Luna Montana (now Emmylou Harris)

Luna Montana (now Emmylou Harris)

7/25/26 AWESOME ADOPTION ALERT! From the foster pops: Luna Montana found her home with her new mom, Haley, on Thursday. It may take surgery to remove the smile from our faces.

According to Haley: “I again want to thank the both of you for taking such good care of Luna (Emmylou Harris). I knew we all meshed well, but this has been the easiest transition ever with the dogs. It took Toby a little while to get comfortable, but not her! We spent the evening hanging out, she ate all of her food (both the old and new), and quickly claimed her favorite spots—Toby’s kennel and the cowhide rug. Since she loves the cowhide rug so much, I decided to give her another country-western name: Emmylou Harris. She even slept in the bed with us on her first night. Thank you for loving her and taking such excellent care of her until we were able to find each other.”

For those wondering, Toby is Haley’s resident Bulldog, and naturally, he had to approve his new sister. Judging by the photos, we’d say the introduction was a complete success.

If Luna Montana (now Emmylou Harris) could have spoken during our final goodbye, we imagine she would have said:

“I didn’t hesitate when we left because I knew I was headed home. But with that final kiss, I wanted you, my foster peeps, to know that while I’ve found my forever family, you’ll always hold a special place in my heart.”

Meg and I are incredibly grateful for the dedication and support of our fellow Lone Star Bulldog Club Rescue volunteers who helped make this adoption possible.

No matter how many dogs we foster, every adoption brings the same emotional ride. We celebrate the joy of watching a Bulldog find the family they were meant for, while quietly mourning the empty bed, the missing snorts and the absence of another beloved personality. The happiness and heartache always arrive together, but in the end, only one thing matters:

The Bulldog.

As Emmylou Harris rode toward her new life, we imagined her heart singing:

Away I drove off with a piece of your heart,
As my adoptive family gave me a brand-new start.
But I heard you whisper, with a tear in your eye,
“Fare thee well, dear Bulldog… but never goodbye.”

4/24/26 INTRODUCTION ~ Please welcome Luna Montana to our rescue family.

Four-year-old Luna Montana believed she had found her forever home. With her sweet, soulful eyes and low-hanging belly ~ a quiet reminder of a past life likely spent as a devoted Bulldog momma ~ she carried both love and history with her. But those days were behind her. She stepped into a new chapter, becoming the cherished companion of a kind senior woman who adored her completely.

For a time, Luna Montana was everything to her mom. Her comfort, her joy, her constant presence. But life took an unexpected and heartbreaking turn. As Alzheimer’s began to take hold, there were days her mom recognized Luna Montana, and days she didn’t. Each moment of confusion was painful to witness, for both Luna Montana and the family who loved them.

Eventually, the family had to make an incredibly difficult decision. It was no longer safe for Luna Montana to be left alone, and their focus had to shift to caring for their mother. Saying goodbye was devastating. Tears fell freely as they let go of both the woman they once knew and the dog she loved so deeply.

Through their grief, one hope remains: that Luna Montana will find another home where she is treasured just as she once was… a place where she can be someone’s princess again.

Luna Montana weighs 41 pounds and is visiting the vet for a full evaluation. She may need some extra care, including attention to her eyes and possibly tail surgery, but she is so worth it. Beneath it all is a loving, loyal dog ready to give her whole heart to someone new.

Stories like Luna Montana’s are why we urgently need more foster families in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. Opening your home, even temporarily, can change everything for dogs like her… giving them safety, stability and a chance to heal while they wait for their next chapter. If you’ve ever considered fostering, now is the time. Dogs like Luna Montana are counting on it. Message us to learn more.

5/12/26 UDPATE ~ From foster girl Luna Montana: Greetings, admirers. My name derives from romance languages because I am a romantic Bulldog. It translates to Moon Mountain. I will choose from several nicknames, but Looney, Monty and Mooney don’t make the cut.

During my recent vetting adventures, I heard whispers of a lovely little establishment called Chez Maison Ménard BBnB, complete with a guest suite, private dining accommodations and attentive staff dedicated to my comfort both day and night. Naturally, I checked myself in immediately.

Unfortunately, shortly after arrival, I learned I would be undergoing surgery at BOTH ends… eyes and backside. Honestly, the level of maintenance required to preserve this much beauty is exhausting.

