Mookie Mistletoe

Mookie Mistletoe

4/9/26 AWESOME ADOPTION ALERT! From the foster momma: After waiting patiently for a family to call her own, Mookie Mistletoe’s big day finally arrived and it was worth every second.

On Tuesday, her new mom and dad Heather and Brian made the long drive up from the Houston area, hearts set on bringing this sweet Bulldog home on Wednesday. From the moment they met her, it was clear this was meant to be. Mookie, with her signature charm and wiggly personality, quickly made herself right at home with them.

But the family introductions didn’t stop there. She also met her new fur brother, Hank, a handsome Rhodesian Ridgeback. With his calm confidence and gentle nature, Hank is the perfect match to help Mookie settle in and show her the ropes. We can already imagine the two of them lounging side by side, sharing toys and becoming the very best of friends.

Mookie’s journey to this moment has been filled with love, care and hope. And now she has everything she’s been waiting for: a devoted family, a canine companion and a home where she’ll be cherished forever.

Thank you to Heather and Brian for making the trip and opening your hearts to this special girl. And to Mookie, your happily ever after has just begun!

2/11/26 INTRODUCTION ~ Please welcome Mookie Mistletoe back to rescue! She writes: After being adopted about a year ago, I’ve found my way back to rescue. Sometimes even when everyone tries their best, it turns out not to be the right fit. In my case, the resident dog and I decided we just weren’t meant to share a home.

The good news? I’m back in a great foster home, feeling loved and supported while I wait to be matched to a great family. I know my perfect match is out there!

A few things to know about me:

  • No cats, please 🐱
  • I absolutely love cuddles
  • Walks and car rides are some of my favorite things
  • I do great with kids

I’ve learned a lot this past year, and I’m ready for a fresh start with a family who’s the right fit for me. Could that be you?

2/18/26 UPDATE ~ From the foster momma: Mookie Mistletoe is such a sweet, good girl. She’s settling in beautifully and gets along wonderfully with our resident female dogs.

Lately, she’s been loving her outdoor time. Happily soaking up the sunshine, exploring the yard, and just enjoying being a dog. ☀️🐾 She’s also making great progress with her house training and continues to improve every day.

Mookie Mistletoe walks nicely on a leash and truly enjoys her strolls. She’s calm, eager and so full of potential.

ORIGINAL INTRODUCTION ~ Today, on Christmas Eve, I made a big move — I joined rescue! I figured, what better day to start a new chapter than Christmas Eve? And don’t worry, I stopped by the mall, told Santa I was changing addresses, and he promised he’d find me and fill my stocking with everything my heart desires.

My name is Mookie Mistletoe, and I’m a 3-year-old Bulldog. Now, you might be wondering why I joined rescue. Well, here’s my story: My dad has always loved Bulldogs and was familiar with our breed. So, he brought me home thinking I’d be the perfect companion for his French Bulldog, Lilly. At first, I thought it was going to be the best situation ever! I loved the Frenchie — she was fun and I thought we’d be great pals.

Turns out, Lilly didn’t feel the same way. She was perfectly happy being the only dog in the house and didn’t want to share her space with me. No matter how charming I was, she was the boss, and she made it clear. I got a new crate, toys, and even a new harness, but nothing mattered. Lilly was the queen of the house, and she made sure I knew it. She patrolled my crate and wouldn’t let me out, and she wouldn’t play with me either.

Eventually, my dad realized things weren’t working. He saw that no one was happy, especially me, and knew I deserved so much more. So, I got the warmest goodbye hugs and a fresh start with rescue. Even though I had just moved to Texas, it wasn’t the warm welcome I was hoping for. My new dad was amazing, but the Frenchie? She was something else! Let’s just say she’s content being the queen of everything — and I wasn’t her favorite.

So, if you ever meet a Frenchie named Lilly, just know — she’s the boss, and she didn’t want me to be her sidekick. But now, I’m ready for my next home, and I can’t wait to see what my future holds.
