Shiloh Rose

Shiloh Rose

On Wednesday, Foster Mom took me to go see Doc Larsen. While I sat on her lap, she told me how good I looked (although she said I had to lose a couple pounds?! What?) and that I was all cleared to travel. Travel?! What’s that?

The next day during bath time, Foster Mom told me how much she loved me and that I was going on an adventure to meet my very own family. She told me that she would always love me and was so proud of me for everything I had overcome. She said my new parents had a brother for me and had adopted three other Bulldogs from Lone Star Bulldog Club Rescue before me!

A few hours later, we loaded up in the truck with a bag packed full of my stuff (and me in my cute new harness and leash!) and met up with Jennifer, who had a crate filled with a big fluffy bed.

After I jumped into the crate with a brand new bone, Foster Mom cried and told me she loved me and kissed me goodbye. She promised me that Jennifer would get me safely to my new family. I was so sad to leave my foster family, but I was so excited to start my forever after. And that’s when my adventure began!

We first stayed in a place called Abilene,  with some really nice people! I wasn’t scared because Jennifer was with me so I just enjoyed the attention and went with the flow.

On Friday, we drove to Amarillo, where I finally got to meet my new mom, Margaret…. and let me tell you, she is AMAZING!

The first thing she did was pick me up and gave me a squeeze, which made me feel like we had known each other forever.

Together, we drove to Colorado Springs, where I met some new fur friends with long noses. They were so much fun to play with! While we were there, I also got to know my new mom better. I think we are a perfect match!

Today (Saturday), we finally made it to my new home in Grand Junction, Colorado! I just got to meet my new dad, Tony, and brother, Gunny. Dad picked me up right away and loved on me!

I’m so excited for my forever after. Thank you to everyone who has loved me, helped me and prayed for me to get to this point!

Love to you all in Lone Star Bulldog Club Rescue land,

Shiloh Rose

In Hebrew, Shiloh means “gift from God” and when I look at her, I tell myself she was never anyone’s gift.

Starving and covered in demodex to the point her feet bleed, but as sweet as can be, Shiloh is finally safe.

Weighing 25 lbs and probably a year old,  not only is she just a baby, she looks to have already had babies.

I have to believe the day when she was picked up as a stray and taken to the local animal shelter was the happiest day of her life.

Not only was she safe, she would finally be warm and able to have something to eat.

Shiloh is the reason we rescue. She never deserved to live this life. She was born a beautiful Bulldog baby and today, she is 25 lbs underweight.

She smells like something dead, and she scratches and spins in a circle until she tips over.

Shiloh’s skin hangs over her bones and I can count every rib. She has suffered so much in the hands of the people who were supposed to take care of her.

“Where is the justice?” Shiloh asks. And “Why did someone not care for me?”

If someone allowed this to happy and did nothing, they are just as guilty as the one doing the harm.

For all the other Shilohs out there, we will come for you too.

1/4/23 Update:  Shiloh’s biggest challenge is food. She would eat until she popped. I have done lots of small meals and I have done three meals a day, yet she is never satisfied. She constantly searches for food. She cleans up everything anyone misses. She has been starved for so long food is her obsession.

But she is also the sweetest Bulldog ever. To see her is to love her. She loves everyone and everything. There’s not a mean bone in her body.

Her skin is still a hot mess, but she will stand for a bath like a statue and never move. I have washed layers and layers of filth and debris off, yet it feels like you’re touching rubber when you pet her. I ask her every day just how much yeast she has because I still smell her.

I hope we can have an event soon so everyone can meet her. To meet her is to love her and she is the reason we rescue.

1/10/23 Update:  Shiloh Rose enjoyed meeting Miss Sheila this week and playing with her at her fantastic photography studio!

Shiloh is overall calm and curious and has spent the week figuring out the routine of her new foster home. We are working on having her experience new things and sounds and she has been a trooper!

She loves attention and laying like a baby in her foster mom’s lap. She’s also been enjoying her regular spa treatments.

1/19/23 Update:  Shiloh Rose is doing great! She has put on some much-needed weight and is working on potty training. Shiloh is finally learning to be a puppy and has started playing selectively with toys and her foster siblings! She loves to be snuggled and doted on. Her skin is starting to feel softer and overall, you can tell she feels better and is more active!

1/25/23 Update:  Foster Mom and I had a big puppy party this week because I peed in the grass instead of the concrete! I’ve also put on 10+ pounds since I came into rescue! Dinner time is my favorite time of the day and I start barking and spinning to encourage Foster Mom to move faster preparing my meal. My other favorite time is when I get my spa treatments. That’s when Foster Mom tells me what a good girl I am and what a love I am.

2/3/23 Update:  The weather has just been yucky and Foster Mom says we still have to go out every three hours so I don’t have a potty accident! She says it’s potty training. I think it’s potty torture! I didn’t even get my spa days because she said it’s too cold! This week, I get to meet the famous Dr Larsen and her staff. I can’t wait!!

2/10/23 Update:  Shiloh Rose had an amazing week! She got to sit on Dr Larsen’s lap, give her kisses and hear how fabulous she looks! She currently weighs 41 pounds. She was 25 pounds when she joined Lone Star Bulldog Club Rescue! Shiloh also started initiating play with her foster siblings and found and enjoyed her first chew toy. This girl is on fire! Only good things to come.

2/21/23 Update:  Shiloh Rose continues to do well in her foster home. She has been doing great with her potty training and enjoys playing with her foster siblings. She is looking for a home that will continue her twice weekly baths and medications. They, in turn, will enjoy her puppy antics and milestones as a reward! She is such a sweet, sweet girl who just wants to crawl into your lap and be loved.

3/3/23 Update:  Shiloh Rose had a great time at the Bulldog Bonanza! She met lots of families and enjoyed lots of time getting belly rubs.

Shiloh is still on twice-a-week bathing and a variety of supplements and treatments to help heal her neglected and damaged skin. She’s had a lot of hair come in and we’re hoping for more!

Shiloh loves to play with other dogs and has enjoyed having foster boy Petey living with us- they play all the time together! Shiloh is still working on potty training, but is doing great in her crate! This girl has been through so much and is such a trooper, always full of curiosity and joy.

3/10/23 Update:  Shiloh Rose continues to do well in her foster home. She loves laying in her foster mom’s lap for nightly lovings and playing with her foster siblings. Her favorite time of day is breakfast and dinner when she jumps and spins around barking! She also enjoys constant cookies throughout the day to reward her for her good behavior and no potty accidents! She also enjoys being a farm dog and visiting with all the animals.

4/4/23 Update:  Shiloh (aka Tubby) continues to do well at her foster home! She loves playing with all the dogs in the house and is doing great on her potty training. Shiloh has put on about 25 pounds since being in rescue, and boy, does she love to eat! She is looking for an amazing forever family who can continue her baths, supplements and treatments. And one she can give lots of kisses!

4/21/23 Update:  Shiloh continues to do great at her foster home and wiggle her way into everyone’s hearts! She just wanted to check in to let you know she’s going through applications looking for her perfect home! ❤️ PS Look at all that belly hair coming in!!
