Dozer Allen (now Thor Mungus)

Dozer Allen (now Thor Mungus)

I wanted to stop by and say thank you to this amazing rescue, my foster peeps, all of you out there who support this rescue, and especially my new furever family for taking me in and giving me the absolute best life ever!

Last Friday, Foster Mom told me that we were going to pack my things and I would be moving in with the super nice family I met a couple of weeks ago.

I’ve always been a dude’s dude, so I bonded immediately with the older skin brother. I also have a dad, mom, two  skin sisters, a fur sister and fur brother.

My new name is Thor Mungus. I like it.  Thor is such a strong name, and I am strong!

My forever home is full of love and has so many chairs to sit on, inside and out.  I’ve been enjoying sitting around the pool all week, and today, I found a few more awesome places to lounge.

Thank you again to everyone who made this new life a possibility for little ol’ me.

I never thought I’d have to join rescue, but after my dad died, it was something that needed to happen.

I’ve always been loved and I’ve always received lots of attention. When you pet me, I fall over on my back and start kicking my legs as fast as I can. I love, love, love attention.

Somewhere along the way, I put on a few extra pounds. I’ve been doing some emotional eating and blossomed up to 72 lbs of pure Bulldog fluff. One thing for sure is that I won’t get cold this winter because I have some extra padding. I have never been shy when it comes to eating. I just love to eat.

And I love to be outside. When I start watching my “walking away the pounds” video, I think, “That sure looks like fun!” So, I will be looking for an active family who will take short walks with me. They may need to carry some snacks with them though, in case I need a bite along the way.

Christmas is my favorite time of year. That’s because December 25 is my birthday and I will be 3 years old. This year, I’m going to sit in Santa’s lap and tell him about how I had to move. I want him to know I miss my dad, my home and everything that was familiar.

I love other dogs and I will love them even more if they like to play. I would not do well in a home with small kids. When I get to running, it’s hard for me to put on the brakes and I could knock someone over by accident. I am super strong, super fast and super cute.

I am going to sit with Dr. Larsen next week and I know she’ll giggle when she sees all this goodness. She’ll say, “Dozer Allen, you are the whole enchilada, but you’ve gotta lose some weight!” I hate to say it, but I’m not sure I’m ready to start a diet…. I mean, it’s the holidays! Maybe I can squeeeeeeze in five more weeks of fun and then we all can start our 2023 resolutions!

11/30/22 Update:   We got Dozer on Tuesday.  He came into our home and adjusted very quickly. His little white foster fur sister is a bit cranky sometimes.  After the first couple of days they started doing much better together.  He really likes following our 14 year old boy and foster dad around.   He loves being outside, in his kennel and laying in laps.  He is a little stubborn.  If you want him to go somewhere (like out of the closet), he simply lays down and rolls over on his back.  This seems to serve 2 purposes.  1. You can’t pick 72 pounds up when in that position. 2. He gets lots of belly rubs doing this.

As soon as he sees anyone getting dressed he goes to the front door and guards it.  While he loves to go, go go…he prefers going in the car for rides.  After our 1st walk, he stood by the truck and refused to come in.  FD decided to take him for a ride while running an errand.  When they got back, Dozer refused to get out of the truck!  I guess that ride just wasn’t long enough.

On our walk today, we found out that Dozer does not like scooters, and he is very strong!  Have you ever seen a dog pick up a child’s scooter and run across the yard with it?  I hadn’t either until today.  🙂

He is a big talker, and will tell you all about it! And “it” can be just about anything.

12/13/22 Update:  Dozer is a bit fluffy and a “sexy thang.” He loves to love.

He needs to drop about 11 pounds. He’s also getting treated for an ear infection.

He is doing good in his foster home! He’s house broken and uses the doggy door. He sleeps fine in his kennel, but he’s not a big fan of getting in it. At 76 pounds, slightly stubborn and not food- or toy-motivated, it is quite the task to get him in it, or to get him to do anything that is not his idea.

He loves to go, go, go. Walks are fun, but he prefers car rides! Problem is none of the rides are long enough and it takes a lot of patience to pry him out of the car.

On walks, you have to be looking ahead for scooters and bikes. He is not a fan! He took his foster momma for a little trip through the mud. LOL

His favorite thing to do is move dog beds around the house!

Foster Dad describes Dozer as a good boy with really bad ideas. He loves to dump the toys and eat the basket, dump the laundry and eat the basket, dump the harnesses and leashes and bring them to you… thankfully, he hasn’t tried to eat that basket yet.

He is so sweet and gets along well with all the other dogs….. we are just trying to work on him not being so “loving.” They don’t all appreciate his acts of love.

12/20/22 Update:  Dozer Allen, Moose Wilson and Dutton continue to do great in their foster home.

