Bellatrix

Bellatrix

7/14/25 AWESOME ADOPTION ALERT! From the foster momma: Bellatrix packed up her belongings and hit the road to start her new life! Her new mom made a long trip to meet her on familiar turf, giving Bellatrix the time and space she needed to feel comfortable.

At first, Bellatrix wasn’t quite sure what to make of her visitor. But after more than an hour of patience, sitting at her level, and offering tasty treats, Bellatrix decided this stranger might just be someone special. Soon, she was ready to play — and when asked if she wanted to go, she happily slipped on her harness and headed out the door!

Now, Bellatrix is settling into her new home, enjoying snuggles, playtime and the beginning of her forever.

INTRODUCTION: Rescue, I’m not going to lie. I have been waiting for you to come along.

I am now 6 years old and for as long as I can remember, I’ve lived my life in a crate. Just about 24/7…. I was out for only short periods of time. It started when the first baby came along and now there is another one on the way.

Today, I became crate-free and I’m proud to be. It’s been rough on me, looking at the world through wire.

I am leery of men at first and standoffish, but once I get you to know you, then I am all good.

I hope to sit with Dr. Larsen this week and tell her all about me. She’ll help me get ready for my forever family who will never put me in a crate again.

8/3/23 UPDATE:  Foster girl Bellatrix will most likely need to live in an all-woman home. It will take her awhile to warm up to a man.

She’s very sweet and loves to take strolls outside and hangout with people.

She can be picked up and bathed, and she causes no issues. She just needs someone to understand her. She’s a lovebug once she gets to know you.

6/8/24 UPDATE  Bellatrix is a sweet and special gal. She loves women; it takes her time to warm up to a man. She would prefer to be in a mellow home where she can just be the queen. She would need to meet her future mom and see if they are the right fit before moving in together. Maybe go on a date or two… LOL. She is not a “take-me-home-on-a-first-date” kind of girl. 🙂

6/22/25 UPDATE: Bellatrix needs a family! From the foster momma: She knew something was different last Monday. After a long stay in the vet’s office, Bellatrix sensed that this day might be her day—the day she finally got a true foster home to call her own.

When I walked in to pick up my Bulldogs, Bellatrix greeted me with a flood of slobbery kisses. We’d met before, and she clearly remembered. As I gathered up belongings, she hovered nearby, listening closely. And when she realized she was going along for the ride… 🎉

Bellatrix was a perfect passenger on the way home. Once we arrived, she settled in like she’d always been here. She met the resident senior dog, Ace, and the cat, Sassy—her first cat encounter ever, I assume! Bellatrix gave Sassy an approving glance and moved on. She also discovered cows for the first time through the back door window—so many new things to see.

Eventually, she stretched out on the cool floor beside foster dad for a well-deserved rest.

At 8 years and 3 months old, Bellatrix is a sweet and sassy senior saint who knows exactly what she wants. If she’s not impressed, she’ll let you know with a dramatic huff or a side-eye worthy of an Oscar. She tried watermelon for the first time on Wednesday and ate herself into a full-on watermelon coma. She was not amused when foster dad was late getting home from work—after all, snuggles and attention are not optional.

Bellatrix is settling into foster life beautifully. She’s a big, lovable girl with a giant heart who’s ready to find a family who understands and adores her for exactly who she is.

Looking for a gentle, goofy, opinionated senior to love? Bellatrix might just be your girl. ❤️

7/4/25 UPDATE: Bellatrix needs a family! From the foster momma: Bellatrix has officially settled back into foster home life—and she’s running on her schedule now! No more calling it a night at 5 p.m.—this girl likes to stay up late and sleep in until 9 or 10 a.m., with breakfast expected promptly upon waking, thank you very much.

She’s decided that grown-ups and little kids are her people and absolutely adores them. Teenagers, however? Not so much. She lets them know with a low growl and a well-timed side-eye. It’s broken a few teenage hearts, but they’ve learned to respect this big girl’s boundaries.
