Bentley Dakota (now Sir Mirliton Malcom Toussaint Gilford)

Dakota Bentley was adopted and his new name is Sir Mirliton Malcom Toussaint Gilford. Say that five times fast…. Another happily ever after!

Bulldog friends it’s me Bentley Dakota and today I joined rescue.

When I took a stroll around town, and no one came looking for me I was shocked.  After all I am just a big baby.  When animal control pulled up beside me and offered to give me a ride I jumped right in the front seat. I didn’t care where we were going, I just knew I was tired of walking. We ended up at the animal shelter.

I was nervous when I got out. I had never been to a shelter, but this shelter was amazing. I quickly became everyone’s favorite.  I stayed in the office with the ladies, and I was learning how to answer the phone when rescue came for me. I was not sure I wanted to go. At the shelter there was breakfast, then a break, followed by lunch and a break and snacks at my desk throughout the day. All the ladies brought their lunch from home, and everyone shared their lunch with me.  I had it made. Nothing better than getting to sample everyone’s cooking.  I was all ready to give my shirt size when rescue came for me.  It took some convincing that leaving was the right thing to do. Especially when the ladies hugged me, and some started to cry.

Everyone told me to find a family that would let me be their best friend, take me everywhere and to make sure I never got lost again. So, that’s my story and I am sticking to it. I got lost, I was found, and now I am looking for an amazing family who will make sure I never get lost again.  Bentley Dakota, age 1.

7/11/24 Update:  Bentley Dakota has been a good foster boy! He’s definitely a chewer. He LOVES to kill the squeakers. LOL

He even manages to get into the “indestructible” toys.

He acts as if he was someone’s dog before he was found. He understands “no,” is kennel trained and LOVES to be on his back in a lap. “Anyone’s lap will do” is his motto!

He is high-energy, very dog-friendly and will do well with kids. He’s  still recovering from neutering and attempting to mark less often.
