Perry Wrinkle

Perry Wrinkle

I’m overjoyed to share that Perry Wrinkle has found his perfect match!

Laura and Mike, along with their sweet lab, Sally, drove all the way from Colorado today. The moment they met Perry Wrinkle, it was clear they were meant to be together, and Perry Wrinkle agrees!

Tomorrow, Perry Wrinkle will be heading back to Colorado to enjoy his new life, complete with acres of land to explore and his new playmate, Sally, by his side. While I will miss his adorable smoochie face, my heart is full knowing he’s found his perfect family.

Wishing Perry Wrinkle all the happiness in the world with his new family!

I am not going to lie~ Saturday was a hard day for me. I joined rescue in the middle of the day, and I don’t know if it was the car ride that made me sick or the heat, but I did not feel good at all. I was a mess!

A new friend, Holly, was trying to help me cool off. After drinking a lot of water, I threw it all up. There was water everywhere.

I was able to finally calm down after I was wrapped in a wet towel with my head in Holly’s lap. Holly told me everything was going to be all right and this thing called “rescue” was just what I needed.

I hope so because I am also vision-impaired. I don’t know if it is my cherry eyes, my dry eyes or my neglected eyes, but I might walk right into you.

Back in May, I was wandering around town and some fine folks stopped and picked me up. They were dog lovers and they did their best to find my family. They posted my photo everywhere. They asked everyone if I was their Bulldog.

No one came forward, so I stayed with the family who found me. I loved it there, but the problem was that they already have eight other dogs. And they knew I needed medical attention. It was hard for them to let me go, but they knew it was for the best.

I can hardly wait to see Dr. Larsen. She is going to love me, and she is going to make me feel great again. Better days are ahead for me!

7/5/24 Update:  Perry Wrinkle is quite the character. When Uncle Steve was visiting, Perry loved having a playmate, not to mention all of the face smooshing and petting he “requires.”

Perry Wrinkle is an active dog and loves to play with toys. He would love a four-legged playmate, as the resident Bulldog, alumnus Colt,  is not a willing participant, despite Perry Wrinkle getting in his face and barking.

Perry Wrinkle can get mouthy, but he’s never intending to hurt. Because of his impaired vision, body parts can get in the way when he’s chewing on toys.

We are working on “no bite.” although he would probably benefit with on-going training to get him acclimated.

Perry Wrinkle will soon be going in for his neuter, and Doc will evaluate what his eyes need (besides cherry eye surgery).

Once done, he will be eagerly looking for his next home one with four-legged playmates, but probably not young kids.

Perry Wrinkle is truly a sweet boy with the most adorable face. It can’t be smooshed enough!

7/11/24 Update:  Look at me ~ all savvy about getting up on the couch. I am looking quite innocent after chewing Foster Mom’s remote needless to say, she was MAD!

I do not see well right now, but I do chew well and, if I’m not being watched, I’ll find alternate (non-toys) things to chew: window sills, remotes, rubber boots. Foster Mom is teaching me about appropriate toys and I am trying to learn so I can find the perfect family.

Foster Mom says I have heartworms, hook worms and coccidia right now. That’s why I have lots of medicine to take. I am a good boy about taking them when they are surrounded by treats!

I go in this week for my neuter and cherry eye surgery. Hopefully, that will bring some relief for my eyes.

Foster Mom says one step at a time, but I am impatient as all of these wrinkles need love now. My favorite time is laying next to Foster Mom and getting loving pets.

7/18/24 Update:  Perry Wrinkle is currently recuperating from his neuter and cherry eye surgeries, so he’s giving me the cold shoulder. He’s found solace in his crate, although, to keep him calm, it’s more my safe space than his (ha!). After some coaxing with a treat, he finally glanced my way. The vet advised a 10-day healing period before he faces heartworm treatment next. Despite it all, poor Perry just craves affection!

7/25/24 Update:  Finally, my friends ~ I am out of that horrible satellite dish… er, collar!

Guess it did the trick, as Foster Mom took it off for the whole day and now it’s gone so I can get back to being my crazy self.

She said that I shouldn’t get too comfy. I guess it soon will be time for my heartworm treatment. That means MORE restricted activity and mandatory rest for me. Ugh.

Let this be a lesson to all my friends out there: heartworm prevention is a MUST. Treatment is not easy… or cheap.

8/8/24 Update:  Perry got a new toy on Saturday and loves him. Mr. Monkey keeps him occupied for at least 5 whole minutes, until he needs to find something/someone else to play with.

He is looking for a home with a four-legged playmate who can keep up with him!

He does really well with going potty outside when taken out regularly and is “mostly” cooperative when it is crate time.

8/22/24 Update:  You can clearly see the distress on his beautiful face. I had to deliver the tough news that he needs to return to the vet clinic for heartworm treatment.

