scuttlebutt) cites me as a high-demand adoption case. I am young, sweet, well-behaved, and utterly cute.

The foster peeps have started calling me Katie, a diminutive name for a diminutive girl. They treat us pups to Bulldog Happy Hour. So far, I have noshed on fresh fruit, pastry, mac n cheese, brisket, shrimp, egg and chicken salad  Who knew Bulldogs cold lead such a blessed life?

Check this out – I dine on warmed meals AM and PM! What Bulldogs do that? My  fur sisters here say every resident does. Sometimes, ya gets lucky!

I want another Bulldog to learn this lifestyle, so adopt me and allow room for another pup like I to move in.

11/24/23 Update:   I caught foster girl Kaitlin dreaming in the sunshine.

Earlier, I showed her the brining turkey. For Bulldog Happy Hour, I gave a little taste of the meat stuffing, some smashed taters with celery root and fennel, and homemade cranberry sauce (naturally sweetened, no sugar). She was still licking her chops when I let her out to do her doggy business. Then she collapsed in the arms of Morpheus to fantasize about Turkey Day.

We will celebrate our thanks for all of our Bulldogs and they will share in the feast.

Maybe Miss Katie can grace your home for Christmas. She behaves well, gets along with every fur and skin creature, wants to give and receive more love, and make her adoptive family as happy as they do for her.

She has grown accustomed to haut cuisine. If you visit our home, you get treated as family.
