Buck-O

5/13/26 INTRODUCTION ~ Please welcome Buck-O to our rescue family!

He shares: Bulldog friends, allow me to introduce myself… my name is Buck Owens, but my friends call me Buck-O.

On June 11, I’ll officially turn 2 years old, and yesterday, I joined rescue in search of a fresh start and, hopefully, a brand-new best friend.

I even wore my “Best Friend” harness because that’s exactly what I’m looking for. And trust me: I can absolutely be your new best friend.

I’m told I’m one of the sweetest Bulldogs you’ll ever meet, and honestly, my silky-soft fur alone should win me bonus points. But behind this adorable face is still a young Bulldog with lots of energy, enthusiasm and a little bit of growing up left to do. After all, I’m basically still just a giant baby at 61 pounds. 😂

My family loved me very much, and saying goodbye was hard on everyone. Even Grandma came to give me hugs and kisses before I left. Sometimes love also means realizing a dog may need a different environment to succeed and that’s how I found my way to rescue.

Now… I should probably address the shoe in the room.

Apparently, I have what humans are calling a “foot and shoe obsession.”

When I see people walking around in shoes, something inside me says, “I MUST HAVE THEM.” It became a favorite game of mine to grab onto shoes while people were walking. I never wanted to destroy them. I just really wanted them for myself.

Unfortunately, what was funny and cute when I was a tiny puppy became a lot less adorable once I grew into a strong 61-pound Bulldog, especially with a small child in the home.

The good news is that my rescue friends believe a lot of this behavior can improve with structure, consistency, training, and now that I’ve been neutered. I’m learning that not everyone appreciates me hanging onto their sneakers like it’s an Olympic sport. 😅

I’m told I will be matched to a patient, Bulldog-savvy family willing to help guide me as I continue learning better habits. I’m affectionate, goofy and energetic. I absolutely mean no harm. I just need you to understand that young Bulldogs sometimes come with a little extra personality.

And honestly? Underneath my shoe fascination is a really wonderful dog just hoping someone will give me the chance to become my very best friend.
