Clyde Conner

Clyde Conner

After a year and a half in rescue, Clyde Conner has finally found his perfect home! He walked in like he owned the place, and we couldn’t be happier for him.

This sweet boy is surrounded by a loving family eager to shower him with attention. He’s got a new senior sister to hang out with and a sprawling, lush yard for hours of sniffing and exploring.

It’s truly heartwarming when adopters recognize the incredible qualities of older Bulldogs, and Clyde Conner is no exception. While we will miss him dearly, we’re overjoyed knowing he’s found a family that will give him the love and care he deserves.

Here’s to Clyde Conner’s best years yet—enjoy every moment, sweet boy!

As you can imagine, I don’t feel good.

One of my eyes hurts bad and no matter how many times I get it cleaned up, it gets all goopy 5 minutes later. And my ears? You should see my ears. They are almost closed.

I met with Dr. Larsen yesterday and she took some X-rays. She told me that one of the reasons I am feeling so bad is that I currently have kidney stones. I knew there was a problem because when I urinate, not much comes out and I still have the urge to go. I spend a lot of time trying to pee.

I am a bit congested too, so I will be on antibiotics for about a week before I can have my major kidney stone removal surgery.

I am 7 years old and before you know it, I will be feeling fabulous. I’ll be looking through the approved applications for a wonderful family who will love me to pieces.

1/15/24 Update:  Clyde has taken to his first week in foster care like a fish to water, or rather a Bulldog to a comfy bed.

In a word, he’s a joy. Clyde is easygoing and friendly, completely relaxed around other bulldogs, and just as happy playing fetch as he is curling up in his bed while his foster dad works.

He is hard of hearing, so we’ve learned to use hand signals to get his attention. He’ll whine whenever he wants something, but is a quiet and polite senior gentleman.

He’s a good boy when it’s time to put in his eye meds and has yet to meet a toy he doesn’t like.

Clyde mostly sets up residence in the kitchen next to the kibble containers, just to make sure he’s first in line when dinner is served. We’ve given him a bed to keep him comfortable while he waits (Bulldog, party of four? Your table is ready).

In all, Clyde seems like the perfect companion for someone who wants a quiet, relaxed buddy to keep them company. He does well in a home with other dogs but would be perfectly content with only a human or two. He’s ready to be your new best friend, and he is so deserving of a loving forever home.

1/30/24 Update:  Clyde Conner has quickly settled in as part of the foster family. He’s been given his own giant donut bed, where he enjoys snoozing most of the day away. However, he’s still very playful. He enjoys getting all of the toys out, finding a bone he likes, and spending hours chewing and squeaking.

While he doesn’t directly play with any of our other dogs, he doesn’t mind them in the least. Even Angie Diane, our foster-fail swimmer puppy who’s always going 100 mph, doesn’t faze him. Clyde Conner is just happy to be wherever his people are.

He’s good about going to the back door when he needs to use the bathroom. He waits patiently to be fed, and he only whines when one of his toys rolls under a piece of furniture where he can’t reach it. He’s even good about his daily eye meds. All in all, he’s a sweet boy with a gentle soul and a cheerful disposition.

If you’ve been dreaming of a Bulldog buddy who just wants to curl up at your feet and keep you company, Clyde Conner is your guy. He’s always happy to get a pet or give a lick, and he can’t wait to meet you!

5/1/24 Update:  He’s s such a sweet gentleman. He just goes with the flow. He loves his naps and being near his people. He’s going to see a specialist about his ongoing eye issues. In the meantime, he’s looking through the approved applications to hopefully find his next home.

11/1/24 Update:  Clyde Conner has been relishing the crisp autumn mornings on the porch (sometimes with his buddy, alumna Caboose). This has quickly become his favorite spot.

He makes it clear when he wants to soak up the fresh air by sitting by the door and giving a soft whine. If we don’t respond right away, it escalates into a comically demanding bark—especially amusing because he’s usually such a quiet guy. He rarely barks for food or even when a passerby catches his attention. While his hearing isn’t what it used to be, it doesn’t hold him back.

We’ve been dealing with a stubborn eye infection that comes and goes, but Clyde Conner is incredibly patient during our daily eye treatments. As long as he gets a treat, he’s perfectly content to let us do whatever’s needed. He might require a bit of maintenance, but what dog doesn’t? They’re all worth it!
