Blaze Runner

Blaze Runner

2/15/26 AWESOME ADOPTION ALERT! From the foster and forever momma: We have the most exciting and heartwarming news to share!

Back in January 2025, we began our journey as foster parents with this incredible organization. We originally had our hearts set on one particular pup, but he needed heartworm treatment and as brand-new fosters, that felt a bit overwhelming at the time. So, we opened our home to another sweet dog instead.

Fast forward to July… and guess who arrived as our fourth foster? The very same dog.

By then, he had bravely completed heartworm treatment, and we were finally ready to welcome him home. We named him Blaze Runner.

At first, we believed Blaze Runner was simply passing through on his way to a new life in Florida. But once he settled in, it became clear that he had some big hurdles to overcome before he’d be ready for any big move, or even ready for his forever home.

And so began the journey of a lifetime.

Blaze Runner had multiple medical challenges affecting his breathing. He underwent surgery on his soft palate and nares/nostrils, and even had his tonsils removed… all to help him breathe comfortably. After recovering from those procedures, he faced surgery to repair an ACL tear in his right leg.

Once his leg healed, we realized his struggles weren’t over. At just a year and a half old, Blaze Runner was having serious vision issues. We learned that his difficulty seeing was likely contributing to his fear and attempts to nip — not aggression, but confusion and discomfort. So we moved forward with eye surgery to improve his sight.

And just last week, Blaze Runner underwent what we truly hope will be his final surgery: repairing a tear in his left patella.

Through every procedure, every recovery, every setback and triumph, Blaze Runner has been unbelievably brave. His resilience, his spirit and his determination have inspired us daily.

Somewhere along the way, though we can’t pinpoint exactly when, Blaze Runner stopped being “our foster dog.” He became our family.

A couple of months ago, we realized the truth: he was already home.

Today, we are beyond thrilled to officially announce that Blaze Runner has been adopted and is now a permanent, cherished member of our family. ❤️

And as if his story couldn’t get sweeter… Blaze Runner even has his own kitten now, and watching him gently and lovingly play with his tiny best friend is pure magic.

Thank you to Lone Star Bulldog Club Rescue for trusting us with this incredible boy. Blaze Runner’s journey may have been long and complicated, but it led him exactly where he was meant to be.

Home.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
At just 1 year old, Blaze Runner might be one of the cutest Bulldogs. He’s on the smaller side and could use a little weight, but his sweet personality more than makes up for it.
Blaze Runner has patiently waited for his turn to join rescue, as his home situation wasn’t ideal. The resident dog didn’t get along with him, and the giant Great Pyrenees was very serious about being the only dog in the house.
Unfortunately, Blaze Runner found himself alone much of the time, as no one wanted him to get hurt. With a 150-pound dog around, it’s easy to see how a smaller dog could be at risk.
It was a tough goodbye for Blaze Runner, but the kids in his home made sure to tell him they loved him and wished him the best, hoping he would find a family that would take him on all their adventures.
Blaze Runner walks wonderfully on a leash, sits for treats, and will win you over in just about 5 seconds with his cuteness. He’s truly a lovable, sweet boy who deserves a family that will make him feel like part of the team!
8/13/25 UPDATE ~ From the foster momma: It’s been about three weeks since Blaze Runner arrived at his foster home, and this sweet guy has been doing amazing! He’s settling in beautifully and stealing hearts left and right — it’s honestly impossible not to love him.
That said, we do have a little bump in the road. Blaze Runner’s breathing has been a bit rough, so he’s scheduled for surgery next Monday to help him breathe easier. Please send all your good vibes, prayers and positive thoughts his way. I’m a nervous wreck (understandably — he’s a total sweetheart!).
In other news, Blaze Runner may be facing termination from his role as “office assistant” for repeated infractions of… sleeping on the job. 💤 He says he never liked that gig anyway. 😂
Stay tuned for more updates on this lovable goofball and thank you for cheering him on!
8/25/25 UPDATE: From foster boy Blaze Runner: I had my soft palate surgery last Monday, and my foster mom says I’m recovering like a total pro.
I’ve still got a couple more surgeries ahead to help fix my legs and eyes. I’m getting the full makeover treatment!
The best part? I can finally breathe through my nose! That means potty breaks take a little longer now… because I have to stop and smell the roses. 🌹
And guess what? I can sleep on my side now, too. Life is already feeling a million times better.
Stay tuned. Blaze Runner 2.0 is on the way! 🔥
9/10/25 UPDATE: From the foster momma: Blaze Runner’s fully healed from his soft palate surgery and feeling better than ever. Mornings are now his favorite time, filled with toys, tail wags and happy zoomies. He’s also 99% potty trained and has mastered his potty bells like a pro! Blaze Runner is a pup who marches to the beat of his own drum. ♥
12/1/25 UDPATE: From foster boy Blaze Runner: Just wanted to pop in with a little personal update on my health journey!
I’m absolutely thrilled to tell you that I had my eye surgery with Dr. Lay last week and it was a complete success! He truly did an amazing job on both my upper and lower eyelids. I’m honestly over the moon with the results. My vision is incredibly clear now. It’s like seeing the world in high definition again! This super-sharp vision is going to be absolutely perfect for keeping an even closer eye on my foster mom.
My recovery has been going really smoothly so far, which is fantastic. Just one more step to go! My leg surgery is scheduled for December 17. I’m feeling really optimistic about this final procedure and can’t wait to be completely back on my feet, full of energy and ready to go.
