6/8/25 AWESOME ADOPTION ALERT! From the foster momma: Shirley Roxie wasn’t just any Bulldog — she was one of the softest, most loving souls we’ve ever known. She quickly rose to Queen of the House in her foster home… and now, she’s ruling her very own kingdom.
On Friday, Dean and Lisa made the long trip from the Houston area to meet their girl — now known as Mabel (a name that means lovable and beloved, which she most certainly is). From the moment she walked up to her new pawrents, it was love at first sight. The smooches started immediately, followed by plenty of hugs and happy tail wags.
When it was time to go, Mabel graciously accepted one last round of kisses from her foster mom, then proudly trotted off to the car — ready for her next chapter and her very own “happily ever after.”
At last check-in, Mabel is settling in beautifully and already claiming the cool tile floors of her new palace.

INTRODUCTION: Sweet Shirley Roxie found herself in a tough spot when she landed in the local shelter—and her family never came to pick her up. She waited. And waited. And waited some more. They knew where she was, but no one came… and that might have broke her little Bulldog heart.
Despite it all, Shirley Roxie quickly became a favorite at the shelter. With her big personality and charm, she was given the role of official greeter. At first, she took the job seriously—welcoming visitors with tail wags and wiggles. But Shirley Roxie, ever the diva, soon decided she’d only roll out the red carpet for some of the dogs. If she didn’t like the vibe? Well… let’s just say the barking began, the drama kicked in, and more than a few “conversations” were had through the kennel doors.
So, Shirley Roxie’s career as greeter came to a swift end—but not her shot at a new beginning.
Shirley Roxie is just 3 years old, full of life, and cute as a button. She still needs to be spayed and could use a little help learning how to be polite around other dogs. But if you’re looking for a fun, affectionate, one-dog-only kind of household? Shirley Roxie is your girl.
