Claire

Sweet Miss Claire has been adopted!

Miss Claire came to Rescue from a shelter in the Dallas area. She is a Senior Saint at the age of 7 years  She was heart worm positive and has now had her treatment and has 2 more weeks of crate rest.  She also had a tail infection and has recovered from her tail removal surgery.  She is Very, Very Easy to foster.  She is quite, smart, obedient and sweet as they come.  No problems with this girl!!!!!!  After having her for awhile I have realized she has not had a good life.  She acts as if she has been abused.  When you come toward her she tucks her head as if waiting for the blow.  I have been working to reassuring her that there are people in the world that will love her, not hit her.  It puzzles me that someone could be cruel to her because she is such a sweet and well mannered girl.

Only good days for this baby in the future.  She is a girl you love instantly!  There’s no way you couldn’t.  She is fine with the cat and all the other dogs in the house.  Never causes a problem.  SHE JUST NEEDS A LOT OF LOVE!!  She needs a family that is committed to adopting her and giving her a better life.  No returns on this one she’s been miss treated enough!!!!

8/16/16 Update:  Claire is my perfect dog. She’s a little bit older dog, around 6 years, but the best dog in the world. The only issue that she has is that it takes her a little while to trust people. She has been abused and thinks instead of getting a petting, when you reach for her, she’s going to get a beating. We have come a long way together. She has stopped running from me when I put my hand out. She stands really still waiting for the good news (a rub) or the bad news (a blow). That’s progress. Little by little, she is trusting me. She is a baby that needs a lot of love. I don’t believe she has ever known what love is. She loves to walk and does fabulous on her leash. She seems to have never got to go outside and she is just amazed by it. Claire was a product of hoarding. All she has ever known is a cage, so even on a leash, she is experiencing freedom. Just like a child experiencing something wonderful for the first time. After her walk, she comes in and goes straight to her bed. With week 4 of her being in my family, she has decided to come into the living room at night and lay with the rest of us. This is a BIG accomplishment! She is beginning to trust and want to be part of the family unit. She is so quiet and sweet, sometimes I forget she’s even in the house and I have to go look for her. There is not one aggressive bone in her body. SHE IS MY PERFECT CHILD!  Some people may think that Claire is not the prettiest foster girl we have, but what she lacks in Bulldog looks, she makes up for in sweetness. She has had a terrible life and all I want for her is a furever family that has a BIG HEART and can give her a life she has never had before. SHE WILL ALWAYS BE THE BULLY THAT GIVES BACK TO YOU MORE THAN YOU CAN EVER GIVE TO HER. SHE IS SO GRATEFUL WHEN SHE LOOKS AT YOU.  I am so glad I got to be the one that taught her that humans aren’t all mean and that she is worth loving. She will be my girl until we find the perfect family because she only needs one more change of address in her life and that one needs to be forever!

8/21/16 Update:  Claire is my quiet girl. She has made great improvement with her trust issues this week. She has started wandering around the house. I know this doesn’t sound like much, but for a girl that went from being scared to come out of her crate, then to the bedroom, then to the living room and now the entire house, this is HUGE. She isn’t ducking her head any more when I reach to pet her. She has realized there’s no hitting in this house. Claire will have to be in a quiet home. She HATES drama. When my two bossy girls get into it, she hides and vomits. I can’t imagine what this baby has been through in her past, but I can promise her, those days are over. We are going to the vet this week to talk about the vomiting and see if we can get it under control for her. No aggressive pets in her furever family, just quiet and love. By the time she finds her new family, she will be well adjusted and all her bad days forgotten. That’s my goal and I won’t let her down. While I am teaching Claire trust, she is teaching me patience and calmness and the results are very rewarding.
