Koko

Koko

12/30/25 AWESOME ADOPTION ALERT! From the foster and now forever momma: After fostering Koko for the past six months, we realized we simply couldn’t imagine our lives without her, so we made the joyful decision to officially welcome her into our family.

Koko has formed a beautiful bond with her fur sister, Zoey, who had been struggling after the loss of her best mate, Mason, to cancer earlier this year. Watching their connection grow has been incredibly healing for all of us.

Koko is truly the light of our lives, bringing endless joy to our hearts, comfort through her cuddles and so much love into our home. ❤️

6/28/25 INTRODUCTION:  Please welcome Koko to our rescue family! From the foster momma: Koko was deeply loved by her previous family, but sometimes life takes unexpected turns. Due to demanding work schedules, they weren’t able to spend the time with her that she deserved—so with heavy hearts, they made the decision to help her find a new beginning through rescue.

Now, Koko is settling into her foster home, and brighter days are ahead for this sweet girl. She’s 4 years old, weighs about 72 lbs., and has an adorable face that will absolutely melt your heart. ❤️ Her gentle, loving personality shines through in everything she does.

Koko does have one little quirk—she’s nervous about walking on smooth surfaces like wood or marble floors. To help her feel safe, she prefers to cross them using rugs or blankets. But here’s the good news: in just four days with her foster family, she’s already making great progress and bravely crossing longer stretches of flooring!

She also loves spending time outside when the weather is cool—check out her videos to see her happy tail wags in action!

We can’t wait to see Koko continue to blossom into the confident, brave girl we know she is. Stay tuned—her journey is just beginning! 🌟

7/4/25 UDPATE: Koko needs a family! From her foster momma: Koko has truly blossomed over the past two weeks! She’s come out of her shell and is now confidently exploring every corner of the house. No more tiptoeing across the wood floors on carpets and blankets—she’s got her stride now! 😄

She’s discovered her own kind of fun and currently prefers boxes and plastic bottles over traditional toys (we’re working on it! 😁). But above all, Koko is a cuddle bug at heart. She loves being close to her humans and is happiest just following them from room to room.

7/19/25 UPDATE: Koko needs a family! From her foster momma: Koko has grown by leaps and bounds. She now runs across the bare floor fearlessly to fetch toys and to explore (aka find food that drops on the floor while foster mom is cooking). She met a 1-year-old puppy last weekend and decided she does NOT like puppies. Other than that, she’s just living her best foster life!

8/9/25 UPDATE: Koko needs a family! From her foster momma: Koko is a sweet, quirky girl who knows exactly what she likes—and that makes her such a fun companion!

She loves when you take time to play with her, especially if squeaky toys are involved (those are her favorite!). She’s also a loyal little shadow, happily following you from room to room, just observing and enjoying being near you. She’s not overly demanding, but she does love gentle pets and affection on her terms.

Cool mornings or evenings? That’s Koko’s favorite time to hang out in the yard with her people. She’s perfectly content just being part of the family and taking in the fresh air.

Koko is looking for a home that respects her boundaries and appreciates her independent spirit. She prefers a calm environment without a lot of noise or chaos and would thrive as the only dog—or with another calm, respectful companion. She’s not interested in sharing her toys, food, or treats, and honestly, who can blame her?

While she’s not a fan of cuddling on the bed or couch, she finds comfort in her crate and likes having her own space. She’s the type of dog who bonds deeply but appreciates a bit of personal freedom.

Patience is key with Koko—she takes her time deciding when it’s time to go outside and doesn’t enjoy being rushed. She’ll let you know when she’s ready!

Koko may have a few unique preferences, but what she offers in return is a loyal heart, a playful spirit, and the joy of seeing a dog feel safe and loved just as she is.

10/14/25 UPDATE ~ We’re working to match Koko to the right family for her! She writes:  Sorry it’s been a little while since my last update. I’ve been busy living my best foster life!

Since we last checked in, I’ve met some lovely people (even from England!) who said I was the bee’s knees 🐝. I had a minor surgery, kept working on my confidence and I’m slowly learning that the world isn’t such a scary place after all.

Fun fact: I’ve discovered I absolutely despise fruits and veggies, unless they’re steamed carrots, which I’ll allow. 😉 I do love food, but I’m currently on a special prescription diet to help me lose a bit of weight and support my urinary health.

I love going for walks and meeting new dogs and people. I’ve even managed to win over the resident bulldog, Zoey, who apparently isn’t too quick to make new dog friends. 🐶❤️

Car rides? Not my thing. They make me pretty anxious. But once I’m back home, I’m all about playtime with my toys and cozying up with my people.

10/30/25 UPDATE ~ We’re working to match Koko to a great family for her! From her foster momma: Sweet Koko had a cozy weekend cuddling with me on the sofa and even the bed! At first, she was a little unsure about getting up on the furniture, but now she’s totally hooked, she hops right up all on her own! 😄

Koko is also really enjoying her morning and evening walks, especially now that the weather is cooler. When she’s not snuggled up on the sofa, you’ll probably find her perched at the window, keeping a close eye on the backyard and giving an enthusiastic bark or two at any butterflies that dare to flutter by. 🦋
