Miss Daisy Bird has made her way to Abilene, where she’ll be “one of the prettiest girls I’ve ever seen.”
Her new family includes a spirited 1-year-old male French Poodle named Jacques, who will now be known as Frère Jacques. (A little doggy humor for you!)
We all gathered outside, where the pups engaged in the obligatory butt sniffs. Jacques, clearly thrilled to meet his new sister, jumped around like a freed prisoner on Bastille Day.
Once the excitement settled down, we moved to the garage for a private session, and the real bonding began. As the comfort level rose, foster mom and dad, new mom and dad, Daisy
Bird, and Jacques all moved to the living room to let the love flow freely.
Daisy Bird quickly warmed up to her new parents, just as she did with her foster parents. Her heartwarming affection filled the room, and it was clear that the new parents were smitten.
When asked, “Are you sure you want Daisy Bird?” the only answer possible was a resounding, “Not just yes, but hell yes!” And with that, we joked, “Well, I guess you’ll be ‘Driving Miss Daisy’ home.”
All that remained was the bittersweet load-out and the final kiss goodbye. No matter how many times we experience these moments, the emotional weight never fades.
To quote Miss Daisy Bird herself, “I didn’t hesitate when we left, but at the final kiss, I assured you, my foster peeps, that while I’m in my home now, you will always be my heart’s inspiration.”
As Daisy Bird pointed toward her new home, this is what her heart sang:
“Away I drive with a piece of your heart,
As my adoptive family gives me a fresh start.
But I heard you exclaim, with a tear in your eye,
Fare thee well, dear Bulldog, but never goodbye.”
Wishing Miss Daisy Bird all the happiness in her new life!
I have always had a family and I have always been loved. I grew up with six skin brothers and sisters! You read that right. I come from a big family with lots of people and I loved them all.
My family got news that they were moving soon and they couldn’t take me with them. There were lots of tears today as we all said goodbye, but my family knew rescue was where I need to be.
I’m a spunky, fun-loving 4-year-old who likes to play and snuggle. When I get excited, my whole backside wiggles, I’ve heard I’ve got some sweet dance moves. I cannot wait to meet Dr. Larsen and show her ~ maybe we can choreograph a number or two.
2/13/25 Update: Daisy Bird is back in rescue and ready for her forever home!
Her adoptive home absolutely adored her and wanted the best for her, but sometimes, even when there’s love, a home just isn’t the right fit. Daisy is a fun, spunky girl with plenty of energy, a big personality, and a voice she’s not afraid to use! She’s got opinions, and she’ll happily share them—whether it’s announcing her excitement or reminding you that she’s ready for attention. She’s also a bit dog-selective, meaning she doesn’t always click with every pup she meets. And hey, we don’t vibe with everyone we meet either—dogs do that too!
Her adopter loved her deeply and made the heartbreaking decision to let her go because they knew she needed an environment better suited to her lively spirit. It was not an easy choice, but it was made with Daisy’s happiness in mind. Now that she’s back in foster care, she’s thriving and has done great with the dogs in her home—proving once again that she just needed the right pack to fit her style.
And let’s talk about Queen Energy. Just look at that face—strong, confident, and fully aware of her worth. She carries herself like the royalty she is, with just the right mix of sass and sweetness. And those ears? Absolute perfection. Whether they’re standing at full attention, catching every sound like satellite dishes, or flopped just right for maximum cuteness, they add to her undeniable charm.
She’s also the best little travel buddy, riding like a pro in the car and always ready for an adventure. And when she’s happy? Oh, you’ll know—because her signature wiggle dance will be on full display!
Daisy is the total package: beauty, personality, top-tier ears, and loyalty wrapped up in one perfect bulldog. Now, she just needs a forever family who recognizes the royalty in their presence—one that embraces her energy, listens to her conversations, and lets her shine. Could that be you?
3/7/25 Update: Badda bing, there I moped at Petz Mania, and badda boom, here I luxuriate Chez Maison Ménard BBnB. Kudos to Auntie Tina for escorting me. While I navigated from the shot gun seat, Auntie explained that I would learn about “haute cuisine”, a French expression meaning “good stuff in your mouth and belly”. She also told me that all well behaved Bullies earn run of the house privileges. Most even get to sleep in FD’s bed in the Doggy Dormitory. Sounds like I have some goals to achieve.
I checked into the guest suite, an ultra upgrade from my previous digs. It has a she-shed, a separate comfy bed, a private dining nook, and some toys. Check out this pic of me chillin’ in my capaciousness. I have the whole suite, but I want to be close to the action. In my ultimate dream, I star as the focus of my fur-ever family.
Upon arrival, the Welcome Wagon greeting committee treated me to fresh cut melon, strawberries, Swiss cheese, and pastry. Cheese, ham, and pastry hit the spot; it seems that fruit requires taste acquisition.
Two executives share Chez Maison Ménard BBnB, the Chief Nutrition Officer (CNO), a certifiable geek, and the Chief Medical Officer (CMO), a retired R.N. They ensured that my presence thrilled them. Good fortune rules!
I have already met and discussed living arrangements with my new roomie, Miss Wiggles, aka Hot Lips. Initially, sympatico relations rule the day.
Being close to dinner time, I must sign off soon. I eagerly await my first meal here.
Stay tuned for pupdates. Thanks to everyone at LSBCR who place my welfare at the top of their priority list.
