11/16/25 AWESOME ADOPTION ALERT times two! From the foster pops: Today, Miss Andromeda and Miss Turnip the Beet packed their toys, transition food, treats and a few chunks of our hearts into a Chevy truck and headed out for their two-day journey to Aurora, CO.
Their new mom, Coco, and their skin brother, Aloysius, welcomed them with open arms, alongside their new fur brother, Forrest.
The adoptive crew spent time together last night and this morning, getting everyone settled and building the trust and connection needed for a bright future. Watching the love grow between the two families embodied everything Lone Star Bulldog Club Rescue stands for: community, compassion and giving Bulldogs the lives they deserve.
While today marks Meg’s and my second “goodbye” of two Bulldogs headed to Colorado in the past three months (four total!), it also opens the door for us to welcome more deserving Bulldogs into Chez Maison Ménard BBnB. Bulldog withdrawal, as we all know, can be a serious condition for bipeds.
As the truck pulled away, we imagined what Andromeda and Turnip the Beet might have been thinking:
Away we drove off with pieces of your hearts,
And our adoptive family gave us a brand-new start.
But I heard you exclaim, with tears in your eyes,
Fare thee well, dear Bullies—but never goodbye.
I never cry at the goodbye kiss, but my eyeballs do tend to sweat. As Shakespeare wrote in Romeo and Juliet, “parting is such sweet sorrow.” So wipe away the sweat, celebrate the joy for these girls and stay dedicated to the Bulldogs who still need us.
Don’t stop believing…

7/6/25 INTRODUCTION: Please welcome Andromeda to our rescue family! This resilient soul’s eyes tell the story of heartbreak, survival and hope finally restored.
At just about 4 years old, Andromeda has already lived through more than any dog should. She once belonged to a young woman struggling with addiction and caught in the cycle of an abusive relationship. When the woman sought help, one of the places she visited noticed she had a Bulldog—but like many with troubled pasts, she eventually disappeared.
A concerned social worker followed up at the woman’s last known address and found Andromeda alone in the backyard. Her body was covered in fleas, flies, and painful sores. Her ears were visibly infected. Her skin was stained from urine, and her sagging belly told the silent story of past litters. She had clearly been neglected for a long time—and her spirit was nearly broken.
Thankfully, that day became a turning point. The social worker intervened, and Andromeda was brought out of that yard, given a flea bath, and welcomed—at last—into a safe, air-conditioned home. It was the beginning of her second chance.
While the years have taken a toll on her physically and emotionally, Andromeda is incredibly sweet, gentle and eager to feel loved. She’s now on the road to healing—and looking forward to a future filled with comfort, care and companionship.
Better days are here, sweet girl. The best is yet to come. 🐾

7/10/25 UPDATE: Thank you all for the outpouring of love and support for our sweet foster girl, Andromeda.
After a journey marked by hardship (and a rather “ripe” doggie aroma), I’ve landed in a home that knows how to treat royalty. My foster humans gave me a warm bath, luxurious spa-style toweling, and loving caresses. Sigh. Yes, this is the life I deserve.
I even discovered something magical today: Bulldog Happy Hour. Where has this been all my life? A girl could seriously get used to this.
Now I lounge on one of my many she-sheds, awaiting a gourmet meal, belly rubs, and, perhaps, a soft lullaby. The only thing missing? A forever family to worship—I mean, love—me properly.
But I know they’re out there. And like any goddess worth her crown, I won’t have to wait long. ✨
9/13/25 UPDATE: From foster girl Andromeda: Since arriving at my foster home, I’ve been soaking up all the comfort and calm it has to offer. I’m so chill, I make an ice bucket challenge look like a summer bonfire. 🧊😎
Life was quiet… until my new fur roommate, foster girl Turnip the Beet, showed up. After the traditional greeting (you know, the standard butt sniff), she struck the universal play pose: front paws down, back end up, full of sass and energy. At first, I wasn’t sure what to do. I’d never really played before. But Turnip showed me the ropes, and now? I’m a natural! We’re fast friends, and playtime has become a new favorite part of my day.
When I’m not romping around, I’m usually busy being the world’s most affectionate shadow. I’m especially attached to my foster parents. Whether it’s sneaking snuggles on the couch or stretching out beside them at bedtime, I make it my mission to be close. I’ve even been known to claim a human chest or arm as my personal pillow. If you’re looking for a cuddly companion, I might just be your perfect match. 💕
Here’s a little more about me—because I’m kind of a catch.
Let me brag on me:
*Loving
*Obedient
*Never foul the house (fully house-trained!)
