6/16/25 ~ AWESOME ADOPTION ALERT! From the foster pops: On Saturday, Lolita soared into her stratospheric dream. She was adopted by a young family from San Antonio—complete with a gentle Bulldog companion and a baby boy. Lolita, her new family, and we as her foster parents, all hit the jackpot.
The family visited us on Friday and spent the whole afternoon getting to know Lolita, ending the day with a relaxed dinner. From the very first FaceTime call, they were smitten—but seeing Lolita in person sealed the deal. She charmed them completely, rubbing up against their legs, asking for belly rubs, and soaking in every ounce of attention. The bond between the Bulldogs blossomed instantly.
The adoption day itself? A true Super Bowl-level event, with Meg and I calling the play-by-play and Chuck providing the color commentary from the booth. The joy was palpable.
Saturday also happened to be my birthday, and with Father’s Day right behind it, I can’t imagine a better gift than watching Lolita begin her new life with the family she was meant for.
As we loaded up the car, Lolita sat calmly with her new Bulldog sibling—no nervous energy, just quiet readiness. She had already done all her goodbye kisses in the days leading up, and when it was time to go, she was at peace. Watching that car pull away filled our hearts with warmth. She was home.
No matter how many times we go through these goodbyes, the bittersweet beauty of them never fades.
If Lolita could speak, we imagine she would’ve said this as she looked out the window toward her new life:
“I didn’t hesitate when we left, but know this—while I’m finally home, you will always be the inspiration of my heart.”
This is what her heart sang as she pointed toward her new home.
Away I drove off with a piece of your heart
As my adoptive family gave me a new start
But I heard you exclaim, with a tear in your eye
Fare thee well dear Bulldog, but never goodbye
Fly high, sweet Lolita. You are so loved.
INTRODUCTION: Lolita has always been a perfect angel. She had a loving family, was the center of attention, and no one could have imagined her life would take a turn where she’d need to find a new home. Tears were shed, but ultimately, it was the right decision for her future.
At 3 years old, Lolita is a bit on the thicker side, but she wears her extra fluff with pride. She’s a social butterfly, getting along with every dog she meets, never starting a fight, and being the absolute best house guest. Her only medical need is a dry eye that requires some drops, but other than that, she’s healthy and happy.
Sweet, affectionate, and ready to love, Lolita would thrive in any home that adores a Bulldog lady. Could you be her perfect match?
4/14/25 update: Tis I, Miss Lolita — in the flesh (and quite a bit of it, or so I’m told).
My friends call me Lola, but the mean girls whisper Señorita Lolita la Gordita. Go ahead, consult your Funk & Wagnalls — the Spanish-to-English edition, please. I’ll wait.
Have you heard of RIF? That’s Reduction In Force. Well, I’m working on something just a bit more personal — RIG: Reduction In Girth. Upon arrival at this “Edifice Larousse Gastronomique,” I quickly learned the culinary staff had a sinister plan: smaller portions of the same delicious menu. Something about becoming “bikini ready.” I have no idea what that means, but if it involves lounging like royalty and being adored — count me in.
Turns out, I’m a bit of a social butterfly and a toy hoarder. I’ve taken to collecting toys in my she-shed to keep the loneliness away — until my bestie shows up and swipes my ball! Rude.
I’ve adjusted to my new digs with such grace that I’ve already been upgraded — from the guest suite to the doggie dormitory. But let’s be real, my jealous roomie wasn’t too thrilled about sharing Foster Dad. I’m just that lovable.
They say I’m a keeper — and who am I to argue? As I continue my fabulous glow-up, maybe you and I could turn out to be a truly remarkable match.
Don’t worry, I’ll still be the same ol’ sweet, snuggly Bulldog you’d fall for… just with a sleeker silhouette and a little extra sparkle.
4/23/25 update: Wow, when you bipeds save us in Rescue, our lives transform from mere existence to near ecstasy. I am so happy to live in a comfortable home where we enjoy family member status. Kidding me? Who knew you treasured us so much? You consider us a blessing. You have no idea of our esteem for your devotion. Bravo LSBCR!Check out the video of me guarding FD on the exercise bike. I take my familial obligations seriously. I also help him work, answering all office demands.
I am energetic, well behaved, obedient, playful, friendly.. modesty prevents me from continuing. This foster home has taught me more than I could imagine. Now, I imagine a fur ever life in your home.
5/23/25 update: Word on the street is that a family might be interested in me! Just to clarify—despite how it looks, that family is not hiding in the yaupon holly bush. A local lizard family hangs out there in the cool shade and soft soil, and part of my job is making sure the area stays free of any pesky varmints. You’ll often catch me enjoying a lazy afternoon, stretched out on the lawn without a care in the world. Hopefully, I’ll be lounging like this soon in my very own home. Paws crossed.
