Smooch

Smooch

It was love at first sight when Smooch met his new family. He now has two other fur siblings and amazing new parents. He couldn’t be happier. He’s already adjusting to being their new navigator!

The shelter named me Smooch because the ladies there just wanted to kiss my face all day!

That’s right ~ I was out for my daily stroll around town when a woman picked me up and saved me from the streets. She told me I had no business walking down the middle of a busy road. She took me to the shelter so I would be safe.

Wow, did I have a lot of friends there! Every day, they said I’d likely leave soon and that my family probably was really missing me. I even hung around the shelter longer than the other dogs, just in case my family came looking for me. But, no one came and there I sat.

Finally, I decided it was time to go and when the rescue wagon rounded the corner, I was the first one out the door.  No sense hanging around when I could be out and about looking for a family who will make sure I stay safe forever.

I am a little thin now and I do plan on gaining some weight. I need a surgery to help me loose that loving feeling and then I will be ready to move on and let the next family smooch my face.

5/2/23 Update:  Just want to take a moment to appreciate this beautiful boy. We’ve had Smooch in our house for the past week. We’re all getting to know each other still, but we have learned a few things.

First off, Smooch is still very much full of puppy energy. He is all play, all day.

Second, he is SUPER smart. We’re working on manners still, but he walks on a leash fairly well. He’s learning to not jump on people. He has learned that “cookies” means come quickly, and “sit” will get rewarded with treats.

He plays well with his foster fur siblings. And the few kids he has been around, he has been good with, although he may knock smaller children down with his enthusiasm.

5/12/23 Update:  We have really enjoyed getting to know Smooch these last few weeks. He is super smart, super playful and super helpful.

First, he helped us with our landscaping project because the team can’t come out to finish the job for a few weeks.

Then we accidentally spilled some food while refilling the bin. He was quick to volunteer on the cleanup crew.
