Oneida

8/7/26 AWESOME ADOPTION ALERT!

Some dogs in rescue find their family quickly. Others have to wait a little longer for the people who are meant to be theirs.

Oneida was one who waited.

When she joined our rescue in February, she had already known what it was like to wander without a home and to sit day after day in a shelter kennel, waiting for someone who never came. She left that shelter as a heartworm-positive girl with skin issues and a healing journey ahead of her.

Once she was safe in rescue, Oneida showed us exactly who she was: incredibly affectionate, wonderfully enthusiastic and sometimes just a little intense. 🥰 Deep down, all this girl ever wanted was to be loved and to know that her next meal was guaranteed.

As the months passed, Oneida was introduced to several families. And each time, she was passed over.

We started to wonder if her perfect family would ever come along.

And then… something happened. Maybe it was fate. ❤️

The Galindo family came to us looking to be matched with the dog who was meant to be theirs. And just like that, Oneida was their girl.

From the moment she arrived at their home, Oneida seemed to know. She spent that very first day watching her new mom and dad as if she were thinking, “Yep. These are my people.”

Oneida helps her mom keep the squirrels out of the fruit trees, enjoys her daily walks and when those little Bulldog legs start to get tired, her dad has her covered. He built her a cart so she can still come along for the adventure!

This adoption is extra special.

It’s the kind of adoption where, after months of waiting, you start to wonder if your foster dog might just be with you forever. And then, when you least expect it, the perfect family walks through the door.

Oneida waited.

She was patient.

She never gave up.

And neither did we.

From a lonely dog waiting in a shelter kennel to a beloved family member with her very own cart… look at her now. 💜

Oneida finally has exactly what she always deserved: a family who adores her, a home where she belongs, full bowls, soft places to rest and the promise that she will never be passed over again.

Congratulations, Oneida and the Galindo family! Your happily ever after was absolutely worth the wait.

2/21/26 INTRODUCTION ~ Please welcome Oneida to our rescue family.

Oneida wandered without a home. Then, after she was taken to a local shelter, no one came looking for her. Day after day, she waited quietly in her kennel, hoping for a family that never arrived.

But that was not the end of her story.

Today, Oneida walked out of those shelter doors and into a new beginning. She made it to rescue. She is safe. She is finally seen.

Now her real life begins… with soft beds, gentle hands, full bowls and the promise of a wonderful new home.

Oneida is about 5 years old and weighs 42 pounds. She is heartworm positive and has skin issues that need treatment before she’ll be ready for adoption. She has a healing journey ahead of her and we are committed to giving her everything she needs.

If you’d like to help dogs like Oneida get the medical care they deserve, please consider supporting our current apparel fundraiser: 🍀 Sláinte to Bulldogs! 🍀 All funds raised go directly toward vet bills for dogs like Oneida. Wear your support. Change a life.

3/25/26 UDPATE ~ From the foster momma: Oneida checked out of the vet and is settling into her foster home!

It will be a little while before she’s ready for her next family as she focuses on healing, completing heartworm treatment and eventually being spayed. For now, she’s soaking up all the good meals, rest and loving care she’s been missing.

After going so long without consistent food, Oneida can be a bit bossy at mealtime if she thinks she might miss out. We’re taking things slow to help her feel safe, secure and confident, showing her she’ll never have to worry about her next meal again.

4/30/26 UPDATE ~ Heartworm prevention isn’t optional. It’s protection.

Sweet foster girl Oneida had to visit the vet yesterday to begin treatment for heartworms, and it’s not easy on her. Heartworms can be painful, stressful and life-threatening… but they’re also almost completely preventable.

Treatment typically costs $800–$1,000, while prevention is simple and affordable. A monthly dose can save your dog from all of this.

Let Oneida be the reminder: prevention is so much easier than treatment. Protect your pups.

5/5/26 UPDATE ~ From her foster momma: Oneida is currently resting and recovering like a champ as she undergoes heartworm treatment following her procedure last week. This process isn’t easy, especially with about 30 days of crate rest, but she’s handling it like a true trooper.

Oneida’s perfect home will be one where she can finally feel like the queen she was always meant to be. It’s clear she hasn’t always been valued or cared for the way she deserved, and she’s still learning what stability and love look like.

She’ll thrive with a confident, consistent owner who can provide structure, guidance and clear boundaries. Right now, she’s still working on her manners and learning limits, but she has so much potential to grow into an incredible companion.

Despite her past, Oneida is incredibly loving and just wants to be close to her people. She was likely underfed for some time, so mealtimes can feel a bit intense, but she’s already making progress and learning that she’s safe now.

Oneida is looking for a home that will give her the love, structure, and security she’s been missing. And in return, she’ll give you her whole heart.

7/27/26 UPDATE ~ We’re looking for a great family for Oneida!

From her foster momma: Oneida is a sweet girl who is discovering what it means to be loved. Every day, she grows a little more confident, a little more affectionate, and a little more trusting that she will never go without food again.

Based on where she started, we don’t think life was very kind to Oneida. She appears to have known little beyond being used for breeding and not having enough to eat. Because of that, mealtime can still be a little intense. However, the progress she’s made over the last three months has been nothing short of amazing.

Oneida is looking for a patient family that understands healing takes time. She’ll need people who are willing to continue teaching her boundaries, celebrate her victories, and let her learn at her own pace. In return, they’ll have the incredible privilege of watching a dog discover the joy, comfort and security of being part of a loving family for the very first time.
