Magnolia Jean

Magnolia Jean

Miss Magnolia Jean has officially departed for her next home in Kerens, Texas, just east of Corsicana.

She arrived at Chez Maison Ménard BBnB less than three months ago, and oh, what a gem she was! We can’t help but wish she could’ve stayed a little longer. We even told her new family that if they ever traveled, Magnolia Jean was always welcome to stay with us—her only risk would be falling in love with us all over again!

As veteran fosters, we firmly believe that the Bulldog chooses their family, and Magnolia Jean certainly made her choice clear.

When Sandy and Patrick arrived at 2 p.m., Magnolia Jean ran to greet them, then, in an unexpected moment, darted outside and scampered straight to their truck. This behavior was completely out of the blue—it was as if she already knew they were hers. It was uncanny!

For the next hour, Magnolia Jean charmed her new parents, snuggling between them and melting their hearts.

To quote Miss Magnolia Jean herself, “I didn’t hesitate when I left, but at the final kiss, I assured you, my foster family, that while I’m finally home, you’ll always be the inspiration of my heart.”

Today, we said our goodbyes with a final kiss, watching as she eagerly began this exciting new chapter of her life.

As Magnolia drove off, this is what we imagined her heart was singing:

A piece of your heart went with me as I left,

But with my new family, I have a fresh start.

Though I heard you say, with a tear in your eye,

“Farewell, sweet Magnolia, but never goodbye.”

Magnolia Jean must have felt a wave of confusion wash over her as she found herself in the unfamiliar countryside. Had she really been taken on a one-way trip and left behind?

Her body bears the scars of past surgeries, evidence that she likely had once been someone’s beloved Bulldog.

Thankfully, animal services came to her rescue. Though she wasn’t sure where she was headed, it had to be better than wandering hungry along a desolate country road.

At the shelter, Magnolia Jean received a much-needed bath and patiently waited for her family to find her. Every time the door opened, she eagerly looked for a familiar face.

After completing her stray hold, Magnolia Jean was spayed, vaccinated, and underwent eye surgery. The eye surgery was a game-changer; she could finally see clearly without the discomfort of lashes brushing against her eyes. She’d heard through the grapevine that she was on her way to a rescue, but first, she had to wait her turn as other dogs awaited their chance.

Eventually, Magnolia Jean left the shelter with a kind woman who loved her and cared for her as they awaited her new beginning, an opening in our rescue program.

We’re not sure of Magnolia Jean’s estimated age yet, but she’s filled with love for kids, other dogs, and everyone she meets!

12/13/24 Update:  Dear Bullie world, and potential adoptive families in the lower 48 and beyond (did I cover enough territory?)

Tis I, Miss Magnolia Jean, just settling into the renovated guest suite at Chez Maison Ménard BBnB.  Yesterday, at the clinic, the crew enjoyed a sumptuous Christmas lunch from Soulman’s BBQ.  The aroma drove my olfactory senses into overdrive.  Then Doc Larsen and Nurse Heather asked if I could appreciate gourmet food.  Heck yes, I raised both forepaws!

They arranged for Auntie Jen to Uber me from Sulphur Springs to Flower Mound.  When we arrived, the Welcome Wagon catering staff brought out cheese, pastry, deli ham, chicken salad, and fresh cut fruit.  Kiddin’ me?  Who knew that Bullies dined a la haute couture?

See me here in my open she shed.  Diva that I may be, I morphed into Goldilocks mode and tried another bed.  How do I look in this comfy one?

Today’s experiences ring so new that it will take some time for me to acclimate.   I think that this LSBCR thang might work out,

Please stay tuned for my updates.

1/17/25 Update:  Who believes that I have not wrapped Foster Dad around my paws? And he does not even know yet. I sleep in his bed in the doggy dormitory, along with my fur sister. We compete for the closest position. I prefer snuggling into his armpit.

I also love my Foster Mom. I like to place my chin on her shoulder and claim her by gripping her forearm under my paw. These two have taught me more about love than I ever knew. I’ll transfer that knowledge to the family who adopts me.

1/30/25 Update:  I am proud to announce my promotion to chief of security detail.

Daily, I shadow foster dad, keeping him safe so he can prepare our meals on time.  I guard him while he works in his office.  Even though I nap frequently, I remain ready to pounce into action at any time.

But I shine when the stars rise in the night sky.  FD rises early AM so retires early PM.  I tuck him in and then protect him with my body.  The warmth is a job perk.

Are you OTLO for a loyal loving Bullie?  Look no more!

2/20/25 Update:  I’m here with a few fast facts and observations for all y’all potential adoptive families.

I’ve traveled a rough and bumpy road before arriving at Lone Star Bulldog Club Rescue, and then to my foster home in late November. But despite my difficult past, I acclimated in just 36 hours! In fact, I set the land speed record for earning “run of the house” privileges. Soon after, I graduated to chief of home security, protecting my foster dad day and night. This important role means I get to sleep snuggled against him in the Doggy Dormitory.

I epitomize chill vibes—nothing rattles me, not even barking dogs in neighbors’ yards. I remain as calm as a mill pond. My calm companionship makes me a great fit for any family.

I’ll admit, I do have a bit of that Bulldog stubbornness—but hey, isn’t that part of the charm? At the heart of it all, love is my defining trait.

Did you know that just because Foster Dad rises at the crack of dawn doesn’t mean I have to? My instructions are simple: “Wake me when breakfast is served.”

So, if you’re interested in adoption, send in your applications. I’ll be reviewing them carefully and advising accordingly! You and I may be the perfect match.
