12/20/25 AWESOME ADOPTION ALERT! From the foster and forever momma: Well, it finally happened. A foster pup came into our home that we just couldn’t let go!
Nutmeg Oneida joined rescue back in October and by chance , she ended up our foster dog. Then something serendipitous happened: she slipped into our home as if she’d always belonged there. While other foster pups passed through, Nutmeg Oneida stayed calm and confident, almost like she knew exactly where she was meant to be. ❤️
From the very beginning, she worked her magic: endless snuggles, sweet cuddles and those goofy smiles and head tilts that make it impossible not to fall in love. One by one, she claimed every heart in the house. And she made it look easy.
Over the last few years as a foster family we have opened our home to dozens of dogs, sending each off with love to their forever homes. But Nutmeg Oneida was different. She fit seamlessly into our lives…. curling up in bed at night, waiting eagerly by the door for the kids to get home from school and settling into the daily routine like she’d been part of it all along.
2025 was a hard year for us. We lost both of our beloved Bulldogs and while we continued to foster, the house felt a little emptier. Nutmeg Oneida filled that space with warmth, comfort and joy. And before long, it was clear: this wasn’t fostering anymore. She was home.
Today, we celebrate the very best kind of outcome… not just an ending, but a beautiful new beginning. 🧡

Because sometimes, the dog chooses the family and the family chooses her right back.

10/6/25 INTRODUCTION ~ Please welcome Nutmeg Oneida to our rescue family!
Nutmeg Oneida woke up this morning, packed her crate, bowls and food, and told herself:
“Today is the day. I’m ready to find a family who understands me and has time to teach me how to be the best version of me.”
You see, Nutmeg Oneida really did try. But with a house full of kids and everyone going in different directions, it was hard for her to stay focused on the basics:
1️⃣ The bathroom is outside.
2️⃣ Small kids can be overwhelming but not scary.
3️⃣ Clothing on the floor isn’t for marking then sitting on.
4️⃣ The crate is a safe space, not a DIY project for her teeth.
Now that you know her struggles, here’s a little about her past. Nutmeg Oneida spent her early years as a “baby maker,” having litter after litter, loving them, and then losing them. Once her breeding days were over, she was posted on social media looking for a new home.
Her most recent family fell in love at first sight. They had always dreamed of a Bulldog, never a puppy, but a mature lady just like her. Unfortunately, they didn’t realize what they were actually getting: a dog who needed time, training and patience to unlearn her past.
When Nutmeg Oneida arrived at rescue today, one of our volunteers smiled and said:
“Everything you’re describing is classic for a former breeding Bulldog. With time, patience and love, she’s going to make someone an amazing pet.”
Then she kissed Nutmeg Oneida on the head and told her, “Nutmeg, you look perfect to me.”
And she really is… 35 pounds of potential, love and Bulldog charm just waiting for the right person to help her shine.
11/12/25 UPDATE: We’re working to match Nutmeg Oneida to a great family for her! From her foster momma: This sweet gal knows how to find the comfiest spot in any house! From the moment she arrived at her foster home, Nutmeg Oneida made a beeline for the biggest, softest dog bed she could find — and she’s been living the cozy life ever since. 💕
Nutmeg Oneida is a total cuddler who loves nothing more than spending her evenings right beside her foster mom. She’s also got a playful side — she adores her foster sister, Nina Lovebug, and never says no to a good toy session!
Don’t let her gentle nature fool you, though — this girl’s got personality! She’s not shy about pawing at you for more pets or using her voice to remind the neighborhood squirrels (and the neighbors!) that she’s on patrol. 🐿️💬
Nutmeg may be young, but she knows exactly what she wants: love, playtime and a cozy place to call her own. ❤️
