Reba Mayberry

Reba Mayberry

Today, Miss Reba Mayberry drove off to Missouri City, Texas, with her new family.

Her new fur brother, Frankie, and she cavorted for two hours during their visit and enjoyed each other’s companionship. They even relished Bulldog Happy Hour together.

The new parents have two college students in Alabama who will have a furry, breathing, and devoted Christmas present when they return home for holiday break.

Meg and my hearts leapt with joy tinged with sorrow as Miss Reba Mayberry departed. We showed her new parents how to seat belt her in the car for safety. Neither we, nor adoptive parents shed any tears, but all of our eyeballs moistened with sweat.

We heard Miss Reba Mayberry’s thoughts upon departure….

Away I drove off with a piece of your heart

As my adoptive family gave me a new start

But I heard you exclaim, with a tear in your eye

Fare thee well dear Bulldog, but never goodbye

I’ve had a rough time lately, and it feels like I’ve faced more than my fair share of bad luck.

First, I lost my mom. I was her everything and she meant everything to me. After that, my dad lost our home, and I found myself living in a garage with no air conditioning. I thought I was going to die. It was incredibly hot and miserable—I could barely breathe.

When things seemed like they couldn’t get worse, my dad reached out to rescue for help. It was a bittersweet moment; he was heartbroken to see me go, but he knew it was the best choice for both of us.

He packed my belongings in two brown boxes and sent me off with love. He hugged me and told me he never thought that our lives would end up this way. But bad things sometimes happen to good people, and leaving was really my only choice.

I just turned 3 on June 4, and I can’t wait to start this new chapter. I do have some health issues to sort out—my ears are swollen shut and leaking, and I need to be spayed. Plus, one of my eyes hurt. But I’m looking forward to meeting Dr. Larsen, who will help make me feel better!

If you’re looking for a sweet and adorable Bulldog, watch my rescue journey. I can’t wait to become a more perfect Bulldog and find a family who will adore me.

12/6/24 Update:  My auntie Rebecca escorted me to Chez Maison Ménard BBnB.

En route, she told me that I would be loved, spoiled, fed gourmet meals, and treated like royalty. I was dubious, fearful, and worried. Auntie also told me that I would meet a new friend and roommate.  Excitement overshadowed misgivings as I prepared for an uncertain future.

I had a few oopsies the first night. In the morning, my new peeps let me explore the house. I sniffed my new roommate and her toybox. Then, I sniffed out the food bucket.

At the moment, I revel in a pampering spa visit. All this in about half a day’s time.  Whew! I will take a few days to soak in all my new life of good fortune.

My peeps say that I hold all the promise of a keeper. Do you want to be my keeper?
