Sometimes, finding the perfect family for our dogs can take some time. We fully understand there are not many people willing to adopt a senior because we all want as much time as possible with our loving dogs. But finding a family willing to adopt TWO seniors, together? Challenge accepted!
In comes an application from Paul and Cara, all the way from Massachusetts, and they are in the process of moving to Arizona.
This amazing family asked specifically about Lola Jean and William Knox (AKA Bill). Everyone in rescue was so excited. All the stars were perfectly aligned for this adoption to happen.
Lola Jean and Bill knew for weeks that something exciting was about to happen, and when their new family arrived, it was like they couldn’t hold in their excitement any longer.
When Lola Jean and Bill saw their parents, they immediately knew who they were. It was the perfect match for everyone! These two will be the only dogs in their new home, and will soon welcome a new skin brother.
They have a long road trip ahead to their new home in Arizona, but they love car rides and this gives them a perfect opportunity to bond closely with their new family.
After 465 days in rescue, it’s finally official… Lola Jean and William Knox are adopted!
Bulldog family I was really surprised when my family loaded me and my friend up and dropped us off at the local shelter. After all, we have always been super sweet and got along really well with each other. What we thought was a road trip in the family car ended up as the last trip in the family car.
My friends name is Lola Jean, and she might even be my sister. All I know is Dr. Larsen said we appear to be the same size and the same age. So sister, best friend, or whatever we are, after we receive some much needed medical help we will be looking for a family that loves us forever. More about us later, right now it is lunch time.
4/21/23 Update: William Knox is doing great in his foster home now that he lost that loving feeling…. he gets along better with the girls. He came to rescue with his sister, Lola Jean, but they’re not a bonded pair. They can be adopted together or separate. They’ll be happy either way.
William Knox loves to be around people. In fact, he cries when he can’t see them. He’s just a sweet boy who loves attention.
5/2/23 Update: William Knox is just the best boy. He’s a great snuggler and just wants to be around people. He’d make a great addition to most any home.
5/12/23 Update: While he was under anesthesia today, the vet staff neutered him, as well as clipped and scrubbed all the bite wounds covering his body. They removed the dead skin from his neck and cleaned the area (we’ll spare you the pics… ugh). That region will be left open to allow for ongoing hydrotherapy and cleaning over the next week. Then, the staff will reevaluate the area and, depending on the wound’s response, may possibly close it.
5/18/23 Update: William Knox is the perfect gentleman. He’s a great snuggler and has found his favorite bed in the house. He seems to be hard of hearing, but that doesn’t bother him. His perfect family would be someone who is OK with an older/slower gentleman who loves to relax. He gets along great with others and he’s happy just about anywhere.
5/30/23 Update: William Knox gets along great with all dogs. He even made a new friend this week- Beverly Pancakes.
8/22/23 Update: Known for his sweet and gentle nature, foster boy William Knox is a true couch potato who finds joy in snuggling up with his favorite humans.
Not only does he love the company of people, but he also gets along famously with other dogs, making him a beloved member of his canine community.
With a face that shows traces of a life well-lived, William Knox is not only a lovable companion, but an embodiment of strength and resilience.
Don’t you need this boy on your couch? He’s ready for adoption and would love to kick back and enjoy a few cold ones with you.
9/5/23 Update: William Knox is just the sweetest boy! He gets along with other dogs and loves to relax with his people. His perfect family will be laid-back and affectionate. He doesn’t ask for much… just a comfortable bed. He’d love to live out his retirement years with you!
9/21/23 Update: William Knox is ready to be adopted!
He is a sweet boy who just wants to be with his people and eat. You can’t have a snack around him without him asking for some. He’s a “talker” too. He lets you know when it is breakfast and dinner time.
He does a great job of pottying outside and gets along great with other dogs. He has skin allergies, so he takes some meds. Other than that, he’s in perfect health.
He is looking for a family who is laid-back and loves being around him. Could that be you?
9/27/23 Update: From his foster momma: We recently changed William’s food to raw and his allergies are getting better. He still takes allergy meds, but we can tell, he’s a lot more comfortable
10/5/23 Update: William Knox (right) loves to hang out with his sister, Lola Jean. They get along great and would do well if adopted together or separately. They just want homes to call their very own.
10/10 23 Update: William Knox is ready for adoption! While he waits to be matched to a great family for him, he’s taking in all the sights, sounds and cooler temps of pumpkin season.
1/11/24 Update: William Knox is a sweet and loving guy. He just wants to be with his people and/or snuggle in his bed. He gets along great with other dogs, especially his sister, Lola Jean.
He gets excited at meal times and lets you know if you’re late getting his meal prepped.
He has some skin allergies, but other than that, he is a pretty healthy guy. His ideal home would be loving and laid-back. He doesn’t ask for much!
1/15/24 Update: William Knox is never crated because he’s so good, he has free reign of the house. That’s why we found it hilarious that he jumped in the resident Mastiff’s crate to relax. He did like the big, fluffy bed.
1/25/24 Update: William Knox (left) kept warm this week by snuggling with his sister, Lola Jean, by the fire. They are a great duo and would do really well if adopted together.
2/29/24 Update: William Knox is such a friendly guy who gets along with everyone. He’s a great snuggler and loves to sleep in our bed.
He is also a talker and can be impatient. He will certainly let you know if he’s hungry, if you’re taking too long to prepare his meals, if he needs to go outside but doesn’t want to get up, or if another dog is in a spot where he wants to lay down for a nap.
4/24/24 Update: William Knox is such a ladies’ man. He’s the only boy in the house and he loves to snuggle with the ladies, even if they do sit on him. LOL!
5/1/24 Update: William Knox was under the weather this week with pneumonia, so he did a lot of snuggling with his foster sisters. Thankfully, with antibiotics, fluids and lots of rest and love, he rallied and was feeling well enough to attend the Bulldog Bonanza at BAR 2909 yesterday. He had a blast! Just look at his smile!
5/30/24 Update: William Knox has the most beautiful brown eyes ~ you can just get lost in them. This brown-eyed boy is still looking for his next family. His perfect home would have his bed (which he will come with), some snacks and lots of love. He does not ask for much.
