Through a special partnership with Adopt-A-Bull Underdogs, we’ve been able to get six of our long-term foster dogs moving and grooving north! The Montana-based rescue group agreed to help us place Charlie Bob, Coco Mellon, Jax Preston, Olivia Lynn, Greta Leigh and Lentil. We weren’t having much luck finding them suitable families because all of them needed homes without other dogs. Please send your love and gratitude to Adopt-A-Bull Underdogs. We’re so grateful that we could team up for this “Six Pack of Paws!”
Bulldog friends I know I will not be for everyone. Years and years of having babies have taken a toll on my body.
This may be too much information, but when I squat to use the bathroom, I pee all over my nipples. When I was surrendered to the shelter, they told the shelter my dad had died, and no one wanted me. No one wanted me, but they sure wanted the babies I made time and time again. I sat in the corner in the shelter, and I knew my days there were numbered. Old dogs, bred to death dogs, and dogs that are long past their prime are usually overlooked. The owner surrenders are the first to go to the Rainbow Bridge. I had given up.
Wherever I was going was surely better than where I had been. I could not believe my ears when I heard the shelter call rescue and ask if they had room for me. They said yes! A lady named Wendy came for me and I beat her back to her truck. I was excited and so ready to go. Wendy told me I was beautiful. She gave me a bath. Wendy’s husband is a vet. and he was shocked when he saw me. He could not believe my condition. He said I recently had babies and that I have a brown discharge. He said I had heartworms. My tail pocket is so deep and infected it’s hard to sit down. Ms. Wendy says I seem depressed, and it may take me a bit to get back on track.
I already love Ms. Wendy, she has been nicer to me than anyone has in a very long time. My name is Coco Mellon, and in time I will be ready for a family that will love me forever.
11/13/23 Update: Following her heartworm treatment, foster girl Coco Mellon is officially OFF activity restriction! Whoop, whoop!
She’s been spending a number of weeks at Dr. Larsen’s, and we need to get her moved into a foster home. That way, we can best prepare her for her future adoption day.
