Uno Franklin

We have been hanging out at our foster home for about seven months. Foster Mom kept telling us that she would find the perfect home for us ~ one where we could stay together, have lots of tug-o-war toys, yummy treats, and most of all, all the scratches and lovin’!

We’ve heard her on the phone with potential families and always got really excited that it might be happening, but it never did.

Then yesterday, our foster family got back from a trip and we were so happy to see them! After lots of scratches and some wrestling, they said they had some news. They said they had a long talk while they were away. They said that they loved us and they really didn’t think anyone else deserved us. So guess what? We get to stay furever! We were home all this time, after all!

I had to hustle to join rescue because I wanted to make sure I was in a foster home on New Year’s Eve. I want to watch the ball drop in New York City! I packed light, but I remembered my dog food, my crate and some treats.

In my home, I did nothing wrong. I was just about perfect. But, because of financial reasons, my family said I needed a new family ~ one who would love a beautiful fella just like they had loved me for two years.

My fur feels like silk and I don’t mean to brag, but I am super strong. I might need a little help learning to walk, not run, when I am taking my daily walk. But hey, I am young and super smart, so learning new things is a piece of cake for me. Oh, I love cake too! I just had a piece to celebrate my 2nd birthday.

Next week, you will see my sitting in Dr. Larsen’s lap. She loves a beautiful brindle and that would be ME!

1/17/23 Update:  I’ve been in my foster home for a couple of weeks now. I settled in pretty quickly. It turns out that they have some of the things that I love best…chew toys, soft beds, a fur brother to play with, and humans who give me lots of scratches.

I’ve been on my best behavior. I haven’t had any accidents in the house and I happily sleep in my crate. In fact, sometimes I’m so tired that I put myself to bed!

I love my chew toys a lot. Sometimes my fur brother tries to take them, but I usually win that battle. Foster Mom says I sound mean when we are playing, but it’s just my manly voice. Foster boy Big Ben and I are best friends!

We haven’t been able to see Dr. Larsen yet, but next week, should be my turn. Then I’ll be ready to start looking through the approved applications. I hope you’ve already applied!

4/7/23 Update:  I had such a good time at the Bulldog Bonanza! I got to meet so many new dogs and people. And guess what? I loved them all! Sometimes it was hard for me to focus because I didn’t want to miss anyone. After all of the lovin’ I got there, I hope my furever family is busy filling out their application!

In the meantime, I’ll be hangin’ with my buddy, Big Ben. We love the sunshine!!

6/1/23 Update:  This isn’t exactly how I wanted my summer to start. I got a little scratch on my face. No idea how that happened. When it started to heal, it got itchy. Well, you know what you gotta do when you have an itch! Yep, I scratched it and foster mom said I made a bloody mess. I think she was overreacting a bit, but here I am in this cone. I give her dirty looks, but still enjoy hanging out with my people. She says it will only be a week or so until I regain my freedom. Is anyone out there looking for a fun, easygoing guy? I really would like to find a place to call my furever!

6/13/23 Update:  Big Ben and I love coffee time with Foster Mom! It might be one of our favorite times of the day. We get to curl up on the couch, gets pets and snuggle with foster mom, all while she drinks her coffee.

Most mornings, Foster Dad comes out and gives us the best scratches. He even lets us lick his ears a little. Foster Mom says that’s a hard no!

Then, when the coffee is all gone, it’s breakfast time. This is definitely one of our favorite times of the day!

Is your coffee time lonely or boring? Would you like a cuddle or ear cleaning? How are your scratching skills? We would love to find a permanent place for our coffee time.

7/7/23 Update:  Big Ben and Uno Franklin checking in from the patio swing. Yep, we get up here all by ourselves and you should see the swing fly backwards when we jump off! Foster mom says the swing is for relaxing, but we say it’s for wrestling!
