Sweet, gentle Lila Nicole left this morning for her perfect forever home. This lucky girl has a precious bulldog sister for a playmate. Lila’s mom, dad and bulldog sister traveled from Virginia to take her home. Happy trails for all.
I’ve had babies. I loved my babies and I raised my babies. I lived a very unselfish life, taking care of others who always came first and I was happy doing it.
One day, as I was watching TV, a commercial came on pushing something called “self care.” That raised an eyebrow and I was sucked in. I mean, I am good at taking care of others. But what if I learned to take care of myself? It only made sense that it would make me a better caregiver.
So, I listened to the whole commercial and at the end, they said the best place to get help was RESCUE!
I thought long and hard and decided to do something for myself for the first time ever. I made the call and just like that the rescue wagon showed up. I said goodbye to the old me and hello to finding the new me!
I was told that I now get to see any kind of doctor that I might need. They said I’d never have to worry about having or taking care of babies. I now get to learn what it feels like to be taken care of. I get to learn how to take care of humans in a new way, and most importantly, I get to put my care first.
I will miss being a mom because well, I was really good at it and I did it for about 3 years.
I’ve been assured that there are many things in my future that I will be great at, like snuggling on the couch, giving kisses, maybe being a protector, learning to vacuum the floor, sitting for treats…. The list goes on and on. I can’t wait to find my perfect family!
7/18/23 Update: Lila Nichole here checking in. I’ve only been in my new foster home for a few days. I’m getting used to the new routine.
The resident pups have been nice to me. Deuce and I love to run and play since he’s young like me. I don’t play with the toys very often, but I’m learning. When someone throws the ball, I run with Deuce. Then the silly pup returns it. Maybe I will understand this game soon. I love to lay outside, and foster mom makes me go inside when it gets too hot. I’m not very big so maybe you would like me to be your lapdog.
8/22/23 Update: Man down! Lila won the wrestling match. Her morning schedule is breakfast, play time and a morning nap. Then she is up and ready to go again. Sweet, gentle Lila is enjoying home life.
9/12/23 Update: Does my next family know that I am waiting for them? I love everyone and my dog friends. My favorite things are snuggling, good food, playing with toys. I have lots of energy so maybe we can go on lots of walks. I’m ready to meet you!
