Sometimes, finding the perfect family for our dogs can take some time. We fully understand there are not many people willing to adopt a senior because we all want as much time as possible with our loving dogs. But finding a family willing to adopt TWO seniors, together? Challenge accepted!
In comes an application from Paul and Cara, all the way from Massachusetts, and they are in the process of moving to Arizona.
This amazing family asked specifically about Lola Jean and William Knox (AKA Bill). Everyone in rescue was so excited. All the stars were perfectly aligned for this adoption to happen.
Lola Jean and Bill knew for weeks that something exciting was about to happen, and when their new family arrived, it was like they couldn’t hold in their excitement any longer.
When Lola Jean and Bill saw their parents, they immediately knew who they were. It was the perfect match for everyone! These two will be the only dogs in their new home, and will soon welcome a new skin brother.
They have a long road trip ahead to their new home in Arizona, but they love car rides and this gives them a perfect opportunity to bond closely with their new family.
After 465 days in rescue, it’s finally official… Lola Jean and William Knox are adopted!
Bulldog friends, it’s me Lola Jean and a few days ago my family dropped me and my friend Willam Knox off at a local shelter. We thought we were taking a drive around town. We were so surprised when we pulled up to the local shelter and we got out and we were left there. After all, we were happy together.
I don’t know if he is my brother or just my friend. Dr. Larsen says we are the same size and the same age (7), so I am thinking he’s my brother.
I need some medical help while I’m here. I have an eye and ear infection, and I need to have a surgery to stop the baby making business. And after all this gets done, I will be looking for a family that will love me forever.
My name is Lola Jean and Dr. Larsen said that me and William Knox are as sweet as can be!
4/11/23 Update: Lola Jean is doing great in her foster home. She gets along pretty well with the other dogs, knows how to use the dog door and is just a happy girl.
5/2/23 Update: Lola Jean is great being her foster Pop’s coworker. She loves to hang out under his desk and nap. After work, she enjoys snuggling. She picks & chooses who she gets along with, so she would be best as an only dog or with submissive dogs.
5/12/23 Update: Lola Jean absolutely loves people and gets along with most dogs. If she gets in a disagreement with another dog, she doesn’t hold a grudge.
Her favorite other dog in the house is her brother, William Knox. If you’re already approved and looking for two dogs that get along great with each other, be sure to ask your adoption coordinator about these two.
Lola Jean is mostly house trained and knows how to use the dog door.
She is NOT good around pools; she will walk right in if given the opportunity. If you are interested in Lola Jean and have a pool, then a safety fence is a MUST.
Lola Jean has dry eye in both eyes, so she requires prescription drops a few times a day. She didn’t like getting the drops at first, but now she’s does great!
Stay tuned for more updates.
5/30/23 Update: Lola Jean is a sweet girl who’s doing well in her foster home. She LOVES people and gets along with most dogs. She tends to be more dominant, so she prefers to be around more submissive dogs. She loves napping, snuggling, & treat time. Although she is on a diet because of arthritis in her legs. She has dry eye, so she has medicated drops & lube. Her ideal family would be laid-back and enjoy relaxing with her.
7/5/23 Update: Lola Jean is a sweet girl who eagerly awaits her furever home. She loves all people and gets along with most dogs. She does a great job of pottying outside and obeys when you call her name.
She would do best in a laid-back home where she can relax and be a couch potato. She’s more of a dominant dog and if other dogs are playing, she tries to put a stop to it. We call her the fun police.
She needs her eyes cleaned out a couple of times a day and has medicated eye drops. She does well with taking those.
If you’re looking to adopt two, look into her brother William Knox. They’re not a bonded pair, but they are buddies.
8/11/23 Update: Lola Jean gets along with the six other dogs in our home. She is more dominant, so she prefers submissive dogs.
She loves, loves, loves people, belly rubs and kisses.
She has dry eye and needs medicated drops a couple times a day, but she is great at eye-drop time. She has arthritis and is on joint supplements.
She’s really a great gal who needs to find her happily ever after!
8/22/23 Update: Todays wise words from foster girl Lola Jean: Love is when you look into someone’s eyes and see everything you need.
10/5/23 Update: Lola Jean is up for adoption! From the foster momma: Lola Jean is so photogenic and always ready with a pose. If you want a vogue model, she is your gal.
William Knox (right) loves to hang out with his sister, Lola Jean. They get along great and would do well if adopted together or separately. They just want homes to call their very own.
1/15/24 Update: Lola Jean, warming herself by the fire, is hoping for a furever home. She loves snuggling and being a couch potato. She gets along with most dogs as long as they don’t try to challenge her. She has some eye meds for dry eye and pain meds for arthritis. She doesn’t ask for much ~ she just wants a home of her very own.
1/25/24 Update: Lola Jean was not happy about the snow, but she was a good girl and went outside to do her business. She quickly warmed up by the fire after this shot!
2/29/24 Update: Lola Jean loves to snuggle up with her foster parents, as well as her brother William Knox. She mostly gets along with other dogs, but we also refer to her as the “Fun Police.” If other dogs are having fun in her presence, she tries to put a stop to it. Her vision is limited, so she can also become defensive if another dog catches her by surprise.
Lola Jean’s favorite time of day is breakfast and dinner. She is the leader of the “Clean Bowl Club” and absolutely LOVES to eat vegetables (carrots, broccoli, green beans, etc.).
She’s a great dog who is patiently waiting for the right family looking for a senior like herself, and hopefully someone that also wants to adopt her brother William Knox, as well.
3/5/24 Update: Lola Jean has been feeling under the weather this past week, so she asked to get in a crate for some relaxation. We left the door open because we never crate her, and we want her to be able to come and go as she pleases. We went to check on her and found my shoe in the crate with her. It was so funny, she has never done this before (in the nearly year she has been in rescue) and she did not destroy the shoe, she just thought it would look good on her.
3/29/24 Update: Just another glimpse into the bond that Lola Jean (top) and William Knox share. They would love to be adopted together if at all possible. Do you have room for these two? They’re always cuddling together, they love meal time, they are both potty trained AND they both can use the dog door. Lola Jean loves playing in water of any kind (puddles, etc.) and William Knox loves nap time. They don’t ask for much ~ just love and a warm home to call their own.
5/1/24 Update: The always photogenic Lola Jean had a blast at our Bulldog Bonanza at BAR 2909 yesterday. She was pretty in pink and really worked the room!
5/16/23 Update: Lola Jean soaked up some rays this week by the pool (with her friend, alumnus Tank) before the storms rolled in. On this Mother’s Day, she is wishing all the mommas out there a happy day! She is also hoping for a momma (and/or daddy) of her very own.
