Maysie

Maysie

Introducing the drop-dead gorgeous Maysie! This five-year old lady tips the scales at a dainty 42 pounds, and frankly, is too cute for her own good.

This little love bug was picked up from a shelter in Cedar Hill and came into rescue in terrible shape due to her time spent as a puppy mill mama and being overbred. She is still missing a few patches of hair (they may never grow back), but Maysie is beautiful inside and out. Her awesome foster mom and all the other wonderful volunteers have done a great job getting her cleaned up and ready to take over your living room sofa.

Maysie’s health isn’t perfect, but given her sad past, she’s doing very well. She initially spent three weeks at Total Care Animal Hospital getting over kennel cough and some other issues, but that seems to be all cleared up. Left untreated, she has a problem with dry eyes, which has partially deteriorated her vision, although meds have helped there. She has some hearing issues that affect her ability to determine sound location, but will come running as long as she can see you calling her. Unfortunately, Maysie spent much of her life confined to a crate, which has negatively affected her joints. For these reasons, she may require some special attention, or someone who has had experience with special needs or neglected dogs.

Maysie is a very affectionate girl despite her difficult life so far, and she is happiest being with her people. She is young at heart and her temperament is as good as can be. She loves other dogs, doesn’t notice cats, and is generally good with kids, but she can be a little “too loving” around children that are still crawling. She is affectionate and playful, and enjoys spending time with her humans. She is crate-trained, leash-trained, and doesn’t have any aggression, but given her past as a puppy-mill dog, she isn’t quite house-trained yet. When she’s not snuggled up next to you, Maysie can be found chewing bones or playing in the doggie pool.

Maysie’s foster mom says she loves people, to kiss, to snuggle, and to lay under the desk while you work. She is ready to give so much love in return for a home of her own and a peaceful life. She has won over her foster mom who writes: “Maysie is a special needs girl that will require someone who wants to devote much of their time to a wonderful new family member. All energy invested however will be paid back with love and devotion tenfold.” Who doesn’t want someone like Maysie in their life?

Maysie is up to date on her vaccinations, spayed and on heart worm preventative. Maysie’s adoption fee is $450.
