8/8/26 AWESOME ADOPTION ALERT! From Sandwich: After a few weeks of letting my personality come out of my shell, I think I finally showed everyone just how special I am.
And guess what? The Nichols saw my pictures and decided I was their girl! They hopped in the car and came to scoop me up and I am officially headed to my new home!
I have to admit, I’m pretty excited about this whole forever-family thing. I hear there will be lots of love, attention, treats and probably some very important couch time. And if you know me, you know I am ALL about the relaxing life.
I also heard something about a WAGON for walks! Excuse me… WHAT?! A wagon? So you’re telling me I can go on adventures, enjoy all the smells and scenery and let someone else do the walking? I believe I have found my people!
I’m headed all the way to Oklahoma and I am ready for my next big adventure. I don’t know exactly what life is going to look like yet, but I do know one thing… I am going to be very loved.
I want to say a very special thank you to my foster mom and to everyone who followed my story, cheered me on, shared my updates and hoped that my next family was out there…
YOU WERE RIGHT!
My family found me and now I’m off to live the cozy, spoiled, loved life I’ve been waiting for.
So Oklahoma… here I come!
Wish me luck on my new adventure! And don’t worry… I plan on keeping everyone updated on this whole wagon situation.
With lots of love, tail wags and treatos,
One very happy little Sandwich

6/20/26 INTRODUCTION ~ Please welcome Sandwich to our rescue family. She writes: A few days ago my best friend Georgie Boy and I hopped into the rescue wagon, left everything we’d ever known behind and joined rescue.
We were excited.
Over the years, lots of Bulldogs have come through rescue after retiring from their careers as baby mamas. Me? I only had one litter and decided motherhood wasn’t really my thing. I was a good mama, but I was definitely one-and-done.
My breeder mom was retiring from breeding Bulldogs, and Georgie Boy and I were the last two to make the journey into rescue.
I’m 2 years old and weigh 43 pounds. I’m a little shy, and right now I’m learning something completely new: walking on a leash.
To be honest, I don’t really understand the leash. My foster mama goes one way, and I go the other. Sometimes our walks look more like a tug-of-war than a stroll through the neighborhood. Every now and then I simply decide I’ve had enough, and my foster mama ends up carrying me home. She just laughs, tells me I’m doing my best and promises that one day I’ll figure it out.
Wednesday was a big day. I was spayed and got all of my vaccinations. Unfortunately, things got a little scary.
During my procedure, I got sick and threw up an entire shop towel. Yes, an entire shop towel. Apparently eating towels is not considered a healthy hobby.
The veterinary team moved quickly to make sure I was okay, and while I was pretty scared, they took excellent care of me.
When I got back to my foster home, I didn’t want to eat. Everything hurt and I just wanted to rest. By Thursday I was starting to feel a little better, and by Friday I finally ate my first meal.
The vet checked on me every single day. I’ve never had so many people worried about me before.
What have I learned from all of this?
I love attention.
I love food.
My foster mama is pretty great.
And eating towels is a terrible idea.
Love,
Sandwich ❤️
P.S. My rescue friends asked me to share a couple of things.
They really need more foster families in the DFW area. Every time a foster home opens up, another Bulldog gets a chance at a better life. That includes Bulldogs like me and Georgie Boy, but also Bulldogs sitting in shelters waiting and hoping someone will come for them. If you’ve ever thought about fostering, now would be a great time to learn more.
7/6/26 UPDATE ~ From foster girl Sandwich: Life is pretty great these days! I’ve been settling into my foster home and learning something new every day. Right now, I’m working on my leash manners, and if I do say so myself, I’m making great progress! One step at a time, my confidence keeps growing.
I’ve also made an important discovery… I was absolutely meant for the good life! Give me a cozy bed, yummy treats, delicious meals, plenty of naps and lots of love, and I’m one happy girl. I don’t need big adventures or busy outings to be content. My favorite place is wherever my people are. I’m happiest relaxing nearby, soaking up ear scratches, belly rubs and all the affection you can spare. That’s my idea of the perfect day.
I still get a little nervous around loud noises, and sometimes they make me jump. But my foster mom says I’m getting braver every day. I’m learning that not every unfamiliar sound is something to worry about, and with kind, patient people by my side, I’m becoming more confident all the time.
One thing you won’t have to worry about is me getting into mischief. I’m not much of a snooper, and I have no interest in rummaging through your things. Most of the time, you’ll find me happily relaxing in my room or curled up in my kennel. It’s my cozy little safe space, and I love having a quiet place to unwind and recharge.
I’m a gentle, laid-back companion who appreciates life’s simple pleasures. I’ll happily join you for a car ride, keep you company while you read or watch TV and remind you every day that the best moments are often the quiet ones spent together.
I promise to fill my future home with sweet cuddles, grateful kisses and a whole lot of love.
Love, tail wags and puppy kisses,
Sandwich
7/18/26 UPDATE ~ From foster girl Sandwich: I thought I’d pop in and give everyone a little update on how I’m doing!
First things first… I’ve officially decided that treats are one of my favorite things ever! A yummy snack, a good bone to chew on or a soft, squishy toy? That’s the recipe for a pretty great day if you ask me.
I’m a super chill girl. I don’t need big adventures or constant excitement. I’m happiest just moseying around the house, relaxing near my people and enjoying the simple things in life. If you’re a fan of cozy evenings on the couch, we’d make the perfect team.
I’m doing great with my potty manners and know that my business belongs outside. I’ve also become quite attached to my safe place: my kennel. It’s my cozy little retreat where I can relax and recharge. I’m slowly getting used to all the everyday noises around the house. They’re still not my favorite, but every day I become a little more confident.
I get along well with other dogs, but when I’m hanging out in my kennel, I’d really prefer they let me have my own space. A girl deserves a little peace and quiet in her bedroom, right? Outside of that, I’m happy to share life with my furry friends.
Kids? No problem. Cats? They’re okay, too! I’m a pretty well-rounded girl who’s learning that life is full of love, comfort, and kind people.
Thank you for cheering me on and following my journey. Your love and support mean the world to me, and I’ll be sure to keep you posted as I take the next steps toward my happily ever after.
