Jax Preston

Jax Preston

Through a special partnership with Adopt-A-Bull Underdogs, we’ve been able to get six of our long-term foster dogs moving and grooving north! The Montana-based rescue group agreed to help us place Charlie Bob, Coco Mellon, Jax Preston, Olivia Lynn, Greta Leigh and Lentil. We weren’t having much luck finding them suitable families because all of them needed homes without other dogs. Please send your love and gratitude to Adopt-A-Bull Underdogs. We’re so grateful that we could team up for this “Six Pack of Paws!”

Bulldog friends if you think I am thin now, you should have seen me before the nicest lady found me.  You could “read a newspaper thru me.”  That’s an ole time expression for a really thin person!

I don’t know how long I had been wandering around, but it must have been a really long time.  My new friend took me to her vet and made sure I had some vaccinations and bought me a box of heartworm medication.  I was out on her social media and low and behold someone came forward and said, “that’s my dog!”  And all my friend did was show them the bill and how much she had spent on me at the vet and all of a sudden, I was not their dog. Can you believe that I was not even worth that much to them? That was fine with me. I didn’t want to go back to them anyway.

So here I am now in rescue and on Thursday I am going to have a little operation to help me with that “lovin feeling” and then I will be looking for a fabulous family that will love me forever.

My name is Jax Preston. I love all dogs, cat and kittens. I met some kids, and I loved them to. One small child thought I was a pony and she wanted to climb on my back and me take her for a spin. I was like “No Way Jax is not a pony, he’s a beautiful bulldog.” I made her cry, and she stomped her feet, but she spilled her Goldfish and I had a treat.  My name is Jax and I am sweet as can be!

11/24/23 Update:  Jax has got his teefs all ready for Thanksgiving!

I remember the day I picked him up. I saw his top front teeth and laughed for a good 5 minutes. They’re just so funny and cute! That moment definitely endeared me to him instantly. He’s such a sweet boy who loves scratches.

He’s a powerhouse of a dog who can be stubborn, but listens well.  He gets a bit mouthy when he gets excited and wants to play.

I’ve given him two medicated baths and we trimmed his nails; he behaved wonderfully for both.

I’ve been rubbing him down with coconut oil to try to help with his itchiness, hence the T-shirt. We just put it on for a couple of hours so he doesn’t rub coconut oil on everything.

This guy has the most expressive eyes! Sometimes, I swear I can hear what he’s saying and I even respond ~ no, I’m NOT crazy, I swear!

Enjoy the clip of him telling me how displeased he is that it’s taking me sooooo long to get him out of his crate after dinner (it took me about 1 minute).

And, enjoy the close up of those teeny toofers I love so much, along with a glimpse of his equally as cute bottom teefs.

11/30/23 Update:  Jax got a medicated bath on Saturday and was a very good boy. He is still pretty itchy, and I’ve given him the nickname “Scritchy Scratchy.” Oh, and when he has a complaint, he is not shy about making it known!

12/13/23 Update:  Jax found himself a sunny spot to lounge after breakfast today.

He’s getting better with the help of his medicated baths and some meds doc sent over. He’s still itchy, but it seems to be much less than before. We’re trying to keep any spots that are bothersome clean and treated with a little Animax.

He’s getting a little more playful with me and the DogFather, but doesn’t really show any interest in playing with the other dogs.

He gets pretty mouthy and is pushy at the door if he wants to go out. We’re working on making him “wait” until we give the “OK” to move forward. He’s stubborn, so it’s taking some time.

He still loves pets and will stand and let you give them as long as you want. He loves to eat and, when we put him in his crate for meals, he barks until he is served.

He’s happy in his crate to rest and, if we leave our bedroom door open, he will often choose to lay in it when we’re all relaxing.

All in all, he’s a very good boy and will need a home with a strong leader ~ someone who will set firm boundaries and maintain control in the home. If given the opportunity, he could  take over and try to be the boss!
