Linda and David are no stranger to Bulldogs or to rescue. They have had dogs in their home for as long as they can remember.
This past winter, the unthinkable happened and they lost two of their Bulldogs within a week of each other. Their home had fallen silent and they were missing the sound of dog paws. They needed more wet kisses in their life.
When David and Linda met Louis Van Wrinkle, there was no doubt that this was the dog for them. The deal was sealed.
They instantly knew that Louis would be an amazing addition to their family. And in that same moment, Louis knew he was home. He spent an hour running around their backyard with a ball, playing like he’d always been there.
When it was time for his official adoption, he marched right on into the office, got a toy and crawled into one of the beds. He then ran into the living room, found the toy box and pulled out the toys, one by one. As his foster mama, I knew in that moment, that he was home.
The icing on the cake is Louie’s family is friends with the family of another one of my previous foster dogs, Lola Sinclair. Louis and Lola will get to hang out and share lots of future adventures.
My mom cried as she packed my stuff to go. Surrendering me was not a decision she took lightly, but it was something that needed to happen.
Due to some hard knocks, my mom had to get a second job just to pay the bills. That left me alone 14+ hours a day.
And we lived in a tiny house. Nothing wrong with a tiny house, unless you were me and alone there all day. The house got smaller and smaller, as I walked around all day looking for something to do. I’m only 2, so I still have a good energy level.
I’m a little shy when I meet new people, but I warm up fast. I love dogs, cats and kids. I am potty trained and walk great on a leash. Food time is my favorite time, and snacks are a must.
I’m going to visit Dr. Larsen so she can do a “once over” in case I need anything. And after that, I’ll be looking for a new family who will spend a lot of time with me.
3/8/24 Update: Louie has been settling into his foster home and he may be one of the sweetest pups ever. He is well mannered, gentle, and like any 2 year old, loves to play. Louie and Foster Sister Lori Amigo spend hours a day chasing each other around the house playing. When all the other dogs in the house are tuckered out, he’s content to play by himself.
3/19/24 Update: With all the rain this last week, Louie Van Wrinkle was happy to get outside and play today.
3/29/24 Update: Louie Van Wrinkle is a sweet, gentle dog who still has some puppy energy left in him. He can be a bit shy in new surroundings. He had entropion surgery this week and will be recovering over the next couple weeks. He has been a perfect gentleman for his foster family. Louie van Wrinkle is looking for a family to call his own!
4/9/24 Update: Louie recently had entropion surgery and he’ll get his sutures out next week. He has been going stir crazy in the meantime. He wants to play with his ball, but that darn cone keeps getting in the way.
Louie Van Wrinkle is looking for an adopter who will play fetch with him. Is that you?
