Shirley Temple

Shirley Temple

Shirley Temple moved to Arkansas with her furever parents, Katy and Bryan. She settled right in and is loving her new home and family!

Today, I left the shelter and joined rescue.

I sure was surprised when I got lost after taking a stroll around my neighborhood. After a while, all the houses looked the same, yet none of them looked like my house.

I was really happy when animal control came and picked me up because It sure was getting hot outside.

It was great at the shelter ~ I was almost famous. Everyone loved me! I kept wondering how long it was going to take  until my family came looking for me, but strange as it sounds, it seems no one even missed me.

I wanted to stay with my new found friends at the shelter because they were so good to me, but this morning, they told me my stay was over. They needed my space for another dog in need. So, I packed my bags, hopped in the rescue wagon and joined rescue.

Oh, it’s a sweet deal here too. I have already finished a meal, had a bag of treats and have taken some walks around the garden center. I walk great on a leash and I’m learning to sit for a treat and stay still for a picture.

I’ll be heading to see Dr. Larsen on Monday and she is going to giggle when she sees me. She thinks she’s getting a “Shirley Temple” drink tomorrow. Instead, she’s getting me!

7/9/22 Update:  We have had a good first week and Shirley is settling into the routine here. She is sweet girl with a cute disposition.

She is tolerating Daisy, our Bulldog. They don’t love each other, but they are polite to each other… MOST of the time.

Shirley loves to be loved on and will take a belly rub any time.

She took a hunger strike for a day, but is eating well now. With this heat, it’s hard to get exercise but Shirley found a way to cool off in the sprinklers.

7/19/22 Update:  Shirley didn’t make it to the event this weekend, but it sounds like it was a fun time for all.

She was on a walk and got a little overwhelmed with a lot of children and activity Friday evening. After that, she had a little tummy trouble and reverted back to hiding under things.

She is recovering and getting back to her more relaxed self. We will be careful with our activities – we want to make she’s always comfortable.

7/25/22 Update:  Shirley is a sweet girl and we are enjoying her company.  She loves to be loved all the time and follows you wherever you go (velcro dog).  She is still loving the sprinklers and playing fetch with the ball when we get outside.

8/3/22 Update:  Shirley is doing well and still loves the sprinklers and chasing the ball. She continues to eat and sleep well, as well as go potty where she should. Shirley is my little shadow and a very pleasant house quest. We haven’t left her alone much, but when we have, she does bark some (we watched and listened on the security camera).
