Pig Pen (now Rocky)

Pig Pen (now Rocky)

6/6/26 AWESOME ADOPTION ALERT! From volunteer Dianne: Some adoptions make you smile. Some make you cry.

Pig Pen’s adoption is one of those stories that reminds us what rescue is truly about.

From the moment his foster parents, Jason and Kristen, met Pig Pen, they loved him exactly as he was. They understood that his challenges were real. His heart condition wasn’t something that would simply go away. Congestive heart failure means his time may be shorter than any of us would like.

But that never mattered to them.

The frequent vet visits? No problem. The medications? No problem. The extra monitoring and care? No problem.

Because Pig Pen is worth it.

Today, this sweet boy is doing well. The overwhelming smell of yeast and infection that once followed him is gone. Fur is growing in places where there was none before, and his coat is now soft as velvet. He runs to greet the people he loves, eager for every moment and every adventure.

Most importantly, he is cherished.

Jason and Kristen can’t imagine life without him. They celebrate every good day, treasure every memory, and are grateful for every moment they get to spend together.

Rescue isn’t always about finding the perfect dog. Sometimes it’s about finding the perfect family… one willing to love a dog wholeheartedly, despite the uncertainties, despite the challenges and despite the heartbreak that may someday come.

Pig Pen found that family.

He is loved. He is home.

And these days, he goes by a new name: Rocky.

1/20/26 INTRODUCTION ~ On the very same day Noah Ty was found across town, another Bulldog was picked up by The Colony Animal Services. Pig Pen went straight to the vet. He was so weak he could barely stand on his own. Today, he was discharged from the vet clinic in The Colony and officially joined rescue.

Pig Pen may believe he’s famous, thanks to his growing social following, but the reality is heartbreaking. Weighing in at just 29 pounds, he has virtually no body fat. His skin is so fragile that even gentle contact or bumping into something causes him to bleed. The odor from untreated medical issues is overwhelming. Yet despite everything, Pig Pen begs for affection from anyone he meets. He craves love, attention and human connection.

Today, Pig Pen heads to our vet to continue his treatment and begin the long road to healing. And once again, today our hearts broke. But they also grew, because this boy is finally safe.

Welcome to rescue, Pig Pen. You are not alone anymore.

1/23/26 UPDATE ~ From volunteer Dianne: Today, Pig Pen just wanted to be held. Even with medicated baths every other day, he still looks and feels as uncomfortable as his photos show. His condition is heartbreaking and truly takes your breath away…b but so does his trust and his need for comfort.Pig Pen has a long road ahead, but he is surrounded by care, compassion and people committed to helping him heal.

💙 If you’d like to support Pig Pen on his journey to wellness, donations can be made via dfwbulldogrescue.org/donate. Every contribution helps give him the care he desperately needs.

Thank you for standing with Pig Pen.

3/28/26 UPDATE ~ From the day he was found—too weak to stand, emaciated and in heartbreaking condition—to now, Pig Pen has already come so far. And today, we’re so happy to share that he’s officially out of the hospital and recovering in a loving foster home with his dedicated foster parents.

This next chapter is all about healing. After everything his little body has endured, Pig Pen is finally able to rest comfortably, soak up love and begin rebuilding his strength in a safe, quiet environment.

And true to who he’s always been, Pig Pen is still the same sweet boy who craves affection and connection. Despite everything he’s been through, his gentle spirit shines through, and he continues to remind us just how resilient he is.

He still has a road ahead of him, but he’s no longer facing it alone. With the care of his foster family and the support of everyone cheering him on, Pig Pen is finally getting the second chance he deserves.

Thank you for continuing to follow his journey and for keeping him in your thoughts…. this boy is worth it.