As if that wasn’t enough, I also had to explain that he’ll need to rest for 30 days. Given that “rest” isn’t exactly in his vocabulary—he’s a lively young boy who loves to play and snuggle—it should be quite the challenge.

On the bright side, once his treatment is complete, he’ll be all set to find his next home. So, if you’re interested, now’s the perfect time to submit your application.

9/6/24 Update:  I’m still recovering from my heartworm treatment, but making great progress. I’m eagerly looking forward to getting my toys back and, even more importantly, finding my next family.

This past weekend, Foster Mom mentioned it was Labor Day. For me, the extent of my labor involves choosing between lounging fully on the couch or just half on it—so exhausting, right?

You might have heard of “farm to table,” but let me introduce you to “couch to table”—that’s my style!

Even when I try to hide, Foster Mom always finds me and we enjoy cozy snuggles on the couch—my absolute favorite spot. And when I take a break from all the petting, I need to stretch out because no single surface can contain my handsomeness!

Please keep me in mind and get in your applications. I’m on the lookout for a perfect family for me… and playmates!

9/12/24 Update: IJust a quick update to let you all know that I’m counting down the days until I’m free from my heartworm treatment rest—only a little over a week to go! After that, I’ll be ready to play, though Foster Mom did remind me that toilet paper isn’t a toy (oops!).

Today, Foster Mom was having a bit of fun measuring my “mushes per square inch” (or MPSI) because apparently, my wrinkly face scores off the MPSI charts. I’m not quite sure what that means, but as long as Foster Mom keeps showering me with belly rubs and loving on my velvety fur, I’m a happy pup!

Mark your calendars for September 20—my freedom date! I can’t wait to find my next family who’ll scoop me up and give me all the love I’m ready to give back.

9/20/24 Update:  Picture this: Perry was sitting like a true gentleman at the table, patiently waiting for service. But alas, no one came to take his order, and no food arrived. After a while, he ended up sulking on the floor.

The good news? Perry’s “freedom” date from his heartworm treatment is this weekend! He’ll finally be able to enjoy all his toys again after a long month. We’re all really looking forward to it!

Perry hopes to join us at the Grand Prairie Birthday Bash this Saturday and he can’t wait to meet everyone. Come see his adorable face, velvety fur, and charming personality—he’s ready for his forever home!

Just a heads up: Perry would do best in a home without very small children. He’s still young and can get a little nibbly during playtime. Plus he has a tendency to barrel into you when he runs. But just look at that face!

10/4/24 Update:  I’m having a blast with my favorite red chew toy! Foster Mom isn’t as thrilled, though—the squeak is quite loud! But I could happily chew on it for hours.

The only problem is when Foster Mom takes me away from it outside. All I want to do is sit on the grass, patiently waiting for my next family to come and find me.

I’m young and sweet, but I do like to mouth you if you stop petting me. I think a family with older (or no) kids would be the best fit for me.

I love to play, too! If you enjoy playtime or have an active four-legged friend, we’d have so much fun together.

Please hurry Foster Mom won’t let me stay out here for long!

11/8/24 Update:  Perry Wrinkle had a blast at our Pizza Paw-ty yesterday. He loved playing with Tauriel and loved all of the attention. he received from the guests. His favorite part was picking out a toy. Auntie Crossland helped him pick and she was rewarded with his award-worthy smile. He could not wait to get it home and play with it!

11/15/24 Update:  A few weeks ago, Perry Wrinkle had the chance to stay with Auntie Melissa and Uncle Brian for a few days, and he had an absolute blast! He and foster boy Diesel Edward had so much fun playing together, but things got a little too exciting when Perry Wrinkle got his paws on the giggle ball. I had to take it away from him at home because he just runs full-speed into whatever’s in his way when he’s playing with it!

He may look like Popeye with that one eye smirk and muscles, and once he has the ball, there’s no letting go! I had to sneakily hide it just to get him into the car to head home.

The good news? He’s heading back to Auntie Melissa and Uncle Brian’s this week, and he can’t wait!

Everyone who meets Perry Wrinkle falls in love with him—so why is he still in rescue? I honestly can’t figure it out. He’s beyond adorable, sweet and full of personality! Maybe he could be yours? I promise you’ll absolutely love him.

12/6/24 Update:  So close, but yet so far. Poor Perry – everyone loves him but nothing has worked out due to no fault of his own

Perry loves to play and loves to cuddleoften at the same time!Trust me, when that face is smooshed on your shoulder and those big eyes stare in to your soul, you will be lost.

12/13/24 Update:  Perry Wrinkle has been asking why he doesn’t have a family yet ~ and he uses his eyes to cut through me. I think he even wanted to hide his face in the couch. Then he asked me if the table made his butt looked big. I told him no, he was still perfect and some lucky family will scoop him up before he knows it. And until then, I bet Santa will have lots of other presents for him!