They all get along great with each other and the big fur resident.  The little white furry one is getting better with them,  but she’s still a bit moody at times,  and not always okay with sharing foster mom. She’s accepted Moose the most.  I think it’s because he’s the most calm out of the 3.

Dozer is doing so much better with his manners and wanting to show his love to all.  He is still stubborn, and it’s quite the feat to get him to do what he doesn’t want to do.  Once you get him to the kennel door he does great all night. He’s not into toys or treats.  He is into all the baskets, boxes and moving beds and blankets.  I can’t figure out how he got to be 76 pounds because food and treats don’t seem to be a priority!  lol

He plays big! He needs a big strong parebt, and No small children.

1/4/23 Update:  Dozer continues to do great in his foster home. He gets along with all the other fur babies!  He’s so laid back when it comes to toys, food and the other dogs.

I’m not sure how he got to be so fluffy, as he does not get up for meal time,  or for treats. Foster Mom brings the treats to him!

We still have to watch as he will find all baskets, and empty them and move them to his favorite place.

He has a crazy obsession with things with wheels. No scooters, bikes or skateboards desired!

He tuckered out on a walk this week. Foster Dad had to pick up all 76 pounds of love and carry him for 3/4 of a block.   Now, he has to go on the “old timers’ walk.”

He loves to be loved, and big belly rubs. He’s going to make a great addition to someone’s family!

1/17/23 Update:  Dozer is still hanging out, watching through the window and waiting on his furever family to find him.

He is a silly thing. He brings so much laughter to our home! He loves to move dog beds and blankets to whatever spot suits him for that particular day. His favorite place to sit is in any chair or bench he can find. I think his motto might be, “If I fit, I sit,” but I’m not sure he’s aware of how wide he is.

He’s decided to make a game of bedtime. It’s called, “Watch Foster Dad Chase Me Around The Yard At Bedtime.” LOL Once we get to the door, he goes in and gets in his kennel now… but the first day, Foster Mom didn’t realize she needed to block the doggy door and he ran back out for a second round of chase. He does it all in fun. He doesn’t mind his kennel at all and often take naps in it throughout the day.

1/24/23 Update:  I have really settled into my foster home, and while I enjoy it here, I am ready for my furever home.

Foster Mom and Dad think I am funny. They laugh at me a lot. I love to be outside, rest in all of the different kennels, drag the beds and blankets to where I want to lay, sit up high in any chair I can find, and most of all, big belly rubs. I may be 76 pounds, but I will fit in Foster Dad’s lap for a nap.

I’m not really into treats… I will eat it if you bring it to me, but I’m not getting up from my comfy spot for it. Unless it’s chicken. I will do just about anything you want for a little bite of chicken.

2/7/23 Update:  Oh Dozer!  If you are looking for a sweet bulldog that keeps you laughing all the time, he is your boy!

Most of the time you will find him sitting in the lawn chairs outside, the kitchen chairs (if you forget to push them in), or stretched out on the couch or recliner.  He loves to lounge.  He’s not really into toys much, but will play with the other dogs from time to time.  He’s as stubborn as he is sweet.

He gets crazy ideas in his head and at 76 pounds you have to persuade him to “do the right thing.”  These ideas usually involve emptying the trash cans  He doesn’t care about the trash, but he wants to carry the can around with him and maybe give it a little chomp chomp.  Laundry baskets and food bowls are also fun to carry around in Dozer’s world.  He will empty that laundry basket for you in a heartbeat.  He does not care if the clothes are clean or dirty, they are going on the floor if you don’t keep that basket hidden.

While Dozer does love kids, his perfect home will probably not need any little ones since he is so strong.  He likes to play a little crazy and doesn’t really know when it’s time to stop.  That stubborn streak in him makes him think he doesn’t need to listen to little ones too.  If you want him to do something he doesn’t want to do, he lays down and rolls over for belly rubs!  He is a hoot!

If you are looking for a sweet boy to keep you entertained and you have patience, then he just might be the one for you!

2/21/23 Update:  Dozer Allen is doing great and looking through the approved applications for his furever family!

He really would like a family who has plenty of time to give him lots of attention. He will definitely keep them entertained.

This week, he’s been chilling mostly. He did get past Foster Mom when she was coming in from the garage one morning. He ran and jumped into the dog stroller and refused to come out for about three hours. Clearly, he thought it was walking time,  but the weather didn’t agree with that.

If you need some big love and a big personality, Dozer Allen may be your perfect match!

3/3/23 Update:  I love me some Dozer Allen. Not one accident in the house and not one skirmish with the other pups in the house.

He is a comic with his googly eyes and super underbite.  He is a loving pup and will roll over to give you his belly.  He has tried every chair in the house, just like he is Goldilocks.  He finally settled on the couch as the most comfortable. Such a good boy!
