INTRODUCTION: Klark Kent knows one thing for certain: he loves going for car rides. Always the first to jump in, he can barely contain his excitement.

But one day, his joyride took an unexpected turn when he found himself at a grocery store by the lake. There, a sign next to him read, “Bulldog $200.” What? Klark Kent know he had never done anything wrong.

As fate would have it, a kind man noticed him sitting in the heat and came to check on him. This man understood the risks of dogs being sold in parking lots and knew Klark Kent deserved better. With his own experience in rescue through his mother, he recognized Klark Kent needed to be saved.

Eager to explore his options, Klark Kent attended Bull-O-Ween to see what it was all about. He wanted to make sure that if he joined this rescue, his next family would be his forever family. Klark Kent loved mingling with all the other dogs, and this week, he officially joined our rescue. Now, all he needs is a loving family to call his own!

11/15/24 UPDATE:  I’ve been in my foster home for two weeks now, and I’m settling in. I had an appointment with Dr. Larsen last week, and she said I’m not a bad Bulldog—I’ve just never been told “NO” before! I’m super playful and overly loving, and I haven’t met a lap I don’t like.

Dr. Larsen also mentioned that I would do best with an experienced Bulldog handler and a family familiar with Bulldog personalities. I do have some habits I’m working on. For example, Foster Mom has been using belly bands on me because I tend to mark. I’m also not a fan of being restrained, but I’m making progress—I’m learning to trust my new foster family and adjust to the rules. I’m a work in progress, but I’m getting there!

12/6/24 UPDATE:  Things are progressing well in my foster home, and I’m getting much better at allowing personal care. In fact, Tina comes once a month to trim our nails, and I tried to “buffalo” her at first, refusing to cooperate. But guess what? Tina used to be a vet tech, so she knew exactly what to do. She scooped me up, wrapped me in her arms, and before I knew it, we were all done! She was so quick, I didn’t even realize what had happened.

Foster Mom has also learned that I don’t like the hose, but I love baths! I’ll even crawl into the shower with you without a second thought. I’m a big fan of playing with toys, my foster brother, and yes, even the trash can (though Foster Mom is not a fan of that last one!).

I’m still working on my marking issues, but we’re making progress. On a positive note, I’ve gained the few pounds Dr. Larsen said I needed. Meal time and treats are the highlights of my day—I get so excited, I quiver and drool a puddle! When it’s cold, I love to nest and snuggle up, making myself comfy.

2/7/25 UPDATE:  It’s been three months since I joined my foster family, and wow, what a ride it’s been! Foster Mom says I had a bit of a rough start, but boy am I turning things around!

When I first got here, I had to wear puppy pants inside all the time because I felt the need to mark everything. But guess what? I’m PANTS-FREE now! Yep, progress!

I absolutely love my walks on a leash, and chew toys are my jam. I also enjoy a good shuffle with my foster brother, Odin. I’m doing well with the basics, but I still get a little anxious when it’s time to trim my nails. I get so worked up, But thanks to Dr. Larsen and some little pills, I’m starting to feel a lot better about it.

I eat well, love car rides, and get along great with all dogs and people. At first, I can be a bit standoffish, but if you let me take my time to mosey up and sniff a few times, I’ll be in your lap before you know it!

And Foster Mom says I don’t pose well for pictures absurd, right? I’m just too handsome for the camera sometimes.

2/26/25 UPDATE:  Klark Kent, checking in.  Well I love the warm weather.  I have been outside sniffing every blade of grass, the entire fence line and my special “pee mail” tree.

I continue to be very loving and food oriented.  I have only had 1 marking episode since mom removed the belly bands.  I got caught and I got scolded…I knew what I did and sulked in the bed until forgiven.  Hope to see my furever family soon!!

7/12/25 UPDATE: Klark Kent needs a family! He writes: Let me tell you, life’s been pretty great on my end. Nothing major to report… just the usual snoring, occasional tooting, and soaking up the good life. 😄

I love baths so much that I couldn’t resist jumping into foster brother Odin’s bath—even though I was already clean and dry. Foster Mom just sighed and shook her head. What can I say? Water is fun!

Nail trims and deep ear cleanings? Still not my favorite. We’re working on it. But I’ve been a very good boy about keeping all my “marking” outside—thank you very much! ✅

I’ve also discovered the joy of chew toys, mastered the art of jumping and playing, and I’m as curious as ever. Last week, Foster Mom brought out her sewing table, and I might have tried to help organize the thread. Okay… I chewed a few. Just a few! But I’ve moved on from that phase. Probably. 😉

That’s all for now from your favorite silly, sweet, and slightly mischievous boy. Thanks for following my journey!

9/6/25 UPDATE:  He writes: Foster Mom keeps talking about something called the 2025 Bull-O-Ween. She’s been running around all week gathering things she calls silent auction goodies. I thought they smelled interesting, but apparently, I wasn’t allowed to chew on them. 😒

Her friend Lorie even donated some fancy bourbons. Pretty cool, right? I got to meet Mac, Mascato’s newest Bulldog-themed bourbon bottle.  Stay tuned. I might just make my superhero debut at Bull-O-Ween!
