Judah

Judah

Last weekend Judah went on her meet and greet and she was amazing! She walked into their home, she met the resident fur babies, she explored a little, she got comfy on the couch and she made her way into her new parents hearts! They have experience with shy and timid pups and they could see how special Judah is!

A few days later I got the text that they just loved her and they wanted her to be in their family as soon as possible! Judah was in rescue over 365 days and she has come so far! I’m so happy she found a family that is giving her the chance to be happy and help her live her best life! I’m so excited to hear of her continued progress with her new family!

I met an angel on Friday and his name is Trey.

I had made it as far as the church before I collapsed. The temperature was over 100 degrees and the humidity seemed the same. I had just about given up…. I had walked as far as I could go. If I was going to die, let me die at church. I have no idea why I was there. I’ve had puppies, but I don’t know where they are either.

Trey was cutting the grass at the church and when he saw me and he wondered if I would survive. He had to get me cooled down and out of the heat.

Trey took me to his daughter Haley’s house and it was great. Haley took me to her vet and got me stable. It was wonderful to have food and water to drink. Haley told me I was beautiful and she held me tight. She cried while I shook from fear. I seem to be scared of everything ~ just touching me makes me shake.

Haley knew that I needed more than she could give me. I was the first Bulldog she had been around, so she reached out to rescue for help. And help came and I know my life will never be the same.

Dr. Larsen said I was severely underweight and dehydrated. She told me I have a heart murmur and it could be from dehydration, anemia and my lack of nutrition. Dr. Larsen is going to reevaluate me once I gain weight. She believes I’m young ~ between 2 and 3 years old.

I am so thankful for Trey, Haley and for rescue and that my days of wandering are over. I am a living, breathing, walking miracle. I’m so glad I was saved.

9/6/22 Update:  I’ve been in my foster home for a week. I’m still a bit unsure of this place, but I will say it’s better than the streets!

I get three very generous meals a day and I’m already starting to get a little belly! I’ve had sardines, meat balls, wet food, dry food, peanut butter… and so many treats, I can’t even remember.

I am very camera shy, so getting good pictures is a bit challenging. Foster Mom says that’s OK and that in time, I will learn to love the camera. Foster Mom says she will help me learn to enjoy attention.

I am scared of humans… scared of what they are doing and what they are holding, I try my best to blend into the floor. I love my kennel and I prefer to stay there, but I will dart out to run outside, do my business, and then come right back in. Foster Mom says she’s going to help me gain my confidence with that too.

9/14/22 Update:   Judah is thankful for her new life! She is slowly learning that good things can come from a human hand!

11/3/22 Update:  Judah has been in her foster home for a couple of months. Our first priority was to help her put on some much-needed weight. She has gained almost 15 lbs and is looking fabulous.

Now that she is healthy and her spay is done, we are working on her being comfortable around humans. Judah is very shy, timid and scared of everything!

In just a few months, Judah has learned the following:

She likes a good scratching (when the human is sitting).

She will take a treat from the human.

She will eat in front of the human.

She knows her name.

She goes in and out the dog door (usually running from the human).

Judah has climbed on the couch twice and sat next to the human.

She rarely has an inside accident.

She has found the toys.

She does have a playfull side (rarely seen in person, but caught on camera a few times).

Stay tuned as she continues to cone out of her shell!

12/5/22 Update:  Judah is doing great and continues to overcome her fear of humans. She will seek affection if you’re petting another pup. You can see that she wants affection so bad, but still has slight hesitation when she’s on her own.

She scares very easily, and doesn’t like noises or loud voices. Unfortunately foster mom has to use her stern voice often with some of the other pups in the home, but she is quick to come back and see what’s going on.

3/3/23 Update:  It’s been awhile since I’ve checked in because I have been working really hard on my social skills.

I am still very leery of everyone and everything! But I sometimes seek affection because deep down, I really love getting pets. I just haven’t quite let down my wall!

I do best when someone else is getting petted. I have no problems approaching them to get my share.

I also know that hands have treats and in order to get the treats, I have to approach the hands. I love treats so I get in and get back out!

I still don’t trust the square thing foster mom holds when she’s trying to take my picture. She says it’s just a phone! I don’t care what it is. I don’t trust it and as long as I don’t look at it, I feel safe!

3/18/23 Update:  It has taken Judah months and months and months to get to this!  Check off another first for Judah! She climbed the stairs to check on sick foster mom, well it was more to see what Kiwi was doing but I’ll take what she is willing to give. And I would gladly stay in bed for more of this! She was cautiously letting me pet all over her, give her quick kisses and belly rubs. She is slowly coming out of her shell and we are breaking down those walls.

5/2/23 Update:  Look at Miss Judah! Every morning she gets more comfortable and loves to get love. She’s still skittish and may always be, but she’s to the point that she seeks your hand! She will nibble to get your attention or push others out of the way to get to the front of the line! Big movements or raised voices and she is gone, but comes back. Judah is taking big steps this weekend… she is camping with us, so wish her luck!

7/22/23 Update:  Mornings are just the best! Judah may get over looked (she’s been in rescue about a year) because she is scared of most everything, but she loves to get “lovins” on her terms! This is Judah most mornings. Once she hears movement, if she isn’t already in the bed, she is up with me, looking for the pets. You still have to force it a little to get her to relax like this, but she loves the love and kisses. She is similar to my girl Kiwi, a Lone Star Bulldog Club Rescue alumna. It took Kiwi three years until she could let go of her fears and her troubled past to become her best self!