Now, before everyone asks why my glamorous face is hidden behind what appears to be a satellite dish from outer space… yes, I am currently sentenced to wearing “the cone” 24/7 for the next two weeks while I heal. I personally feel it clashes terribly with my aesthetic, but apparently “safety first” is the theme around here.

The good news? Once this healing period is over, the grand reveal of my true beauty will finally happen. And trust me… this cone is hiding quite the adorable face. 💕

For now, I’m focusing on rest, recovery, naps, dinner and convincing my foster people that I deserve extra snacks for emotional support.

Stay tuned for future Luna Montana updates. Once this cone comes off, I fully expect hearts to be broken everywhere.

5/17/26 UPDATE ~ From foster girl Luna Montana: Lady Luna Montana here with Montana-sized news… I have officially shed my garrote à la gorge. And good riddance to that nonsense. Freedom looks fabulous on me.

Even more exciting, my personal kingdom has expanded. I have graduated from guest room confinement to FULL HOUSE privileges. This newfound freedom has allowed me to explore the premises and rediscover the fine art of giving and receiving love.

Naturally, I have claimed several strategic lounging locations near my foster dad while reclining elegantly on my day bed. He frequently reaches down to stroke my velvety face and whisper sweet compliments. I find this arrangement most acceptable.

And speaking of faces… have you seen my squishy beauty? Before now, no one could truly appreciate my magnificent Bulldog features in all their glory. I can practically hear hearts melting from here.

Also, I really enjoy relaxing under the shaded patio on my newly discovered Coolaroo bed. As the youngsters say… it’s a vibe.

Now hear this…. 411 for all you pups and people too young to remember: I am well on my way to rehabilitation and will soon be ready to join a family of my own.

Until then, my foster peeps and I are carefully reviewing the approved applications. I’ve been informed that gorgeous, loving Bulldogs such as myself do not stay available long at this popsicle stand.

6/14/26 UPDATE ~ From foster dog Luna Montana: Not too many weeks ago, my world felt pretty heartbreaking and uncertain. Learning to trust and love again hasn’t always been easy, but I’ve been working on it, one paw step at a time.

Thankfully, I landed in a foster home that understands me. They’ve done this “Bulldog rodeo” before, and they’ve been helping me feel safe, steady and loved every day.

Now? I’m discovering what peace looks like.

I’m learning how to accept love, and even give it back in my own gentle way. Bulldog kisses included. 💕 My foster family takes great care of me, from my skin and ears to all my little quirks, and they’ve shown me what it feels like to truly settle in.

I’ve also discovered the joy of a good Coolaroo bed (strategically placed behind the living room sofa, of course) and a well-loved toy always within reach. Toys make me very happy, and I hear ball games might be next on my list!

Every day, I feel a little more confident, a little more playful, and a little more ready for my next chapter.

So here’s my official announcement: I’m preparing for graduation to “exemplary good girl” status at record speed.

I may love my foster home, but I know my next family is out there waiting for me.

If you think that might be you, please send in your application and maybe we’ll be a match! My heart is ready when you are.

6/18/26 UPDATE ~ From foster dog Luna Montana: I am excited to report that I have officially graduated to Foster Dad’s bed in the doggy dormitory. Can you spell ‘cuddle bug?’ ❤️

My ultimate goal is to sleep there every night, but first I must conquer the occasional indoor oopsie. My peeps have been working patiently with me as I continue to master the art of exterior excreta. Part of my challenge may be that I have a bit of a Goldilocks complex… I simply can’t decide which bed is just right.

I have discovered that I absolutely love my elevated Coolaroo beds. They’re much better than flat crate pads or ordinary dog beds. Add a cozy blanket on top, and I am one happy Bulldog. Some might call me spoiled, but I prefer to think of myself as well loved.

Fortunately, my foster family reminds me that this is not their first Bulldog rodeo.

They have helped me conquer my fears and shown me how wonderful life can be. I have learned how to accept love and how to give it right back. They care for my ears, skin and other ailments with dedication and patience, and because of them, I am learning how to become the very best companion for my future family.

I know I will make someone’s home a happier place.

If you think I might be the missing piece of your family, maybe we’ll be a perfect match.

As Richard Marx sang so eloquently: “I will be right here waiting for you.” ❤️

TTFN,
Luna Montana
