3/4/26 AWESOME ADOPTION ALERT! From Magnolia Valentine: I believe I might be the luckiest Bulldog around. Just two months ago, I was scared, lost and wandering the streets with no direction and no hope. I kept searching for something—anything—familiar that might lead me back to the warmth and safety of home. But the truth was, I had been completely abandoned.
1/21/26 INTRODUCTION ~ Please welcome Magnolia Valentine to our rescue family. She writes: I wish I could tell you my entire story, but dog language hasn’t quite been translated into human yet. What I can share is how my new life began.
I was found roaming the streets of DeSoto and taken to the Tri-City Animal Shelter, where I received emergency care for my bleeding sores and a coat so neglected it was barely recognizable as dog hair.
Not long after, some incredibly kind people from Lone Star Bulldog Club Rescue stepped in and changed everything.
Today, I visited another wonderful veterinarian for a full round of exams, and here’s what I’ve learned about myself.
I’m around 7–8 years old, but I feel younger, so let’s call it 7. My bloodwork shows I’m severely anemic and fighting a serious infection. My belly is swollen, but despite what it looks like, I’m not pregnant; I have an old spay scar. My ears are battling three different parasites, my skin is covered in painful sores, and I have a severe combination of yeast and bacterial infections.
At first, the doctor worried I might be bleeding internally. Instead, they discovered something just as dangerous: a near life-threatening infestation of hookworms. These parasites weren’t just stealing what little nutrition I had. They were feeding on my blood. That explains the anemia and my bloated belly.
The good news? I now have a dedicated medical plan, a long list of medications, and humans who know exactly how to help me heal. Tonight, I’m safe in my foster home, resting in my own clean, quiet room and finally beginning my recovery.
Despite everything I’ve been through, I’m as sweet as they come. I’m resilient, gentle and full of hope. In just a few weeks, you’ll meet a brand-new Magnolia Valentine: stronger, healthier and ready for the love I’ve always deserved.
Thank you to Lone Star Bulldog Club Rescue for giving me a second chance at life. If you’d like to help dogs like me on our journey to healing, please consider donating: dfwbulldogrescue.org/donate
2/25/26 UPDATE ~ From foster girl Magnolia Valentine: I am so proud of myself! I’m healing beautifully and starting to feel like my happy, playful puppy self again. My skin infections are now well under control, and I only have three tiny hot spots left that are almost healed.
This week, the doctor gave me the best news ever… the nasty worms are 100% gone from my body, my major health issues have been completely corrected and my bloodwork is normal! The kind doctor even said I don’t need to come back anymore. How amazing is that?
At my foster home, I have a rotating group of “siblings” since my foster family welcomes several dogs each week. I’m happy to report that I get along wonderfully with every single one of them! I truly enjoy the company.
One thing about me… I love food and am always excited for mealtime! For the past eight weeks, I could barely walk and had no energy at all. Now? I’m running around the house and even doing the cutest little leap when I try to play with an oversized tennis ball. It’s pretty adorable, if I do say so myself.
I’m house-trained, have excellent manners and I’m getting stronger with each passing day. I truly don’t think I would have made it without the incredible people at Lone Star Bulldog Club Rescue who cared for me and the group’s generous donors who helped to give me this second chance.