*Enjoy the finer things in life, especially mealtime
My daily menu includes morning and evening protein (yes, please), and a midday Bulldog Happy Hour featuring fruit, pastries and a rotating chef’s special. It’s a five-star foster life, and I am here for it.
Thanks to my playful roomie and patient foster parents, I’m learning more every day: how to play, how to relax and how it feels to be truly loved. 💛
If you’re ready to welcome a loving, loyal and delightfully snuggly Bulldog into your life, I may be the match for you. I’ve got a lot to give, and I’m just getting started.
9/21/25 UPDATE: Andromeda needs a family! She writes: Every night, I curl up in Foster Dad’s bed and make sure everyone knows—he’s mine. I’ve perfected a move inspired by the Philly Eagles’ famous “Tush Push” play. In my version, I subtly nudge my fur sister out of position and proudly present my winning move: she gets a full view of my victory tush while I claim my rightful spot. Game. Set. Match.
Speaking of competition, let’s talk about “Miss Goody Four Paws” herself—my roommate, Turnip the Beet. This week, she decided to spice things up. While Foster Dad was working in the garage with the door open, and Foster Mom cracked open the house door, Turnip made a break for it. That’s right: full jailbreak mode. As we say in Texas, the rodeo was on.
She bolted and gallivanted through the neighborhood like she was training for the greyhound track. Foster Dad had to jump in the Bulldog Limo to track her down. Once caught, she was placed in time-out and sentenced to reflect on her choices.
Meanwhile, I? I stay loyal to the comforts of home life. This morning’s breakfast featured bacon bits… also known as pure magic. The bacon flavor adds a gourmet flair, and let’s just say, I licked my bowl so clean, the humans could’ve skipped the dishes (they didn’t, but I protested).
The best part? Bacon bits are rumored to be on the breakfast menu again. I’m already dreaming about it and licking my chops in anticipation.
Why should I be the next star in your family? Consider my resume:
*I’m house-trained and do all my potty business outside like a pro.
*I follow commands like a champ.
*I absolutely love being brushed—pampering is my love language.
*I’m affectionate, funny, and full of personality.
*And yes, I’m very food motivated, in case training incentives are needed.
Still undecided? Let’s just say I’ve already mastered the art of snuggles, comedy and bacon appreciation. What more could you want?
10/3/25 UPDATE: Andromeda needs a family! She shares: Allow me to apprise all y’all: if you’re trying to reach me, I recommend FaceTime over letters—I’m more of a face-to-face kind of gal.
My foster folks say I’m the picture of calm and refinement. I enjoy lounging outdoors and watching hummingbirds flit about. I hear they hum because they don’t know the words… (a little Bulldog humor for you!).
According to my foster family, I’m what they call a rara avis—a rare bird among Bulldogs. I didn’t know that was a thing (Latin isn’t my first language). And as they say, “Latin is a dying language; it killed the Romans, and it’s killing me!”
Now, let’s talk communication. I understand several English words, like “eat,” “house,” “bed,” “no,” and “potty.” But I’m really fluent in gestures and tones. Finger wags? They shame me. A cheerful hip pat? I’m motivated. A gentle chest pat at bedtime? That’s my cue to snuggle in close to Foster Dad in the doggy dormitory. I also respond to tongue clicks and high-pitched voices. Yes, I’m highly attuned. What a lucky girl I am!
I also contribute around the house. While Foster Dad works from his home office, my roommate foster girl Turnip the Beet and I assist with morale and security. We don’t slack off, but occasionally, we do drift off mid-shift. It’s exhausting work being this adorable and well-behaved.
Now, let’s talk lifestyle. I am a refined lady and do not labor in the trenches. Instead, I indulge in the finer things. For example, today’s Bulldog Happy Hour featured London broil over mac and cheese with a side of key lime pie. Tomorrow’s menu? Chicken pot pie. I didn’t know a life this delicious was even possible. Naturally, I take my good fortune seriously, which is why I keep close watch over the silver box in the kitchen where the delicacies are stored. Someone must guard the treasure.
In personality, I embody everything you’d want in a Bulldog: calm, affectionate, gentle and sweet. My foster peeps dote on me like a small child. Honestly… I don’t mind.
If you think I might be the perfect addition to your family, don’t hesitate to let my people know. I’ll be waiting for my perfect match!
With grace and gratitude,
Andromeda
10/21/25 UPDATE ~ From foster girl Andromeda: I’m a certified chill lover! Don’t just take my word for it… witness it for yourself! Do I have Foster Dad’s number? Heck, I don’t even know how to count, but I do know how to love.
