10/31/26 AWESOME ADOPTION ALERT! From the foster momma: After about a month and a half with our family, Maggie Mae West found her new home with a wonderful couple, Erika and Jeff!
Erika has been a friend of the rescue for many years and previously adopted through our organization. She and Jeff recently said goodbye to Miss Pippa Lou, their beloved 15-year-old Bulldog, and they have now found a perfect match in Maggie Mae West. She will be their only dog, with plenty of love, attention and spoiling ahead!
As an extra-special bonus, Erika owns P Dawg Accessories! She handcrafts accessories especially for Bulldogs. We can already picture Maggie Mae West being the cutest little model for her creations!
This was our first experience fostering and going through an adoption, and saying goodbye is certainly bittersweet. Maggie Mae West is such a sweetheart and completely stole our hearts. Erika and Jeff have been so thoughtful and understanding of our attachment to her, and we are grateful that we’ll be able to stay in touch and receive updates.
More than anything, we are happy knowing Maggie Mae West found a loving home where she can settle in for the rest of her life – no more shelters or moving from one family to another. She deserves that security and so much love.
Thank you for letting us be part of her journey. We’re grateful for the time we shared with her and look forward to helping other Bulldogs find their own happy endings.
Warmly,
Alona and family

9/12/26 INTRODUCTION ~ Please welcome Maggie Mae West to our rescue family
Maggie Mae West is a 6-year-old Bulldog who came to us after being found as a stray in Little Elm. She was microchipped, and the shelter made multiple attempts to reach her family. Although someone did contact the shelter claiming to be her owner, they never followed up or responded to the shelter’s many calls and messages. After three weeks with the shelter, Maggie Mae West needed someone to step up for her.
But to be honest, we almost had to say no.
That’s because Maggie Mae West doesn’t do well with other dogs. That made finding a foster home for her especially difficult, and at the time, we simply didn’t have anywhere for her to go. We were running out of options.
Then, almost as if the timing had been written for her, a new foster family entered the picture.
When we tell you they were a miracle, they really were. ❤️
Alona and David recently lost their beloved Winston, and their home was still aching from his loss. They weren’t ready to make a permanent commitment to another Bulldog, but they had decided that fostering might be a way to help ease the pain while giving another Bulldog a safe place to land.
And they have no other dogs.
The moment the family was approved to foster, Alona was on her way to the shelter to save Maggie Mae West.
The timing was nothing short of impeccable. A Bulldog who couldn’t live with other dogs desperately needed a foster home. A family grieving the loss of their own Bulldog had opened their hearts to fostering. And somehow, these two found each other at exactly the right moment.
Maggie Mae West is starting to settle in at her foster home. The shelter staff told us she had been previously treated for anxiety, but she’s doing so well, we don’t think we’ll need additional meds. She’s getting comfortable and bringing some much-needed joy back into a home that had been missing it. ❤️
We don’t know exactly what Maggie Mae West’s past holds. We do know she was loved and cared for for most of her life, and we know she deserves the chance to feel safe, loved and wanted again.
Sometimes rescue is all about a door opening at exactly the right moment.
Maggie Mae West, welcome to Lone Star Bulldog Club Rescue. We’re so glad we didn’t have to say no to you.

And this is why foster homes matter. Every foster family gives us another door to open, and sometimes, that door is the difference between saying “we can’t take her” and saying “yes, we can save her.”
We need more families willing to open their homes and hearts to Bulldogs who need a second chance. Our foster families must live in the DFW area so they can be close to our partner veterinarians and participate in our public events.
Could you be the next open door? Message us to learn more!
9/20/26 UPDATE ~ From the foster momma: We’ve officially had Maggie Mae West for one week now, and she has been such a sweetheart! She settled into our home and routine surprisingly quickly and already seems very comfortable here.
Maggie Mae West is wonderful with our kids and absolutely loves being around people. She always wants that human presence nearby. She can get a little overly excited when we have visitors or after a walk, but otherwise, she is very calm and sweet. She was on anxiety medication, but so far she seems to be doing very well without needing it.
She is fully potty trained. We haven’t had a single accident in the house. She’s active, handles the stairs well, and has figured out our household routine very quickly.
One of my favorite little milestones has been watching her discover toys. At first, she had almost no reaction to toys or squeaky toys and didn’t seem interested in playing fetch. Slowly, she has started getting excited about them and now loves chasing after a toy when I throw it. Returning it is still a work in progress. 😂
Overall, Maggie Mae West is doing wonderfully, and we’re really enjoying having her in our home.
10/3/26 UPDATE ~ From the foster momma: Maggie Mae West is settling in well and enjoying life in our foster home. She loves people and being part of the family’s daily routine. On my work-from-home days, she’s usually by my side, asking for attention or napping nearby.
Her playful side is coming out – she’s enjoying toys, entertaining herself, and even trying fetch. She walks well on a leash and has plenty of energy for stairs and hopping onto the couch. She’s also become more watchful of the house, occasionally barking at people passing the window.
She makes sure she’s included in family activities, especially our younger son’s bedtime reading, and has claimed her own spot on our bed. Overall, she’s a sweet, well-behaved girl who enjoys company, attention and a good treat!
10/11/26 UPDATE ~ From the foster momma: Maggie Mae West had a fun week getting into the Halloween spirit! She attended a doggy trunk-or-treat event, where she soaked up plenty of attention and happily collected treats. And really, isn’t that what Halloween is all about?
The outing also confirmed something I had been concerned about: Maggie Mae West isn’t a fan of sharing her space with other dogs. But knowing what a dog needs to thrive is an important part of finding the right match!
Otherwise, Maggie Mae West is doing well, and we’re waiting for her upcoming wellness check.
