Spike Buzzcut

12/16/25 AWESOME ADOPTION ALERT! From the foster momma: Several weeks ago, Kathy and I spoke about Spike Buzzcut, and from that very first conversation, she was completely smitten. At the time, Spike Buzzcut was scheduled to have his tail amputated, and Kathy didn’t hesitate. She wanted to wait for him.

From then on, we stayed in close contact. Kathy checked in often, asking how Spike Buzzcut was doing, and I shared photos and videos along the way. She was incredibly involved before, during, and after his surgery, checking on him almost daily and cheering him on through recovery.

Spike Buzzcut healed beautifully, and after two weeks, he was officially ready for adoption. The timing couldn’t have been better. The weather cooperated, and Kathy made the drive from Illinois. This past Saturday, Spike Buzzcut met Kathy in person, and the rest is history.

Kathy was over the moon and already so in love, and it was clear Spike Buzzcut knew he had found his home. He now has two skin brothers to roughhouse with and even gets to go to work with his mom. Spike Buzzcut truly hit the jackpot.

10/30/25 INTRODUCTION ~ Please welcome Spike Buzzcut to our rescue family! From volunteer Sonia: Happy 5th birthday, Spike Buzzcut! 🎉That’s right — Spike Buzzcut joined rescue just yesterday, right in time to celebrate his big day surrounded by new friends!

Spike Buzzcut had a loving family who cared for him deeply over the past five years. But like so many families, they grow and life gets busier, things change, and sadly, Spike Buzzcut found himself pushed to the sidelines.

When the rescue wagon rolled up, Spike Buzzcut greeted his new friend with barks and bluffs, showing off his protective side! It didn’t take him long to realize this lady is his new friend. Though nervous, he bravely stepped out of his home and hopped into his new ride.

He was unsure at first… trembling a little, wondering where he was headed. But before long, his tail started wagging, and he began to understand he was safe. When he arrived at his temporary home, Spike Buzzcut didn’t want to leave the car right away. It took a little gentle reassurance for him to realize he was going to be okay. After a few hours in his temporary home, he rolled over onto his new friend’s feet, asking for love and belly rubs.

Welcome to rescue life, Spike Buzzcut. We’re so proud of your courage, and we can’t wait to see your happy tail wagging in your next home.
