8/8/26 AWESOME ADOPTION ALERT! When Sushi came into rescue, we knew he had been through far too much. For years, this 80-pound gentle giant spent his days confined to a small crate, waiting. Even when people were home, he was still inside.
And yet, Sushi remained one of the sweetest Bulldogs we had ever met. All he wanted was to be close to someone, feel a gentle hand and finally have the chance to simply be a dog.
Then Sushi moved in with Katy, Brad, Ben and Jack.
It was only supposed to be for a few days, just until another foster home could be found.
But sometimes, the perfect family doesn’t need to be found. Sometimes, they find you.
Katy and Brad had talked about adopting a Bulldog, but with two kids, they were hoping for a younger dog. Then Sushi arrived, stole everyone’s hearts, and never left.
Now, instead of spending his days waiting in a crate, Sushi spends them exactly where he wants to be: with his family. He follows them everywhere at his own leisurely pace, enjoys treats and naps and soaks up every bit of love and attention he can get.
Katy calls him the sweetest, most gentle Bulldog in the universe, and she can’t imagine life without him.
This is what we hoped for when Sushi came into rescue.. not just a safe place, but a real life. A family. A home. A place where he could be loved and included in all the little moments that make a family a family.
And that’s exactly what he found.
Sushi waited a long time for his happily ever after. And it was worth the wait.
Welcome home, Sushi. You are exactly where you belong!

5/2/26 INTRODUCTION ~ Please welcome Sushi to our rescue family!
Once upon a time, about six years ago, Sushi had a family who loved him. But somewhere along the way, things changed. We don’t know exactly when or why, but Sushi began spending his days confined to a small crate, 24/7. Even when people were home, he stayed inside… waiting.
And the heartbreaking part? Sushi is one of the sweetest Bulldogs you’ll ever meet.
Thankfully, a caring family recognized that he deserved more… a life where he could stretch his legs, feel the sun and simply be a dog. They stepped in, made arrangements to get him out and reached out to rescue.
Sushi can walk, though slowly, and he has a slight limp. At 80 pounds, he’s a solid boy, but all he really wants is to be close to his people. His favorite place in the world is right beside someone, soaking up every bit of love and touch he can get.
Sushi is finally getting his second chance, but there are so many more dogs just like him still waiting. If you live in the Dallas/Fort Worth area and have ever considered fostering, now is the time. Opening your home, even temporarily, can change a life forever. Message us to learn how you can help be the bridge to a better future.
