Chevelle

Chevelle

Chevelle hit the jackpot this weekend when she met Jamie, Clay, and their resident Bulldog, Meatball! There was plenty of playing, and Chevelle made sure to snuggle with both adults to ensure they fell in love with her. She’s found her perfect match and is sure to have a wonderful life ahead.

Chevelle was surrendered to us along with Bode B. Brown. Bode B. Brown writes: Whew! What an eventful few days it’s been. Chevelle and I have spent the past seven months in a small house with four other Bulldogs and three cats. It wasn’t always easy. Someone in the home told our owner to ‘get rid’ of us, and that included me, Chevelle, and my brother. Sadly, my brother passed away the night before rescue arrived to help us. I don’t know what happened, but he’s not here anymore.

At that house, we were outside a lot, and we’re so relieved to start our new lives now. Our family was kind, but I guess we were just a bit too much for them.

I was thrilled to meet Carrie, the rescue volunteer! I jumped on her with all 50 pounds of me! I’m definitely a hunk. Chevelle is much more laid-back, though she’s in heat right now.

On the ride out, Chevelle lay calmly in the back seat, while I rode shotgun, licking Carrie’s coffee cup the whole way to the vet. Carrie was definitely awake for the long drive after that — not sure why she didn’t want her coffee anymore, though!

I might’ve been a bit too big for the car seat, but I managed to hop back and forth between the front and back to check on Chevelle. Every time I did, I set off the seatbelt chime. Oops!

I was great at the vet, but I wasn’t a fan of the small exam room. That’s when Carrie noticed my fleas and realized how dirty I really was. The vet was super nice, though, and the shots didn’t hurt too much. I do have some ear infections (just like Chevelle), and my eyes have been bothering me. They’re really red, and they keep watering.

But here’s the best news — both Chevelle and I are heartworm negative! We’re sweet, lovable Bulldogs who just need a little TLC. I also need to lose the jewels (whatever that means), and Chevelle needs her spay, too.

We’re ready to start our new chapter just in time for the holidays, and we’re hoping to find families who can give us all the love we deserve. Thank you for giving us this special gift of a new start.

1/10/25 Update:  I picked Chevelle up yesterday, and she’s just the sweetest little chonky girl! She jumped right into the car and hopped out eagerly when we arrived at my place. So far, everything is going smoothly with the resident Bulldog—she’s completely unphased by his “warning” barks. She seems comfortable already, especially after getting to sleep in bed with me, which she absolutely loved.

1/17/25 Update:  Chevelle continues to be a calm and loving companion. She craves affection and attention, and while she enjoys her outdoor time, she is still working on being fully house-trained.

Chevelle will be seeing the vet next week for a spay and a full checkup. When she’s ready, she will make an incredible addition to any family. You’d be lucky to have this sweet, beautiful young lady by your side.

1/24/25 Update:  Sweet Chevelle has t settled in and is now happily jumping on the couch, where she’s discovered her favorite spot to burrow, hide, and observe her surroundings.

She’s a queen when it comes to creature comforts—whether it’s the coziest spot on the bed (when she’s allowed) or the softest spot on the couch, Chevelle knows how to get comfy!

This little sweetheart loves her pets and snuggles just as much as she enjoys her quiet time. She’s not bothered by the resident dog, though when she spotted a rabbit, her instinct to chase kicked in!

We’re working on her potty training—she’s great about going outside, so I’m confident she’ll soon be patient about staying off the beds.

Chevelle will be going in for her spay next week, and she’s hoping that the perfect application is already on its way to one of our amazing coordinators. She’s ready to be your valentine!

1/30/25 Update:   This little girl is an absolute sweetheart—so calm and loving!

She’s been soaking her paw in the tub due to an interdigital cyst, and she actually jumps right in on her own. She’ll walk back and forth, patiently waiting for me to let her know it’s time to come out (treats definitely help with that!).

She’s confident on a leash and is making great progress with her overnight potty training—still a work in progress, but getting better each day.

I have a feeling she’d love a playful companion to share her days with, as the resident curmudgeon Bulldog is not quite interested in being her buddy.

She’s due for her spay soon, and after that, she’ll be ready to steal your heart as your perfect forever Valentine.

2/13/25 Update:  I took Chevelle back to the vet on Saturday for a checkup on her toe. The doctor says it’s healing well, and now we’re just waiting on the results from the pathology. We’re all praying for good news!

On the way home, Chevelle decided she wanted to drive and jumped right into my side of the car.

She managed to chew off her bandage in one day and still keeps nibbling at it, which makes it tender. But despite that, she’s in good spirits!

Luckily, she found the resident Bulldog’s raised bed to be the perfect spot for a nap (though he wasn’t too thrilled about it). Sweet Chevelle couldn’t care less, though!
