11/25/25 AWESOME ADOPTION ALERT times two! From the foster pops: Today, the forces of love, timing and a lot of dedication came together in the most beautiful way: a joint adoption for two best friends who were once on the brink of being abandoned.
Aspen and Arlo, former roomies and dear companions, are officially beginning their future together with their wonderful new family, Denise and Jim.
The excitement was overflowing as Arlo’s foster mom Debbie, her daughter, and my wife and I (Aspen’s foster parents) gathered with Denise and Jim to celebrate the big day.
There were hugs, happy tears and more love in one room than we ever could’ve imagined. Jim’s smile was so big, it might require surgical removal later.
These two Bulldogs wasted no time soaking up attention from both of their new parents.
Next, Aspen and Arlo hopped into the back seat, side by side, ready for the ride to their new home. As they settled in, they seemed to know that this was the beginning of something wonderful.
On behalf of both pups, thank you to everyone at Lone Star Bulldog Club Rescue for giving them, and so many others, a chance at a new life.
To quote Aspen herself: “I did not hesitate when we left, but at that final kiss, I assured you, my beloved foster peeps, that while I am finally in my forever home, you will always be my heart’s inspiration.”
And this is what her heart sang as she looked toward her new life:
Away I drove with a piece of your heart,
As my adoptive family gave me a new start.
But I heard you exclaim, with a tear in your eye,
Fare thee well, dear Bulldog, but never goodbye.
I like to say I never cry at the goodbye kiss… but sometimes my eyeballs sweat. As Shakespeare wrote, “parting is such sweet sorrow.” So wipe away the sweat, celebrate the joy for your Bulldog, and open your heart to the next one who needs you.
This is why we foster.
Because moments like this make every tear, every mile and every goodbye worth it.

11/21/25 INTRODUCTION ~ Please welcome Aspen to our rescue family! Aspen’s story is a heartbreaking one. Her former owner decided he no longer wanted her or her friend Arlo and told a neighbor he planned to open the gate and “let them go.” Where they would end up, or whether they would survive, didn’t seem to matter to him.
Thankfully, that neighbor knew the dangers of abandoning Bulldogs in the country and stepped in immediately. Despite already having a home full of dumped dogs, she made room for Aspen and Arlo and reached out to rescue right away. A couple of weeks ago, Ty and Tina drove to East Texas to bring both Bulldogs safely into our care.
Aspen is 4 years old, fully vetted and today, she settled into her wonderful foster home with Robert and Meg. She’s a thick, beautiful girl with a smile that could melt anyone’s heart.
Aspen will soon be looking through our approved applications for a family who loves a full-figured queen, and a family that will never let her go again.
11/22/25 UPDATE ~ From foster girl Aspen: I’ve known sadness… but the moment I crossed the threshold into my new foster home yesterday, every bit of misery melted away. Word on the street was that the guest suite at Chez Maison Ménard BnB had just become available, so naturally, I hustled to claim it before anyone else could.
My foster mom swept me up like royalty and immediately showered me with meat, cheese and pastries while complimenting my beauty and charm. What can I say? When you’ve got it, flaunt it. And trust me… These looks? Worth flaunting.
Now, rumors of the BBnB’s haute cuisine had my expectations sky-high, until I heard whispers of “a little thick around the middle” and “extra rolls around the neck.” Apparently, the menu stays the same… but the portions shrink. Losing weight? Oh, bother.
My name, Aspen, comes from the graceful poplar tree with shimmering leaves. Soon enough, I’ll be shaking and sparkling with confidence too.
Because I’ve lived in a home before and mastered domestic decorum, my foster people granted me all-access privileges almost immediately. I explored the premises, did my business outside like a lady, and then settled into a Coolaroo bed in Foster Dad’s office. Prime real estate, if you ask me.
And since my people believe in earning our keep, I applied for and accepted two important positions: Office Assistant and Personal Bodyguard.
Don’t be fooled by my demure lounging pose. I can spring into action at any moment (after a brief nap, of course).
Have you noticed my bright white socks on all four paws? I wear them proudly. It’s part of my brand.
Santa Claus, known to us Bulldogs as Santa Paws, is gearing up for his annual sleigh ride, and my foster folks say I’ll be fully ready to be someone’s Christmas miracle. They’ve been around this rescue block a time or two and assure all potential adopters that I won’t be waiting long before someone claims me from this eggnog kiosk. I mean, who doesn’t love a Bulldog or two under (or rummaging through) the tree?
Happy Thanksgiving to all y’all. I know I’m thankful for Lone Star Bulldog Club Rescue.
