3/19/26 AWESOME ADOPTION ALERT! From the foster momma: Well, our country crooner, Porter Wagner, decided he was meant to be the one and only superstar in his home.
After much love and consideration, his previous family made the difficult decision to return this handsome boy to rescue so he could find a home where he could truly shine as a solo act. It was an emotional day for everyone involved, but we believe it was the right choice, especially for the resident Bulldog, who is now enjoying a little more peace and quiet.
As it so often happens in rescue, things fell into place at just the right time. An approved adopter was already searching for a star to brighten her home and Porter was ready for his next act.
Just a few weeks later, Shannon made the drive to Fort Worth to meet her new cowboy. It was a perfect match.
Now known as Wesson, he’s settling beautifully into his forever home as the solo star he was always meant to be. He’s surrounded by new toys, plenty of love and even a cozy human bed to call his own.
Wesson is also recovering from nares and palate surgery, an incredible gift from his new mom to help him breathe easier and live his best life.

6/27/2025 AWESOME ADOPTION ALERT! From the foster momma: Country music fans unite! 🎶🐾It’s true—the rumors are out, and the tabloids were right this time. Our beloved country crooner, Porter Wagner, has been adopted!
His new family made the drive all the way from Kansas, bringing along their resident Bulldog, Zeus. At first, Zeus wasn’t quite sure about this new guy—after all, Porter’s a looker, and there was concern he might steal the spotlight (and the treats… and maybe even the best lap).
But as the family spent time visiting with the fosters, Zeus realized there was still plenty of love—and snacks—to go around.
So off Porter went with his new mom and dad, and Zeus proudly called shotgun for the ride back to Kansas.
Keep your ears open—there might just be a new Porter Wagner record dropping soon, featuring a special guest: his brother and backup singer, Zeus! 🎤🐶

From volunteer Kayle: Before we get into how ridiculously handsome this guy is, let’s give a standing ovation to the real MVP of this story—an amazing shelter employee who saw Porter Wagner and knew his medical needs were more than most could handle.
Instead of letting him sit and wait, she picked up the phone and made sure he got the help he needed. Hats off to the shelter workers out there doing the good work every single day. This album goes out to you!
Now, back to our headliner—Porter Wagner, the newest rockstar in our lineup. Any good country star sings about prison, hard times, and getting sprung from the clink, and well… Porter actually lived it. He found himself doing time at the local shelter after being picked up as a stray, but yesterday morning, he got his get-out-of-jail-free card and is ready to turn his life around.
Porter Wagner is pure class—he rides like a pro, takes treats like a true Southern gentleman, and has mastered the art of the soulful stare. But like all great country legends, he’s got a few battle scars—his skin, eyes, and breathing need some serious TLC, and pretty soon, he’ll be saying goodbye to his honky-tonk ways (yep, the snip is coming).
We’ll get him stage-ready for adoption soon, but until then, send this boy some love! Stay tuned—Porter Wagner’s greatest hits are yet to come!
