4/13/26 AWESOME ADOPTION ALERT! From volunteer Tina: Lucy Laney was only supposed to spend a couple of hours with us. Then it turned into a couple of nights while she waited for her foster placement.
That’s all it took. We fell completely in love.
We were hooked. Lucy Laney was perfect for us from the very beginning. And the fact that she’s deaf? That just made her even more perfect, especially on game days, when she can peacefully nap through all the yelling at the TV.
Speaking of TV, this girl loves a good true crime show. It didn’t take long to realize she’s the perfect companion for cozy evenings on the couch with mom.
A very special thank you to Karen for fostering Lucy Laney and giving her so much care and love. We are forever grateful for the role you played in bringing her into our lives.

1/12/26 INTRODUCTION ~ Please welcome Lucy Laney to our rescue family! Lucy Laney’s former mom described herself as an “empty nester, without a nest.”
For many years, life was good. Lucy Laney had a family, a home and the comfort of routine. Then everything changed. When her mom lost her job and her housing, Lucy Laney and her mom found themselves living in a car, and sometimes in a hotel, doing their best to hold on together.
For two long months, the car was home. But the strain became impossible to ignore. Lucy Laney developed an ear infection, her nails grew too long, her allergies flared and the stress took its toll on them both. On surrender day, tears fell like rain.
Lucy Laney is 8 years old, and like most seniors, she enjoys her naps, but she’s also happy, alert and full of personality. She had no trouble strolling through the garden center, barking proudly to let everyone know she’d spotted the wind rustling the leaves.
This beautiful senior girl needs a soft place to land… a peaceful retirement home where she can be loved and cared for. Lucy Laney still has many good years ahead of her, and she’s ready to spend them with someone who will cherish her as much as she deserves.
2/26/26 UPDATE ~ We’re working to match Lucy Laney to a great family for her! From the foster momma: Lucy Laney may be 8 years old, but don’t let that number fool you! Lucy Laney still loves her daily walks, can hop right up on the couch and happily climbs the stairs to snuggle into bed at night.
Lucy Laney is an independent lady, but she likes to keep her person close by. She even has a “human boyfriend” who lovingly calls her his “ballgame dog.” Deafness doesn’t slow her down one bit. She’s right there for every game, cheering on her favorite teams in her own special way.
Lucy Laney is wonderful with other dogs, fully potty trained and absolutely beautiful inside and out. Truly, what more could you ask for?
