Birdie

Birdie

Today, after a little over a year in our home and hearts, Birdie has officially found her family!

Birdie has been adopted by Carly and Jeremy, the incredible family who also adopted Wishbone and Zellie.

Birdie already knows and adores her new fur siblings — from the first time they played together, it was clear they were meant to be lifelong friends.

Our hearts are so full — and honestly, a little tender too.

Birdie wasn’t “just a foster” to us… she became part of our family. We have loved her through every silly moment, every zoomie, every cuddle, and every milestone.

Letting her go is bittersweet — but knowing she is going to a home full of so much love, joy and familiarity brings incredible peace.

Carly and Jeremy, thank you from the bottom of our hearts for loving Birdie the way we do.

You have given her the most precious gift — not just a home, but a true family she can spend the rest of her life with.

We cannot wait to watch Birdie, Zellie and Wishbone grow together, and we are beyond grateful that Birdie’s next chapter will be filled with so much love.

Welcome home, sweet Birdie. You will always carry a piece of our hearts with you.

“She came into our lives for a season, but she will live in our hearts forever.”

Today, I landed in rescue! What’s my story, you ask? Well, I don’t really know.

I’m not sure if I had a family and lost them. Or maybe I was dumped.

What I do know is someone dropped me off at the shelter, claiming I was hit by a car. You heard that right ~ hit by a car.

X-rays show no broken bones, so I’m not real sure if I was or wasn’t hit by a car.

I also know I am still young ~ probably between 9 and 12 months old. And a lightweight at about 22 lbs.

I was very scared at the shelter. I trembled and I wouldn’t walk! The people there were nice, but I was so relieved to get out of there.

As soon as I got into my new friend’s car, I knew I was safe and by the time she got me home, I was a happy puppy!

I’ll need a few surgeries before I’m ready to find my next family. Stay tuned to watch me make my journey through rescue.

2/9/24 Update:  It’s only been a few days in her foster home and Birdie is relaxing and showing her personality. Such a strong bark in a tiny body!

The movement of the TV apparently scares her. When Birdie gets scared, she barks. And Foster Mom thought she was going to be able to unwind before bed… LOL

2/23/24 Update:  Birdie is all puppy! Birdie has accompanied me to some training classes. The trainer said Birdie is very smart and very treat driven ~ words any Bulldog parent loves to hear! Birdie is very sweet and loves all people and dogs.

Birdie does have a quirk. Mostly, it happens at night. As everyone settles into bed and something startles her, she comes up defensively. It could be another pup moving, me moving, something flashing on the TV, or a sound. It has also happened when she is napping. But one thing is certain, no one is breaking in with her around because she is going to let you know she hears something!
