Frankie Avalon

Frankie Avalon

Frankie Avalon and Annette Funicello came to us broken and battered. Many suspected they had been used as bait dogs. While their bodies bore the scars, their hearts remained pure. Despite their trauma, they were incredibly sweet and thankful to be saved. It was clear that these two were deeply bonded—likely because they had basically endured hell together.

Dr. Larsen and her team worked tirelessly to heal them. Sadly, Frankie had to have one of his eyes removed due to his injuries, but it didn’t seem to faze him. Once they were stable, they moved to the Meza foster home to continue their healing. It didn’t take long for them to become social media stars, with their quirky grins, wiggling bums, and wagging tails. It was impossible not to fall in love with this adorable duo.

And now, we’re celebrating an AWESOME ADOPTION ALERT, times two!

From their foster dad: Frankie and Annette are the most precious, bonded pair I’ve ever had the pleasure of fostering. We’re thrilled to announce that the big hearts of Mary and Joe have opened up to these two. Mary and Joe, former foster parents for Lone Star Bulldog Club Rescue, fell head over heels for Frankie Avalon and Annette Funicello. The meet-and-greet was a perfect match, and now they’re on their way home to Washington. Frankie and Annette are going to be spoiled with love for the rest of their lives!

We were able to save the two Bulldogs from the Fort Worth shelter. This is Annette Funicello, and she seems to be in better shape than her poor friend, Frankie Avalon.

Prayers are needed for Frankie Avalon, one of the two dogs we pulled from a local shelter yesterday. He’s going into surgery to have an eye and a toe removed. Because of his current state, we’ll have to neuter him at a later date, when he’s healthier. The two dogs were found as strays on the side of a highway, but the shelter and vet staff members believe both could have been used as bait dogs due to their wounds.

11/16/24 Update:  We are deeply grateful for the outpouring of love and support you’ve shown for our recent shelter pulls, Frankie Avalon and Annette Funicello. Your kindness means the world to us and to them.

Frankie Avalon’s surgery went well yesterday. He underwent the removal of an eye and a toe, and had to endure some additional procedures to clean and treat wounds, which appear to have been caused by other dogs. Dr. Larsen shared that around 40% of Frankie’s body was covered in bites and sores.

Despite their difficult past, Frankie Avalon and Annette Funicello are on the road to recovery, and we’re hopeful for their future. We’ll continue to keep you updated on their progress as we receive more information.

12/13/24 Update:  When these two entered rescue, their situation broke my heart, and I made sure we could provide them with foster care. Their love and energy are remarkable given their history. We just can’t get enough of these two photogenic angels!
